SCP-001 is a memetic phenomenon affecting citizens of Australia/Mu, which causes all affected persons to rapidly expand, colonize, and develop the continent through anomalously effective means. An analogy for nationalism and dictatorships, this scip has citizens that fiercely defend the megalopolis, possessing a strict desire to prevent any immigration, but no desire to expand past Australia/Mu, believing all other lands to be inherently inferior to their own.

Description: SCP-███ is a 25,900.8 m2 area located in Hong Kong, China. SCP-███ expands at a rate of 1 m2/day when not contained. SCP-███ contains approximately 50,000 SCP-███-A instances at time of writing. SCP-███-A instances are physically non-anomalous individuals that voluntarily expand SCP-███ while they are not currently indisposed. To date, no compulsive effect has been linked to SCP-███. It is currently unknown how SCP-███-A instances obtain the materials necessary to expand SCP-███.

- The city council elects to preserve the national parks and countryside, only expanding in already established population centers.
- Chuquicamata is the largest open pit mine in the world, near the city of Calama in Chile. [SOURCE: WIKIPEDIA]
- Potential Factory tie-in.
- Uses a mock GOI format based on actual city government documents which is presented under "recovered documents".
- Consider making a flag for the city, a purple/blue/black or purple/blue/red tricolor representing the city (Americas) the Atlantic ocean, and the unaffected world. Perhaps adding a star in roughly the same area where the city began (now considered the "capital").
- Story is mainly told through chat logs/video calls/phone calls/emails/mail between the city and the rest of the world.
- The main concept behind this rewrite is the sheer, unwavering, frustrating normalcy of the city. No aspect of it outside of its expansion is anomalous in any way. Ergo, it might be a cool idea to have it so that the city neutralizes anomalies.

ORDER OF EVENTS

- Tab #1: Opens with a very straightforward concept - ever expanding city that's contained fairly easily. Of note is that I refuse to go for the classic "ever increasing object class" angle because it's a bit overdone and predictable. No, this one stays as constant and unchanging as it can.
- Tab #2: Neutralized entry. Obviously not the end, everyone knows that, there's still two more tabs left. This focuses on a GOC operation that goes into the bowels of the city and destroys it through sheer brute force and sledgehammers.
- Tab #3: It's back, and better than ever. Either too difficult to destroy or not possible to. Sheer frustration starts to build as Santiago de León de Caracas expands past what the original Kowloon wall could contain. Evacuation plans are put in place for all people, including those in Santiago.
- Tab #4: Most of South America is consumed by SCP-001, with Central America completely covered. Potentially ends with saying that no further revisions could be recovered, and ending on the same title bombshell that the original did. Other option is simply ending on that note, purposefully leaving readers unsatisfied.

This is a complete re-write of Tufto's abandoned 001 proposal "The neon god they made". Original was a city that kept increasing in size and becoming more and more efficient as time went on, slowly consuming the world. It ended with a note about how each mainlister would get an aesthetically pleasing title. This version ends on the Americas being completely consumed, but the city doesn't leave. It's just, there, something that is never spoken of again by unaffected persons.
And so the fat lady began to sing.
