Item #: SCP-XXXX

Anomaly Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is nominally to be contained within Site 53 when extant. Site 53 is a taupe ranch-style house located in █████████, India, with one basement level. Site 53 is to be staffed by exactly one (1) agent at all times, to be rotated with another agent after each SCP-XXXX event. During active testing periods, level 3 or higher researchers may choose to staff the site with a single D-class personnel instead.

Site 53 is to be furnished with all reasonable necessities requested by personnel. Personnel staffing Site 53 are discouraged from leaving the confines of the site or interacting with civilians in █████████.

Site 53 is to contain no clocks or timekeeping devices such as hourglasses. Devices whose primary purpose is not timekeeping, such as computers or cellphones, are permitted.

Site 53 is to contain at least one functioning rocking chair of any type.

Personnel are not to exit the residence during a SCP-XXXX event. Personnel are to return to sleep as soon as possible during a SCP-XXXX event.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a highly localized, temporary spatial discontinuity that occurs within a residential space under certain conditions. A residential space is defined as a house, apartment building, or otherwise singular building housing humans. SCP-XXXX can only occur when a residential space is inhabited with exactly one individual. No other individuals may be present inside the building.1 Thus, large apartment blocks are very unlikely to manifest SCP-XXXX events, and it most likely to occur in single-person homes. The only other necessary precondition for the manifestation of a SCP-XXXX event is a usable rocking chair of some variety.2

An SCP-XXXX event is the temporary transposition of the residence in which the event is occurring (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1) to a different, empty reality in which only that residence exists. Precise measurements have determined that SCP-XXXX events last 2.30 nanoseconds as perceived by the outside world. As perceived by the individual inside SCP-XXXX (designated as "the subject" during the course of the event), events last somewhere from 18 minutes, 20 seconds to ████ days. SCP-XXXX events occur with a minimum separation of 34 days, 5 hours in between them. The longest recorded separation is approximately 14 months.

SCP-XXXX events invariably begin with the singular subject waking up during the NREM phase of the sleep cycle. Subjects will perceive waking up due to a creaking noise made by the rocking chair within the residence.3 At this point, the location will have been transported to an alternate reality in which only SCP-XXXX-1 exists. Outside the residence, it is surrounded by an empty and infinite void. The event will end when the subject goes back to sleep in the same piece of furniture or location they woke up in.

Based on testing and exploration recordings, SCP-XXXX-1 shows evidence of both spatial distortion inside the anomaly and psychological effects on the subject.
