SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX should be kept in a standard containment locker in site-22. Creating instances of SCP-XXXX-1 for testing purposes requires clearance from one level 3 personnel. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 should be kept in standard containment cells.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a traditional Native American dream catcher constructed out of blue, silver, red, and orange beads, shells, and thread made from horse hair dyed the color blue. The thread is woven into a mesh net in the center of the hoop. The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX are triggered when a subject falls asleep within 10 meters of SCP-XXXX, and enters REM sleep. Subjects report having vivid nightmares while under the effect of the SCP. While the scenario differs, all subjects report encountering a creature resembling or related to something they have had negative experiences with in the past. The dream ends with the subject being caught by the monster, and being jolted awake.

Once the subject awakens, SCP-XXXX will begin to form a cocoon-like sac made from an unidentified material, woven into the net of SCP-XXXX. This substance is white, with a similar texture and strength to that of a spider's web. The sac will fall off SCP-XXXX once it reaches approximately 3 kilograms, and will continue to expand for 2 to 4 hours. Once it has ceased growth, a creature, which will henceforth be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, will emerge from the sac. Subjects have described SCP-XXXX-1 as exactly like the humanoid they met with in their dreams. Every instance of SCP-XXXX-1 behaves identically to each other, and it is debated whether they are actually sentient. SCP-XXXX-1 will stay motionless until the subject has noticed SCP-XXXX-1's presence. SCP-XXXX-1 will immediately begin to approach it's victim at a rate of about 38 km/h, and will continue to do so until it makes contact with the subject. Once it makes contact, the SCP-XXXX-1 will vanish, the subject will become unconscious due to shock, and become comatose. Subjects in this state have been observed to be in a constant state of REM.
