SCP XXXX Non-Quixotean Windmills

XXXX-2-A.png

A picture of SCP-XXXX-2-A.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: No more than 1 instance of SCP-XXXX-2-A and 1 instance of SCP-XXXX-2-B are to be contained at Site-███-1 and Site-███-2 respectively at any point in time to minimize containment cost. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 created by either instance of SCP-XXXX-2 and all additional instances of SCP-XXXX-2 must be terminated using explosive charges. In the event of either SCP-XXXX-2 instance becoming mobile Protocol XXXX-alpha must be enacted.
Territories in radius of 3 km around the standard positions of SCP-XXXX-2-A and SCP-XXXX-2-B have been bought by The Foundation and designated as Site-███-1 and Site-███-2. No objects which are at least partially composed of refined wood are to be present at Site-███-1 except for those which are used for Protocol XXXX-alpha and no electronic devices are to be present at Site-███-2 except for those used for Protocol XXXX-alpha. All objects used for Protocol XXXX-alpha must be contained at a distance of at least 3 km from the SCP-XXXX-2 instance.
Both Sites must be surrounded by a metal fence and all civilians attempting to enter the Sites must be dealt with according to Standard Civilian Tresspassing Protocol.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an asexually reproducing species whose adult stage, designated SCP-XXXX-2, is similiar in appearance to a windmill. Additionally, the internal structure of SCP-XXXX-2 instances is identical to that of a windmill, allowing it to be used by humans. These two facts contribute to the hypothesis that the appearance of SCP-XXXX-2 is a form of mimickry utilized for preventing agression from humans.

SCP-XXXX-2 instances do not possess any components which are not found in windmills other than an unusually shaped connector piece between the blades and the main structure, an additional container for storing material and 3 radially placed 5 meter-long hollow tubular structures connected to said container on the bottom side of the body, despite displaying behaviour which would require means of gathering, storing and using information and energy. Two of the tubes at the bottom side of SCP-XXXX-2 are used to consume matter during periods of movement, and one is used for converting the matter collected by the other two to create instances of SCP-XXXX-1. If all the tubes are damaged by at least 45% each, the SCP-XXXX-2 instance will expire. SCP-XXXX-2 can be divided into two groups: SCP-XXXX-2-A, which resemble traditional windmills and consume refined wood ( observations have proved that SCP-XXXX-2-A doesn't consume unrefined wood), and SCP-XXXX-2-B, which resemble wind turbines and consume electronic devices. SCP-XXXX-2 instances do not use the matter collected to power themselves, and seem to derive energy only from wind. SCP-XXXX-2 instances are capable of becoming mobile by turning the aforementioned connector piece upward and rotating their blades, achieving flight. The method by which SCP-XXXX-2 instances fly is anomalous in nature, as they cannot possibly generate enough lift to move their massive bodies. SCP-XXXX-2 instances will only become mobile if an object they are capable of consuming is within a radius of approximately 1.4 km around them. During periods of mobility, SCP-XXXX-2 instances will locate objects which they can consume, move towards them through the air at a height of 46.3 m and speed of 7 km/h, lower their bodies to a height of 5.1 m above the object, and suck them in through the tubular appendages on their bottom side. If the object is too big to fit in the tube, the SCP-XXXX-2 instance will break it into multiple smaller objects by swinging their tubular appendages at the object with high force.

SCP-XXXX-1 is the larval stage of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are pyramid-shaped tripedal creatures, ranging from 7.5 m to 8.3 m in height, which possess 3 simple eyes arranged radially and are composed mainly of non-living matter. Depending on the parent, SCP-XXXX-1 instances consist mainly of either refined wood or metal, ceramics and plastic, and mature either into SCP-XXXX-2-A or SCP-XXXX-2-B. SCP-XXXX-1 instances are created by SCP-XXXX-2 instances when their containers hold at least ███ kg of material. Upon creation, SCP-XXXX-1 instances will try to find a location containing a large amount of material which can be used by an SCP-XXXX-2 instance. When an SCP-XXXX-1 instance finds such a location, it will add a large amount of matter to it's structure and begin it's metamorphosis into an SCP-XXXX-2 instance. This metamorphosis can take anywhere from 7 hours to 6 months depending on the nature of absorbed components. If the legs of SCP-XXXX-1 are destroyed, it will expire.

Addendum XXXX-3: at ██/11/19██, a new variety of SCP-XXXX-2 has been sighted, taking the appearance of wind turbines rather than windmills. This new variety has been designated SCP-XXXX-2-B, while the original SCP-XXXX-2 has been redesignated SCP-XXXX-2-A.

Addendum XXXX-7: at ██/09/20██, due to an outbreak of SCP-████ in the area in which Site-███-2 is stationed, containment of SCP-XXXX has been temporarily impossible. During this time, it is estimated that at least █ instances of SCP-XXXX-1 have been created by SCP-XXXX-2-B. All agents near Site-███-2 are advised to be on lookout for wild instances of SCP-XXXX-1 and SCP-XXXX-2-B.
