Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: A digital copy of SCP-XXXX is to be stored on a secure Foundation server in Site-19. It is to be scanned electronically on a weekly basis; should any changes from the current baseline be detected, MTF Delta-29 ("Nostalgia Junkies") is to search for any instances of SCP-XXXX outside of containment. Should located instances not match any currently in containment, they are to be confiscated and scanned into the Foundation database. All duplicate instances are to be destroyed.

Update 6/201█: Access to SCP-XXXX, for testing purposes or otherwise, is denied without express written permission from the Project Director. Any changes to SCP-XXXX-A or the surrounding area constitutes a containment breach and is to be reported to the Project Director immediately.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a collection of 16 editions of the ████████ ████ Reporter, dated between July 198█ and October 199█ (referred to as SCP-XXXX-01 through SCP-XXXX-16, ordered by date of publication). These editions are nonconsecutive, with gaps of several months between most instances. The publication is a monthly newsletter for the neighborhood of ████████ ████, Kentucky (referred to as SCP-XXXX-A). SCP-XXXX-A was founded in 189█, incorporated into the city of ██████████ in 192█, and razed in late 199█ to make room for a planned expansion for █████████ International Airport. SCP-XXXX covers the ten years leading up to SCP-XXXX-A's demolition. Earlier editions typically convey general announcements and chronicle local events, while later editions focus on the ██████████ Airport Authority's buyout of the town and reflect on the town's history.

Subjects reading all instances of SCP-XXXX in chronological order will begin to feel a strong sense of nostalgia for SCP-XXXX-A, even if they have never visited the town before. Subjects will be able to provide distinct details about key landmarks, prominent businesses, and noteworthy citizens of SCP-XXXX, including details not found in any known instance of SCP-XXXX. As they reach the final editions, subjects will become fully convinced that they are former residents of SCP-XXXX-A, with most subjects reaching this stage exhibiting intense anger directed towards the ██████████ Airport Authority. These effects are significantly reduced in subjects reading SCP-XXXX only in part and/or out of order. Amnestic therapy has proven 100% effective in subjects only partially exposed to SCP-XXXX, but has failed with all subjects receiving full exposure.

Acquisition Log: SCP-XXXX was discovered when digital copies were posted to a discussion forum on [REDACTED], a website dedicated to the history of ██████████ and its various neighborhoods, with the title "The TRUTH behind the deplorable destruction of ████████ ████!". Most replies to the original post expressed varying levels of anger at the fate of SCP-XXXX-A, with several users threatening physical violence against the ██████████ Airport Authority. When Foundation web crawlers detected a high concentration of key words indicating possible violent behavior, SCP-XXXX was downloaded to Foundation servers for testing as a possible infohazard, and the original forum post was erased. Users who responded to the post were tracked down and administered Class-A amnestics. These proved successful in ██ out of ██ cases; the remaining █ are currently detained for observation in Site-19.

The original user who posted SCP-XXXX has not yet been identified and is classified as PoI-XXXX-Alpha.

Addendum XXXX-A: On 07/14/200█, D-9725 was exposed to SCP-XXXX as part of standard testing. Subject was selected due to his former home being in ███████, a neighborhood located within █ km of SCP-XXXX-A. After the test, it was found during scheduled weekly examination that SCP-XXXX-8 had been altered to list D-9725 as a member of the neighborhood council. No evidence of external tampering was found.

Addendum XXXX-B: On 10/09/200█, █████ ████, a former resident of SCP-XXXX-A, was interviewed about her experiences and memories of residing in the town. When asked about notable citizens, Mrs. ████ mentioned D-9725 by name. According to Mrs. ████, he was the owner of [REDACTED], a popular diner, and was a well-respected member of the community. A search through city records confirmed both the diner's existence and D-9725's ownership of it; however, D-9725's family and close friends unanimously denied that D-9725 had any significant business with the town or any of its residents. Investigation into this discrepancy of accounts is currently ongoing.

Incident XXXX-1: On 6/12/201█, shortly after the conclusion of scheduled testing with SCP-XXXX, the Foundation received a report from MTF Delta-29 that all buildings within a ███ m2 area immediately west of SCP-XXXX-A, as well as all ███ occupants of those buildings, had vanished. A survey of the area revealed that the streets in this area had deteriorated significantly, as would be consistent with extended neglect. After the incident, city records were found to have been updated to include the area within the legal boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A despite previously having been part of the adjacent neighborhood of █████████████. A cover story about a sudden gas explosion destroying the buildings in question was successfully disseminated to the general public.

Shortly after the incident occurred, SCP-XXXX was found to have been updated with a new edition dated November 19██, one month after the last known publication of SCP-XXXX. This new edition consisted of a single page. In addition to listing neighborhood council members and providing information about property price negotiation as is typical of later editions, the following article was printed at the bottom of the page:

MORE HELP NEEDED
As the saying goes, there is strength in numbers. While our efforts to recruit additional citizens has so far met with remarkable success, it has only delayed the fate of our wonderful town. The corrupt, criminal Airport Authority recently announced that, despite the delays caused by our sudden increase in population, it intends to begin demolition by the end of the month.

While circumstances may feel hopeless, it's not too late to save ████████ ████ from annihilation! We refuse to stand by idly and let our town, which has stood on this ground for over a century, be wiped off the map by a pack of greedy fat cats who care more about how they'll make another buck than the well-being and memories of our law-abiding citizens. We have already made significant progress, and all we need is more help!

Spread the word to your friends, family, whoever you can get to listen! Get them to read the Reporter so that they can learn the storied history of our town and the horrible truth about those who wish to destroy it for their own selfish gain. Our ultimate goal to make ████████ ████ too large for them to destroy can still be accompished. We may be small and insignificant to them now, but it's only a matter of time and effort before destroying us will cause a public outcry.

With your help, we can beat them. We can ensure that ████████ ████ lives on forever.

Special Containment Procedures have been updated in light of the number of casualties resulting from the event. Because he or she remains at large and represents a high risk for future containment breaches and, as a result, future incidents of this nature, identification and detainment of PoI-XXXX-Alpha has been raised to priority level 2
