SCP-XXXX "The Keeper's Dagger"

Item: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secure 30 cm by 30 cm glass case inside of a 10 m by 10 m concrete room. SCP-XXXX is not to come into contact with skin. If SCP-XXXX comes into contact with skin isolate the subject and inform ██ ███████. SCP-XXXX is never to be removed from containment unless authorized by Level Three or higher personnel. No photographic or video capture are to be used near SCP-XXXX, two armed guards and a researcher are to be posted inside of the cell, staying at a maximum of 4 meters away from SCP-XXXX. Standard equipment will be supplied to document SCP-XXXX.

Description: In appearance SCP-XXXX is a dagger. The blade is 20 cm long and 5 mm thick, the hilt being 14.5 cm long and 1.5 cm thick. The blade is made out of steel and has four unknown symbols carved into it. More symbols are located on the base of the wooden hilt with the word "Keeper" written under them. When inside of the 4 meter safety zone the SCP begins to slowly slide towards whoever has stepped within 4 meters of SCP-XXXX. Those within 2 meters will start to hear muffled whispering and start having visions of dark humanoid figures watching them.

SCP-XXXX was located in █████ █████████ on ██-██-████. The male who had found SCP-XXXX was a farmer in █████████. The following log was taken when Task Force ████-███ arrived at Site-██.

<Begin Log>
Task Force member: "Command, we are ten meters away from the given location of the anomaly."
Command: "Very well, proceed with caution."
[One minute of radio silence]
Task Force member: "Command, we have entered some sort of dead zone."
Command: "Dead zone?"
Task Force member: "All the crops have died and have turned black within proximity to the SCP, measuring now."
[Five minutes of radio silence]
Task Force Member: "Object Secured. Dead Zone is a 6 meter circle with the Object being located within the centre."
<Static>

Closing Statement: Communication was then cut from the Task Force until they were within 1.5 km from the nearest foundation facility. Task Force ████-███ returned to the nearest foundation facility with no trouble. It is still unknown what had caused communications to cease; a number of tests have proven that SCP-XXXX does not interfere with radio transmissions.

When exposed to any photographic or video capture, that photo and/or video begins to emit a low humming noise that gets louder over time. The humming slowly turns into a high pitched scream and causes nausea and blindness, while extended exposure to this noise can lead to death or insanity. The noise persists until the image or video is destroyed.

If SCP-XXXX comes into contact with skin the subject will begin hallucinating and will refuse the removal of the object from their person. If not treated within an hour the subject will become extremely hostile towards everything that moves. If the subject manages to hold onto the SCP for a full 24 hours they will enter a trance like state and will obey any order given to them. If given the order to release the SCP the subject will appear distressed and panicked on the release of SCP-XXXX. The subject will remain in this state until SCP-XXXX re-enters their hands.

Interviewed: Researcher ██████ (With SCP-XXXX in hand)
Interviewer: ██ ███████
Foreword: Researcher ██████1 unexpectedly broke into the containment area of SCP-XXXX and had killed both guards to get SCP-XXXX. The following conversation took place when Researcher ██████ picked up a security radio and began to talk.

Researcher ██████: "Hello?"
██ ███████: "Hello ██████ this is ██ ███████"
Researcher ██████: "They call for me to" <Static> "I must" <Static>
██ ███████: "Listen, you are hallucinating, what you are experiencing right now is not real"
Researcher ██████: "I wish that were true I really do. But these things are more than real"
██ ███████: "What do you me-" [Seeing the opportunity to find out the effects of being this close to SCP-XXXX ██ ███████ cuts himself off]
██ ███████: "What do you see ██████, what do they want you to do?"
Researcher ██████: "I see them"
██ ███████: "Describe them for me"
Researcher ██████: "….They are tall….dark and"
██ ███████: "And what?"
██ ███████: "██████ are you there?"
[Three minutes of radio silence]
Researcher ██████: "No….I" <Static> "asked"
Researcher ██████: "Please……no"
[A gasp is cut off as Researcher ██████ lets go of the transmit button]

Closing Statement: Researcher ██████ was found dead inside the containment area with gashes on his chest and arms. An autopsy revealed that SCP-XXXX was not the cause of the wounds. Since this incident the amount of guards around SCP-XXXX has been increased to four.

Addendum A: More testing on SCP-XXXX has revealed that it does not cause visible wounds. If cut by SCP-XXXX the subject will feel pain but no wound will show; the blade simply passes though flesh.

[A:1] On 16-4-20██ SCP-XXXX began move across the floor towards the North East corner of its containment and continued to slide up the wall.

[A:2] Ever since the incident involving Researcher ██████ SCP-XXXX has been moving without anyone being within the 4 meter safety zone.

[A:3] Another test was completed using SCP-XXXX. The Volunteer reported seeing the same figures that Researcher ██████ witnessed. SCP-XXXX was safely removed from the volunteer's possession.
The volunteer went missing later that day.

[A:4] SCP-XXXX █████ ██ █████ ███ █ █████ █████ ██ ███ ██████ ██ ████.

[A:5] ██ ██-██-████ SCP-XXXX █████ ████ ███ ██████ █████ ███████████.

[A:6] All testing on SCP-XXXX and the black figures that accompany it is to be ceased.

SCP-XXXX is to be moved to a more secure containment with soundproofed steel walls and the glass is to be replaced by 30 mm thick bulletproof glass.
