Item #: SCP-1807

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: The building in which the object is installed has been renovated and restored, upgraded with standard site security measures and is constantly manned. The building shall operate under the pretence of being a minor law firm, Sulley & Carter Practices, officially dubbed Area-1807. Any civilian requesting employment or legal representation is to be declined and escorted from the building.
The object and the rooms immediately surrounding it have been sealed off, allowing access only through the facility basement.

No staff members are permitted to activate SCP-1807 without express consent from the area director.

Description: Object appears to be an elevator, apparently constructed during the early 1920s, installed in ██ ██████ Street, London, an office building abandoned on ██/██/19██ due to the owner, ████ █████, declaring bankruptcy.
The fact that the building had remained unoccupied for ██ years without being condemned suggests interference, though such speculations have not been conclusively proven or disproven.
Apart from being fully functional despite being in working order after years without maintenance, the object displays no anomalous qualities while at rest or unoccupied. When in use, however, any living matter of the animal kingdom within will experience levels of necrosis, degradation of physical capacities and degradation of mental capacities dependant on the period of time spent descending. SCP-1807 will not ascend until empty of animal entities. The “emergency stop” and “open door” buttons seem to be non-functional.

Changes experienced within SCP-1807 are permanent. Any attempts to repair any damage done by SCP-1807 will be unsuccessful; transplanted organs and prosthetics immediately show degradation equal to the level expressed by the rest of the body.

Descent of a single level has proven manageable, if painful. Due to decreased function of natural healing mechanisms, bones and internal organs (particularly of the nervous and circulatory systems), any further descent becomes eventually debilitating.

Addendum: Reclassification to Euclid is being considered, due to the location of the object.
Suggestion to house other Safe-class items in the facility is being considered.
