Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: A concrete wall has been built around SCP-XXXX approximately 150 meters offshore to prevent marine mammals from being affected of SCP-XXXX. Cameras have been placed around SCP-XXXX. Should any instances of SCP-XXXX-1 be seen proper staff must be notified for the termination of SCP-XXXX-1 instances. Any instances uncontained instances of SCP-XXXX-1 found outside of the containment area must be terminated by Mobile Task Force Alpha-6 (Silver Bullets) or Mobile Task Force Alpha-1000 (Black Lagoon Fishermen). Actions have be taken to prevent public awareness of SCP-XXXX such as redirection of air traffic and censorship of satellite photos.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a small island approximately ████ kilometers off the coast of Argentina. This island is approximately 24 kilometers long and 16 kilometers wide and is covered by a lush jungle and contains no animal or plant life (See Addendum 1). SCP-XXXX-1 refers to mammals that are exposed to SCP-XXXX-1's primary effect. SCP-XXXX's primary effect is that when any mammal comes within 75 meters of the island they exhibit changes to their physiology that happen over the course of 15-25 days. These changes, though largely unpredictable, usually include the following:

  • Increase in overall size
  • Increased aggressive tendencies
  • Decrease in brain activity
  • Unnatural bone-like growths

Exploration Log
Opening: Shortly after SCP-XXXX was discovered, a team, of four, led by Captain William L. Johnson was sent in, to determine the origin of instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 0, 2/9/38 Tomorrow I will lead Jones, Brown, and Davis to an island. Command doesn't know much about it, just that it is full of anomalous creatures. Our job is to find out more information.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 1, 2/10/38 We have arrived on the island. Command gave me some pictures of what the monsters looked like. I've been told to avoid them, but that we can kill them in self defense.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 2, 1/11/38 I think I saw one. It was kind of far away and I don't think that it noticed us. I wasn't able to get a good look at it though.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 4, 2/13/38 One of them got Brown. It took us by surprise. We were just walking and it jumped down from the tree and bit his head off. I shot it three times in the head and that killed it, but it was too late. It looked kind of like a monkey, but at least 3 meters tall. Since we won't be able to bring Brown's body back, we gave him a proper burial

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 6, 2/15/38 We've been much more careful and killed an other one before it could do any harm. This one was more wolf like with sharp bones jutting out from it's back.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 7, 2/16/38 Nothing much new. I don't know if it's the pressure or just natural but I have a really bad headache.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 10, 2/19/38 They killed Davis. While we were preoccupied by one of the monsters an other one went up from behind and attacked Davis. I was able to kill it, but it badly wounded Davis and he died shortly after. It's all my fault. Jones said that burying Davis would take too much time, but I'm going to bury him tonight

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 11, 2/20/38 We're going to head back. We're already two members down. We can't finish the mission like this.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 13, 2/22/38 I think the island is changing me. I can't believe I didn't notice before but I'm much larger, and these bumps are growing on my forehead. Jones has noticed too. Maybe I'm turning into one of the monsters.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 16, 2/25/38 Jones is dead. I don't know what came over me, but we got into an argument and I shot him in the head. Oh god, It has to be the island. I need to get out. I buried him under a tree. I'm so sorry.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 17, 2/26/38 Those bumps on my forehead have continued to grow. They burst through my skin. It's so painful I can barely keep going.

Mission Log, Captain Johnson: Day 19, 2/28/39 The island has changed me to much. I keep getting strange urges. I don't think I will be able to control it when I get to shore. I only have one choice.

This notebook was found near Captain Johnson's body approximately 400 meters from the the shore. Johnson was mostly transformed and had suffered a lethal bullet wound to the chest. Analysis of the bullet matched those from his own gun. No further expeditions have been authorized.

Post Mission Note: This exploration should not have taken place. We didn't have a good idea of the effects of SCP-XXXX, however that could easily have been remedied with some experimentation. Dr. Moore has been reprimanded for his actions -Dr. █████

Addendum 1: On 10/21/1942 Areal Task Force Echo-3 terminated all organisms on SCP-XXXX via firebombing, for ease of containment.
