Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard fire-proof safe inside of Site-76. To avoid creating an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, class-D personnel are to use SCP-XXXX no more than once. In the event that an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 is accidentally created, the instance should be administered class-A amnestics and then quarantined in a soundproof cell for at least three (3) days and is not to be allowed any writing materials or utensils. Any personnel exposed to an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 must also be given class-A amnestics and quarantined for at least three (3) days before returning to duty. All writings and voice recordings of SCP-XXXX-1 should be destroyed immediately upon discovery.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a composition notebook with a black and white patterned cover containing the name Henrietta G. along with instructions on how to use SCP-XXXX written on the inside of the front cover. The dimensions of SCP-XXXX are 24 cm x 19 cm and it contains 100 sheets of wide ruled paper. As of the writing of this document, fifteen (15) pages of SCP-XXXX are completely full.

To trigger SCP-XXXX’s anomalous effects, a human (hereafter referred to as the user) must hold a writing utensil or other substance that can be used to mark paper1 to a page SCP-XXXX. Next, the user must think about a mystery or problem. Upon thinking of a mystery or problem, the user will enter a trance and begin writing on SCP-XXXX. The subject will invariably write a poem on SCP-XXXX2. The poem always pertains to the mystery or question asked though direct solutions are rare and more often than not serve as hints rather than answers. After the poem has been finished the subject will exit the trance.

Repeated use of SCP-XXXX will result in changes in the user's normal speech and writing patterns. After two to four (2-4)3 uses, the user will begin occasionally rhyming his or her sentences. After five to seven (5-7) uses, these rhymes will become more frequent. The user will also begin to exhibit a greater appreciation of poetry then prior to using SCP-XXXX. After eight to eleven (8-11) uses, the user will rhyme almost all of his or her sentences as well as begin to speak in iambic pentameter. The user also begins to favor poetry over other forms of art or entertainment. After twelve to fifteen (12-15) uses, the user will become an instance of SCP-XXXX-14.

When the user becomes an instance of SCP-XXXX-1, he or she will absolutely reject forms of art or entertainment that do not involve some form of poetry. Instances of SCP-XXXX will also speak and write exclusively in poems. In addition, an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 also poses a memetic threat. The vocalizations and writings of an instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will infect other individuals, gradually turning them into other instances of SCP-XXXX-1. Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 can be "cured" by means of administering class-A amnestics.

SCP-XXXX was recovered from a town in ████████████, ███ following a large scale outbreak of SCP-XXXX-1. This outbreak caused three (3) Foundation agents and ██ civilians becoming instances of SCP-XXXX-1. The threat was identified as being memetic and shortly after Foundation agents dispersed class-E amnestics over the town by means of aircraft. Following this, residents that were identified as having been infected were individually administered class-A and a cover story involving a chemical spill by a nearby Foundation front company, Samson Brother's Chemical Products, was feed to local media leading to the town being evacuated so the town could be searched for any writings and voice recordings as well as the initial cause of the outbreak.

Further investigation led to the discovery of SCP-XXXX in the bedroom of a local high school student named Henrietta G█████████ who is believed to have originally created SCP-XXXX. Police reports indicate that Henrietta G█████████ was reported missing several days before the outbreak occurred. Foundation agents are currently investigating into her disappearance.
