Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be confined to standard human quarters containing no reflective surfaces. It is to be provided the materials it needs to manage its own hygenic or medical needs without assistance. Staff are not to enter subject's quarters except in case of emergency and should make efforts to avoid looking at its face when doing so.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an elderly man of African descent bearing signs of a history of malnutrition but otherwise healthy and well-tempered. It is self-sufficent and shows signs of intelligence but is either unable or unwilling to speak, write or otherwise cooperate with inquiry, rendering its prior history unknowable.

SCP-XXXX was originally recovered as an child from a German internment camp in 1945 in poor health. It is hypothesized to have been extensively exposed to SCP-████ over a long period of time due to ███████████'s writings on the subject and its admittedly still debated properties.

Most who have observed SCP-XXXX for even a short time have remarked on its face and other features feeling strange or distorted in some way. Researchers and personnel who have spent more than a few minutes in SCP-XXXX's presence reported more detailed aberrations. SCP-XXXX's face appears at times concave in relation to its surroundings, changing when viewed from different angles. Other conflicting accounts describe SCP-XXXX's body as bearing large irregular holes revealing a hollow interior that mirrors light. The phenomenon was different for different observers and slowly evolved in complexity, eventually becoming accompanied by disconnected surreal audio and visual hallucinations. Photographs and video recordings of SCP-XXXX do not reproduce these phenomena.

Two weeks into study of SCP-XXXX it became apparent that the effect on observers was permanent and degenerative. Those affected reported an impaired ability to distinguish human faces and weakened sense of direction, and those most extensively exposed became physically uncoordinated and emotionally unstable. Support for the research was soon withdrawn, as it had failed to bear fruitful results and could no longer be justified.
