Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be housed in a standard live-insect containment chamber in Site-19. Please be informed that any act of hostility will be immediately recognized by SCP-XXXX and, in turn, will act aggressively if disturbed.

The personnel responsible for feeding SCP-XXXX must not have any open wounds, punctures, and/or surgical scars.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a swarm of winged insects that resembles Rhopalocera, but greatly differ in anatomy. Each of the winged creatures (SCP-XXXX-1) measures up to 2 centimeters in size. Its wings are dark indigo in color, and reaches up to 4 centimeters in wingspan. SCP-XXXX displays parasitic behavior and a hive-mind way of thinking, which is observed through coordinated, and systematic action. SCP-XXXX also exhibits high environmental awareness, due to its ability to recognize danger that may threaten SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX can be aggressive when presented to a living organism. SCP-XXXX enters any opening in the body (mainly the mouth) and uses its enhanced proboscis mechanism, to consume the viscera of the victim. SCP-XXXX also consumes important proteins, and amino acids, which may cause the weakening of the musculature of the victim.

After a maximum of up to an hour prior entrance, SCP-XXXX exits the victim's body through an opening, or "creates one" itself.

Upon exit, the number of SCP-XXXX noticeably increases with newly-formed, premature instances of SCP-XXXX (called SCP-XXXX-2), which were discovered to be constructed from the viscera of the victim.

SCP-XXXX-2 is 1.5 centimeters in size. Its wingspan reaches up to 3 centimeters. A sample taken from SCP-XXXX-2 reveals traces of digestive enzymes, presumably from the stomach. How SCP-XXXX can withstand concentrated amounts of hydrochloric acid is still unknown.

After a span of 2 hours, SCP-XXXX-2 will slowly transform into SCP-XXXX-1.

SCP-XXXX was discovered in a tropical rainforest in ███████, feeding on the remains of a [REDACTED]. The group of indigenous people, who are identified as the █████ tribe, states that they have been providing carcasses of livestock to SCP-XXXX. They say that SCP-XXXX is a symbol of famine, and they must make an offering to "drive it away."

Upon initial discovery, SCP-XXXX also displays scavenger behavior and characteristics, which is similar to a vulture.

Addendum XXXX-1: According to Doctor Miles, SCP-XXXX not only enters natural orifices of the body of animals or human subjects, but also open wounds. Further research is currently being conducted. (See Test A-2 for futher details)

Conductor of Study: Doctor Miles
Test A-1 - 17th of November

Subject: One (1) D-Class Personnel
Procedure: Subject was introduced to SCP-XXXX in the testing chamber. Prior to entrance, Doctor Miles instructed the subject to open his mouth.
Results: SCP-XXXX entered the subject through his mouth. Subject states that he is feeling lightheaded and fuzzy in the first 2 minutes. Then, subject started screaming in pain. After approximately 10 minutes, subject collapses, SCP-XXXX exits the subject's [DATA EXPUNGED] with observable increase in quantity.
Analysis: "SCP-XXXX is aggressive when introduced to any orifice. I'll look more into it." -Doctor Miles

Conductor of Study: Doctor Miles
Test A-2 - 18th of November

Subject: One (1) D-Class Personnel
Procedure: Subject was introduced to SCP-XXXX in the testing chamber. Before entrance, Doctor Miles gave the subject an incision on the right forearm.
Results: SCP-XXXX entered the subject through the cut made by Doctor Miles. Subject starts to feel "shooting pains up and down his right arm". Wound starts to bleed profusely, which may be characterized as venous bleeding. After approximately 20 minutes, subject collapses, SCP-XXXX exits the subject's mouth with observable increase in quantity.
Analysis: "SCP-XXXX not only enters the mouth [and other orifices], but also enters open wounds as well. Interesting indeed." -Doctor Miles

Conductor of Study: Doctor Miles
Test B - 19th of November

Subject: One (1) Bull Mastiff
Procedure: Subject was introduced to SCP-XXXX in the testing chamber. Upon entry, subject starts to growl at SCP-XXXX. Immediately, SCP-XXXX enters the subject through it's mouth.
Results: [DATA EXPUNGED]
Analysis: "Disgusting. All I can say about this experiment is the time for SCP-XXXX to incapacitate its victim greatly depends on the subject's size, and what opening it entered. I abort all tests on animals with SCP-XXXX. I just don't want to see it again." -Doctor Miles

Addendum XXXX-2: "Upon my decision of termination of all tests on animals concerning SCP-XXXX, you must also ask for my permission to test with human subjects as well. If we keep on testing, it may get out of hand. We wouldn't know what to do when SCP-XXXX's number gets too large to handle. We must be alert and keep our eyes peeled at all costs."
-Doctor Miles

Addendum XXXX-3: Due to SCP-XXXX's high environmental awareness, as of 24th of November, SCP-XXXX has been recorded with erratic behavior, due to heavy rains occuring out of the facility. Researchers also recorded that levels of carbon dioxide are significantly lower than that of oxygen levels in SCP-XXXX's containment chamber. Therefore, Doctor Miles concludes that SCP-XXXX inhales carbon dioxide in copious amounts.
