SCP-XXXX

Item #: SCP-XXXX (awaiting number classification)

Object Class: Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures:

SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a standard 5x5m containment unit. Containment unit must contain walls made of Carbon steel (any form high or low) to ensure escape is not possible.

All experiments are allowed to be done in the containment unit of SCP-XXXX. All experiments are acceptable unless it involves physical contact with SCP-XXXX. Results in this are loss of hands, feet, or loss of any body part which come in contact.

All experiments must be performed on Carbon steel and SCP-XXXX should remain on steel at all times. This is to prevent any damage to the containment unit SCP-XXXX is located in. It can't break Carbon steel.

This SCP is in its newborn stage. It poses no harm to anyone. All safety regulations are now unnecessary.

As for the shell, it is to be removed in a Carbon Steel box.

Description:
SCP-XXXX resembles a newborn baby which has pitch black skin, blue glowing eyes, a blue glowing mouth, and grey legs on the back of its body. The grey legs can cause minor burns on skin which lead to rashes. When skin meets contact with legs, skin can get irritated (which causes the burning feeling) similar to an allergic reaction. We are still deciding on a name for the new species.

The cube shell it used to be in has blue markings around the margin of it's body. X-rays show a ball shaped hole in the center of the box which might explain why it is so light. which was holding the baby SCP. If anything but Carbon steel comes into contact with SCP-XXXX's shell, it will disintegrate. Thermal cams do show that the material either converts to heat, or it might just be a reaction to the material it comes into contact with.

SCP-XXXX was first discovered in it's egg state in the forest of Northern Canada where it was breaking down a tree from the top bottom. The witnesses were able to catch this cube with a steel plate they had in handy and discovered that it would not break down the molecules of it. With curiosity, the younger witness touched it, resulting in the loss of his hand. He was sent to the hospital while the block was sent to the SCP. While selecting a cell to place the block in, it would tug the plate to the containment unit marked XXXX, which was empty, and that is where it stays today.
Reference:

There is only one recorded death of a personnel. One subject failed to follow procedure, resulting in the loss of his head.

He had experience with the SCP in it's egg state. Here is his journal which we are disclosing to the public.

The following is from selected chapters of the journal

Day 1, SCP-XXXX

I started research on this block just an hour ago and it's property to disintegrate is outstanding. I know I am here to do research on this SCP, but it could be a new way to get rid of waste! Just the fact that it disintegrate matter without leaving smoke can help us stop Co2 from entering the atmosphere when removing waste.

Update: I just did a test with thermal cams and was disappointing to see that the block would emit Co2 when coming in contact with matter. I did find out, however, that this block can break trough steel if it is not Carbon steel. This would make sense considering the fact that carbon cannot be destroyed.

Day 2, SCP-XXXX

Today I confronted the block once again and performed an X-ray. There is a ball that is in the center of the cube which could explain the portable weight it possess.

Tomorrow we will test the cube on rats that were just shipped in. ██████ out.

Update: I just heard at the cafeteria that the man who sent this cube to us had a brother who lost his hand simply by touching it. This could be what happens to the rats tomorrow, but there is no way to know until he test starts.

Day 3, SCP-XXXX

I accidentally made contact with the cube. My hand, now half missing, fell victim to the box. I felt a strange presence when I touched the box, like something was inside it. I talked with the previous owners and they didn't have the same experience as I did. With little evidence to support my experience, I just have to assume it was my imagination.

As an aside, the box seems to have a slight crack on it. We tried to get trough it with a tin tipped axe but it was no use.

Update: Update: We tested the rats, and as I predicted, ceased to exist after touching the box. I must have been lucky not to be holding on the the box for that long.

We also were able to watch and see how Carbon Steel is resisting disintegration. Due to Carbon steel containing carbon. it is able to push off the block from the surface of the steel. This could also explain why signatures of Carbon are present on the cube even after an object is placed on it. The molecules are pushing against each other.

It is getting harder to write. Because of my hand and because of something I fear might happen to the block.

We later asked for notes on the SCP to gather information about the box/newborn from the assistant. Here is what we got.

SCP-XXXX

Shell contained high signals of carbon and possess the ability to break down matter. Shell was used as protective case for newborn, much like seeds in a pineapple. The newborn possess no way to kill anyone and can only mildly burn a person by touching back legs. It is free to move freely in site 24 with all other SCP's.

Nutrition: SCP-XXXX is required to eat metal, rats, and wood in a daily meal. Due to his nutritious diet being similar to what we tested on the shell, workers are warned to be careful as he may grow an apatite for human flesh.
