Stock photo of SCP-###

Item #: SCP-###

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-### is to be kept at room temperature in lock box CDK1 at Site-30. SCP-### is accessible to those with level 2 clearance and above. Extra colored film for polaroid 600 may be stored in the same lock box.

SCP-### should be dusted once a month. It is to be checked for any damages before and after uses. All photos taken are to be filed according to when they were taken.

Addendum: All ripped photos and it’s contents shall be saved and analyzed. As of 2010 all humans that are tested with SCP-###, are to have a strong lung capacity. They are to stay no longer in the photo than their longest time of they can hold their breath or 5 minutes, whichever is shortest. Human testing should be approved by no less than 2 level 3 senior research personnel.

Descriptions: SCP-### is a black, worn Polaroid OneStep 600 instant camera measuring to be 10.7 by 14.5 by 16.5 cm, weighing 7.3 hectograms. On its left side is a purple sticker with yellow letters saying “MAGIC!” Connected to each side is a standard, slightly frayed, black neck strap.

Anomalous properties appear when a photo is taken when the flash is on. When the flash goes off, all subjects watching the subject being photographed by SCP-### will be temporarily blinded by the flash or blink uncontrollably at the same time as the flash goes off.1 After the flash goes off, the subject in the focus of SCP-### will be gone. After a few seconds, a picture of that subject will print. This implies SCP-### takes the subject out of reality and traps the subject in the photograph that the camera creates.

SCP-### was brought to the Foundation’s attention when a string of disappearances connected with a magician’s disappearing act was forced upon them. The magician in question, a Mr. Malony, was using SCP-### to take pictures of objects as his act. Then he’d ask an audience member, usually hecklers, to participate in the disappearing act. When capturing SCP-###, agents found scrapbooks of all the audience members he took pictures of over the years.

Addendum: As of incident 12390-53B it has been discovered that when photo’s that have come from SCP-### are ripped, the subject in the photos that was previously removed from reality, seem to spill out of the rip. Photo’s from SCP-### are now to be designated as SCP-###-A

Testing with SCP-###
Pre- incident

Subject: Red ball
Procedure: Subject is in focus on a white background then has its photo taken by SCP-###.
Results: Subject is gone after the flash. SCP-### prints a picture of the subject.
Analysis: Works just like it says in its file.

Subject: Blue ball
Procedure: Subject is in focus accompanied by 3 red balls in the background, not in focus. Then subject has its photo taken by SCP-###.
Results: Subject is gone after the flash but the red balls stay. SCP-### prints a picture of the subject along with the red balls in the background.
Analysis: It seems that only subjects in focus disappear.

Subject:5 colored balls on a white background
Procedure: Subjects are all in focus on a white background. Then subjects have their photo taken by SCP-###.
Results: All subjects are gone after the flash. SCP-### prints a picture of all subjects on a white background.
Analysis: SCP-### is able to take more than one subject at a time if they are in focus.

Subject: Lab rat
Procedure: Subject in focus on a white background. Subject has their photo taken by SCP-###.
Results:Subject moved its tail out of the frame right before its picture was taken, leaving a cleanly severed tail behind. SCP-### prints out a picture of subject with its tail out of frame.
Analysis: Parts of subject that is not in frame, will be severed from the subject and left behind when photographed by SCP-###.

Testing with SCP-###-A
Post incident

Subject: Photo of red ball on white background.Time in photograph 1 year.
Procedure: Ripped slowly until the item was released from the photograph.
Results: Red ball falls out of the rip at a quarter of the way in. The photo shows the white background only.
Analysis: Red ball hasn’t collected any dust nor does it look like it has changed since the day its photo was taken. Is it possible some sort of suspended animation is used?

Subject: Mouse with its tail out of frame. Time in photograph one year.
Procedure: Rip photo a quarter of the way in.
Results: A preserved body of a dead mouse without a tail falls out of the rip. Examination of the corpse shows that the mouse died of suffocation. The photo shows an empty picture with just the background.
Analysis: Not possible that any suspended animation is used. Though the photo doesn’t show any changes to the mouse, when the mouse was released from the picture, the mouse’s eyes have gone milky along with other signs of decomposition without air or outside factors, along with the smell of decomposition.

Subject: Photo of a man smiling framed shoulders to head, background the inside of a house. Time in the photograph is unknown. The photo was presumably taken by Mr. Malony.
Procedure:Rip photo a quarter of the way in.
Results: Preserved head and shoulders of a man fall out of the rip. Photo shows the inside of the house and what was behind the man’s head.
Analysis: This explains the picture of the headless body hidden behind this picture…
Like in the mouse picture, the picture of the subject before the photo was ripped, didn’t show any signs decomposition. The subject once released, shows signs of preservation due to lack of air and outside factors in its decomposition. The cause of death is contributed to having everything at its collarbones and above severed from the rest of its body. It is to be hypothesized that subjects that are trapped in SCP-###-A travel through time at the same rate as we do. Further testing is needed to theorize this.

Testing with SCP-### and SCP-###-A
Post incident

Subject: Battery powered clock
Procedure: Subject placed in front of white background, then had it’s photo taken by SCP-### at 9:05:00. Subject stayed in the photograph for 12 minutes and 30 seconds.
Results:When subject was released, time showed that 12 minutes and 30 seconds have passed.
Analysis: Subjects in SCP-###-A pass through time at the same rate as we do.

Subject: Human, D-class-8e4329
Procedure: Subject is told to hold her breath and keep their eyes open for the picture. The subject was kept in the picture for 45 seconds.
Results: Subject was able to see through the frame of the photograph. They complained that they couldn’t blink, or move their eyes.
Analysis: Experience was almost identical to Dr.Hach’s.

Subject: Human, D-class-8e4329 fitted with an oxygen tank with enough oxygen for an hour, a breathing mask, and goggles filled with saline.
Procedure: Subjects all in focus and in the vision of the camera. D-class 8e4329 was told to look 45 degrees to their left. The subject left in the picture for 55 minutes.
Results: Subject was able to see the border of where the frame ended. Reported that they could see the room cut off onto a blank white space. They reported seeing movement in the white space, something off-white moving in the white space. They asked to never to be photographed with SCP-### again.
Analysis: Test inconclusive.
