The Problem Solver

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to stored in an easily accessible place in the Junior Research lab. Access to SCP-XXXX is not restricted and can be requested by D-Class personnel. SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a storage locker at Site-19. Access to SCP-XXXX is restricted to Level-2 personnel. SCP-XXXX is not to be tested without direct permission from at least one Level-4 personnel and must be overseen by a Level-3 personnel.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a [DATA REDACTED] brand graph composition notebook. The notebook itself does not exhibit any anomalous properties.

SCP-XXXX-1 is the designation given to the written1 contents of this notebook. The contents resemble a complex form of multivariable calculus and abstract algebra, along with certain mathematically impossible formulas and symbols from different alphabets2. The calculations are interrupted by notes written in modern English five times (see list of notes within SCP-XXXX). The handwriting in SCP-XXXX becomes increasingly sloppy seven times approximately every ██ pages, resuming with a higher level of neatness every time except the last. After the final break the handwriting becomes barely legible and could only be deciphered by [DATA REDACTED]. No identifiable features of the handwriting could be traced to a source. However, the calculations have many missing elements, rendering them functionally useless. (See Incident A-1)

It is unknown how the Foundation came into possession of SCP-XXXX. Records of SCP-XXXX appear after ██/██/███. Any correlation between the appearance of SCP-XXXX and a concurrent event is to be determined. SCP-XXXX was brought to Foundation's attention and properly categorized after Incident A-1.

Incident A-1: Junior Researcher ████████ ran the contents of SCP-XXXX in command prompt on a personal computer and plugged in an equation which previously could not be mathematically defined in our universe due to its requirement of many immeasurable variables. After several seconds an answer was provided without any noticeable damage or alteration to the hardware or software of ████████'s computer. The scenario was later repeated with exactly the same answer.

Addendum A-1: Containment procedures have been updated. Research into the origin of SCP-XXXX is ongoing. Testing with SCP-XXXX is prohibited.

‘We need to make sure this equation doesn’t damage the systems we use. If we are absolutely certain there is no risk of this being some well-hidden malignant program designed to attack the Foundation, testing will continue.' -Dr. ████████

Addendum A-2: Origin of SCP-XXXX is still unknown. SCP-XXXX proven to be safe to use with any adequate computing system4. As of ██/██/███ testing SCP-XXXX within reason is permitted.

‘I certainly hope you understand what within reason means.’
