living quicksand

Item #: SCP-xxxx

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures:SCP-xxx is to be kept in an air tight holding tank measuring 90 cubic meters, with it’s own self contained life support systems. An airlock is to be attached to the holding tank were personnel can access its feeding tube and observe SCP-xxxx. Personel are to use the feeding tube to feed a polysilanol and organic nutrient paste to SCP-xxxx every 24 hours. Under no circumstance are personnel are permitted to enter the holding tank that contains SCP-xxxx.

In the event that personnel come into direct contact with SCP-xxxx no attempt should be made to save the personnel and the air lock is to be immediately sealed to prevent a containment breach.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a silicon based life form measuring about 25000 kg in mass and occupying a volume of 30 cubic meters. It’s body is made up of a conglomerate of microscopic interconnecting silicate tendrils. These tendrils appear to exert some kind of trimethylsilyl solution that SCP-XXXX immerses itself in. This gives SCP-XXXX the appearance of quick sand, however, unlike terrestrial quicksand were it is impossible for a person become completely submerged, not only is it possible for individuals to become completely submerged in SCP-XXXX but the trendils have the capability of reaching out and pulling a subject into SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX is also capable of controlling what it consumes by changing it’s viscosity. Before SCP-XXXX came under Foundation control, a group of tourist reported that while traveling they had stopped on top of SCP-XXXX, believing that it was a solid surface, so that one of the tourist could relieve himself. However as soon as the tourist got out of the vehicle the viscosity of the surface where he stood suddenly changed and the tourist quickly submerged into SCP-XXXX. The tourist that remained in the vehicle managed to get to safety as the surface under their vehicle always remained solid.

All attempts to communicate with SCP-XXXX have failed and it sentience has yet to be determined. Its origin is likely extraterrestrial in nature; the Foundation’s Astronomical division is currently reviewing reported meteorite impacts in proximity to where SCP-XXXX was found to determine the possibility that any other instance of SCP-XXXX could exist.
