Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to kept be in a 4x4 m locked container A-D111 which doubles as a gas chamber. If personnel is required to enter SCP-XXXX's container, they must at all times be deprived of their eyesight. A singular light bulb must at all times be present in container A-D111. This lightbulb is only to be used during bimonthly checkups. SCP-XXXX has no need for nutrition and/or companionship - as a result of █████████ involving Dr. ███ (terminated) and subsequent subjects - protocol now requires confirmation of SCP-XXXX's state and needs before entrance is considered.

Description: SCP-XXXX is best described 'a presence': thorough investigation from Dr. ███ (terminated) and Dr. ██████ have shown that SCP-XXXX constitutes no matter or energy, but is limited by the room he is contained in. Further investigation was halted after a second, possible escape could have taken place using Dr. ███ (terminated) to reach [REDACTED].

When visual contact with SCP-XXXX has been made, it will take/has the form of 'a human eye'. SCP-XXXX will remain visible until the subject blinks. At that point the subject will willingly or forcibly dismiss the event as 'imagined' and continue their lives.

Subjects will eventually commit suicide in a public, enclosed location (public bathroom, museum, etc.) where SCP-XXXX is sure to be seen by someone. The pattern of suicides, per Dr. ██████, shows a clear intent to reach a specific location, [REDACTED]. It has been theorized that SCP-XXXX cannot indefinitely lay dormant his hosts' body which is currently unexplained as the eventual suicide of the host has been inevitable despite SCP-XXXX lacking the need for nutrition itself.

SCP-XXXX has been placed on the "maintenance" list since [REDACTED]: bimonthly, an unknowing subject will be required to enter container A-D111. The lightbulb will be on during this test. After it has been confirmed that SCP-XXXX is still present, the subject will be terminated within the container. Blinded personnel must then remove subject's remains.

If SCP-XXXX is not checked upon bimonthly random personnel have reported experiencing vividly visual, auditory hallucinations which result in the desire to seek and/or release SCP-XXXX. Dr. ██████ has since concluded that bimonthly checkups are both more efficient and safer.

Addendum: In ████, the following experiment took place in an attempt to understand and possibly terminate SCP-XXXX:

90% of Class D subjects, whom had been blinded, were asked to describe SCP-XXXX after having spend 1 hour in container A-D111. Personal records have been considered worthless ( "a mix of rambling thoughts fueled by madness", as per Dr. ████ ) and have been [REDACTED] Upon being asked for clarifiction subjects agreed on the following description: 'The utmost corner of one's field of vision. There, in that corner, it wants me to look at it. It needs me to look at it. Let me look at it. ' Subjects subsequently refused to agree on a less personal description, insisted on having their chemically destroyed eyesight restored and were visibly unsettled upon discovering this to be impossible. Subjects that did not attempt or succeed at committing suicide by self-inflicted eye-mutilation were then terminated to avoid a breach.

10% of Class D subjects, those whom had not been blinded, experienced the following phenomena:
- Upon entering the room, subjects felt uncomfortable and refused to direct their attention towards a random (1/4) corner of container A-D111's ceiling.
- After 15 minutes, subjects experienced vivid, and remarkable, hallucinations: subjects claimed to "see" (visually) cries for help, whispers, and various other auditory sensations.
- After 30 minutes - 1 hour, subjects can no longer resist what they describe as ' a burning temptation', and describe briefly seeing a single human eye in their dreaded corner, which dissapears upon blinking or otherwise breaking visual contact. From this point onwards, subjects show no form of bodily, or mental harm and simply insist on being released. All but one, ████, were terminated. ████ claimed to have resisted temptation and showed no signs of discomforting mental behaviour.

████ was eventually allowed to leave the facility. After reaching the nearest form of public transpartation ████ set way towards ██████. There ████ committed suicide in a toilet booth and "the eye" was seen by a commoner,[REDACTED]. This process repeated itself ████ times until SCP-XXXX was once again secured by Eta-10
[ Similar experiments and further testing since requires a 2/3 council vote ]
