Dino's Box of SCPs

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently being held in Site-██. SCP-XXXX containment chamber is to be constantly under camera observation despite what state is may be in. The chamber, at all times, must be larger than SCP-XXXX's activation radius, which means that the chamber must always be, and at least, 10x10 meters in area and perimeter. SCP-XXXX must never be moved within it's containment chamber, for this would move and disrupt symmetry of the chamber and would require it to be dismantled and moved to where it is symmetrical with the SCP item. It's containment chamber is to be kept a constant incubation temperature of 36.5° Celsius and is to be plated in 5 in of stainless steel on all surfaces besides the one sided observation window at the front of the chamber, which is to be constructed using bullet proof glass. If an instance of SCP-XXXX resembles that of SCP-XXXX-67, then it is to be neutralized ASAP.

Description: SCP-XXXX resembles the egg of a Struthio camelus (Common Ostrich). It is, compared to the natural Ostrich Egg, surprisingly unnatural in size and diameter. Being 20.6 cm in length and height and 16.7 cm in diameter. Besides it's unnatural size, SCP-XXXX's physical appearance is not unlike an ordinary egg. However, SCP-XXXX's anomalous effects activate when a mammal of any species enters the subject's activation radius.

When an mammal enters within five (5) meters of the SCP-XXXX, the egg will undergo a rapid change that can only be described as an accelerated incubation with time around the object being sped up by fifty percent (50%). It will incubate until the point it is ready to hatch and, upon hatching, will release a partially grown replicate of a random species of reptile. Subject's X-Ray scans during this event have shown that the reptilian embryo within the egg is somehow manifested out of the yolk without the needed of any sort of DNA insertion. Once this birthing process has been completed, the egg will reconstruct itself into it's original self over the process of thirty (30) minutes. After it's hatching, the birthed specimen is to be labeled SCP-XXXX-1. Ninety percent (90%) of all SCP-XXXX instances are somehow genetically different or modified compared to their actual species look alikes. Instances have shown some of the of the following:

  • Multiple extra appendages upon the specimen's body.
  • Multiple extra and as of yet unidentifiable organs that have not been found in any other known organisms.
  • Genetically inherited diseases that inevitably lead to the specimen's death.
  • Specimens that have heavily modified physical appearances that adopt the looks of the side of a cracking and erupting volcano.
  • Camouflages that bend light and color to make the specimen appear invisible. Several containment breaches have occurred due to this.
  • Infectious growths upon the specimens' body that, whenever the specimen nears a mammal, spontaneously combust both themselves and the entire specimen, killing it and releasing a substance that varies between various types of acids and diseases such as a sort of liquefied version of the pathogen known as Chicken Pox. These specimens have been nicknamed 'Boomers'.
  • Specimen resembles that of a species that dates back to the Cretaceous period. (See Addendum-XXXX for further information)

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered in █████, Democratic Republic of The Congo, Africa. The item came to Site-██'s attention after they caught wind of complaints in the surrounding area about a Crocodylus niloticus (Nile Crocodile) with, according to the natives, twenty (20) [REDACTED]. Agents ██████ █████████ and █████████ █████ were dispatched into the area with orders to contain the instance when they found SCP-XXXX and SCP-XXXX-1 through 7. Item and instances were secured and placed into temporary containment until finally placed in permanent containment at Site-██, where it resides now.

At this point in time, there have been a total of ███ instances of SCP-XXXX-1. These are to be named SCP-XXXX-1 through ███. Of these ███, only ██ are still alive and/or in SCP containment. The request of examining SCP-XXXX-67 has been granted by Level 5 operatives.
