The cover of SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Containment Procedure: Knowledge of SCP-XXXX, be it expressed through television, film, online and social media or word of mouth is to be repressed wherever encountered. Subjects not in physical possession of SCP-XXXX but aware of its existence are to be treated with Class-C amnestics. Instances of SCP-XXXX are to be brought to Site-47 for testing purposes to be physically destroyed, be it through combustion, physically torn or any other available methods. See Addendum 3 for details.

All instances of SCP-XXXX-a are to administered a Class-B amnestic and be put under no less then 2-5 weeks of surveillance. If amenstics prove to be ineffective initially or during this period of time, SCP-XXXX-a are to be terminated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the spiritual-philosophical paperback book titled 'Who's God? YOU, ME AND EVERYONE!', written by Vincent Aintloko1 (POI-273) and published by █████ Books [[footnote] There is no known publishing compamy by this name [[/footnote]] in ███ ████, ████ on ██/██/2014. Instances of SCP-XXXX do not enter store inventories through conventional means but simply "appear" in regions with a population ranging from ████ to 24'000, and has not been observed for sale in anywhere with a higher population.

SCP-XXXX's physically contains 356 pages, 352 of which contain size-12 Times New Roman font, black ink and is divided into 10 'chapters' of variable length. The book has no legal disclaimer of copyright, listing of works from the author, table of contents or any information besides noting the identity of the publishing company. The book itself is written in a very biographical fashion, with Aintloko speaking at considerable length of themself, their personal philosophies, the meaning of the universe and of "you". The first 108 pages of SCP-XXXX, which comprise of the books first 7 chapters, are Non-Anomalous in nature and no effects have been demonstrated to occur from reading these portions of the text. On page 109, the book will start to exhibit unnatural qualities that range in effect from different individuals. These include

  • Graphic images only the reader of SCP-XXXX can see (descriptions imply these to be images of the Lateral geniculate nucleus or the Parietal lobe, supposedly used symbolically by the author)
  • A breakdown of the five senses on par with symptoms of Synthesia
  • Vivid hallucinations of [DATA EXPUNGED] with the author seeming to apologize in the text, citing it is necessary for the intent of their 'teachings'
  • [REDACTED] because the author found that 'funny' (copy was subsequently destroyed)
  • Turn readers into SCP-XXXX-a. See Addendum 3 for details.

The tone of the book onwards will shift from the authors biographical styling and into a more educational format, proclaiming that many schools of modern philosophy are only 'partially' correct and that if the reader follows the instructions within their book, the reader shall become "just like the everyone we all know we are—a God!!". The remaining three chapters are vague, heavily metaphorical ramblings with no discernible reason or logical transitioning, with cohesive text appearing with specific instructions for the reader. If these instructions are met during or following a reading of the book, the individual shall become an instance of SCP-XXXX-a.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-a can be distinguished from normal humans unaffected by SCP-XXXX in a variety of ways, the most physically significant being the severe differences of composition of the brain. SCP-XXXX-a will grow large masses of eye-like organs upon and inside the cerebrum cortex, and optical nerves will attach themselves to the main spinal column. These 'eyes' are physically unable to receive any kind of signals to the brain, and are biologically inert.

Subjects that have become SCP-XXXX-a will report that "they know now" and become low scale Reality Warpers, able to change the physical composition of any items within a spherical area of roughly 10 metres, and can exhibit abilities such as telekinesis of objects and self, telepathy and various phenomena that, although not overtly dangerous, are in violation of the conventional laws of phsyics.

SCP-XXXX-a will only remain this form for as long as they retain information of the books contents. If they administered with amnestics, they will revert back to their previous, unaffected form and any effects caused by them shall revert to normal it is plausible they shall revert to a normal state. See Addendum 3 for details.

Addendum: SCP-XXXX was initially discovered by Foundation personnel on ██/██/2015 in the store "███████ Books", Port ███████, Canada and were subsequently observed to be spread across the globe in select areas, mostly throughout small portions of North and South America and Europe. The book had very poor sales and instances of SCP-XXXX-a were extremely low as most readers rid themselves of the book with only a few reporting on it on social media. Its anomalous effects only caught the attention of Foundation personnel came across an individual on the social media site Twitter, expressing confusion on why they were gaining vivid hallucinations from simply reading a book, along with a screencap of the cover.

All known copies of the book were acquired by member of MTF Pi-14 ("Shelf Duty") and were put into Foundation care where they were subsequently tested and deemed Safe due to the precise manner in which one must go through to become SCP-XXXX-a and how simple it is to reverse the process.

Addendum 2: On ██/██/2015, Foundation personnel discovered what appeared to be a personal blog to Vincent Aintloko during an unrelated operation into an Anomalous Artists group. Although IP Address tracking has proved impossible to determine a concrete location for Aintloko, he has stated throughout numerous posts that he "is heavily involved in the community" and that he's "over enthused that his [sic] work is getting so much traction and support!", even going so far as to suggest making more works in collaboration with others.

Upon discovering this, Foundation personnel quickly began to post critiques and criticisms on the blog aimed around the authors work and lifestyle, in an attempt to deter the author from further actions. Individuals supposedly outside of direct Foundation influence were subsequtnly driven by this, and in a few weeks Aintloko received a significant increase of traffic to their blogsite with numerous comments and messages of a hostile nature being sent. At this point, Foundation personnel no longer began to post on Aintloko's blog, instead just supervising and reporting on activity.

Addendum 3: On ██/██/2016, Vincent Aintloko posted an update on his blog, titled [REDACTED]. The following is the blogpost, censored for safety.

I hope you all liked that. Because that's a little compilation of all the shit you people have been throwing at me. I really don't understand why everyone has been so sadistic as of late. Yeah, so my writing isn't the best. Maybe I ramble—so fucking what? You all knew that when you got my book. I've posted about that here and over at ███████.net. I've never hid what this was about and how it would be; I've been as close to you guys with the truth as fuckin' possible; and you're all complaining that I lied to you!? Saying I'm some fuckwad because you didn't want eyes popping out of your heads, even though you all agreed that was the best idea to See It and Do It!
[COGNITOHAZARDS REMOVED]

As of ██/██/2015, Vincent Aintloko's blog has been inactive, and all copies of SCP-XXXX now have a much faster and fatal transition of its readers into SCP-XXXX-a, with the abundance of eyes now able to actively interfere with the activities of the brain and subjects most commonly dying instantly or entering a vegetive, braindead state. This transition now takes effect when the reader opens to the first page of the book, which is now a dedication page to "all the people who gave me the drive to make us a real God". With the more overtly hostile nature of its effects, SCP-XXXX has gained a Euclid classification, and is to be destroyed on sight as to not cause further instances of SCP-XXXX-a.
