Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained within a large, non-specific water-based containment chamber at site 8 at all times. Both staff and guards outside the containment chamber must rotate with replacements on an hourly basis and it is encouraged that dismissed personal are kept mentally stimulated during this time. A diet of live animals is to be provided to SCP-XXXX until dietary needs can be confirmed. All food provided to SCP-XXXX is to be done remotely via the console outside it's containment cell once per day. Under no circumstances outside of regular maintenance is any member of on-site staff to enter the containment cell. Should any personnel attempt to enter the water within SCP-XXXX's containment cell they are to be terminated immediately regardless of clearance level. In particular, researchers working on SCP-XXXX must be under surveillance at all times. In the event of a containment breach, the prepared batch of class-A sedatives must be released into the water of SCP-XXXX's containment cell to prevent it escaping through any unpowered containment measures.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a creature of currently unknown origin, discovered in the lake near site 8 after reports of personnel disappearing near the facility. When submerged in water, SCP-XXXX appears to tremendously reduce the effect of lights ability to penetrate the liquid it is currently submerged in, making it impossible to ever completely see the creature. To date, the most revealing footage was captured by Senior Researcher █████ on a live feed after they managed to enter the water of SCP-XXXX's containment cell during a routine maintenance check before she could be terminated, see enclosed image. Following this breach of protocol it has been discovered that SCP-XXXX communicates telepathically with sentient beings within an approximate range of 200M at varying levels of intensity, it's whispers attempt to seduce the victim into providing knowledge to SCP-XXXX. This knowledge is never specified, however it has been noted that this SCP possesses a great interest in other SCPs and as such may be potentially useful to the SCP Foundation in the future considering it's seemingly vast knowledge which is hinted at through it's attempts at coax personnel into it's containment chamber.

However, it should be noted that it is impossible to return any sort of telepathic communication with SCP-XXXX, encouraging it's victims to actively attempt to meet with itself. Following the event with Senior Researcher █████, all staff working on SCP-XXXX are monitored regularly for signs of attempting to communicate in return with SCP-XXXX as this is considered to be a symptom of a possible future attempt at breaching containment protocols. Should this occur, the member of staff is to be moved to another site to alleviate SCP-XXXX's whispers.

SCP-XXXX refuses to be served prey which has already deceased, during it's initial containment SCP-XXXX encouraged Senior Researcher █████ to provide it a diet of live animals. Since this initial change of diet, SCP-XXXX has not requested any further changes to it's diet. It is unknown why it only eats live prey though some researchers have suggest that perhaps it feeds off the animal's knowledge, consuming it's prey is simply part of the process. Though, this is speculation and like most things related to SCP-XXXX, there is little evidence to back it up.

Several tests have been conducted to determine exactly how SCP-XXXX extracts information from it's victims, however none have been successful due to electronic devices becoming disabled when in the presence of it's bioluminescence. No test subjects have ever returned from an encounter with SCP-XXXX and no trace of their fate has ever been discovered. It is unknown whether or not SCP-XXXX is capable of communicating with other SCPs and as such this must be the highest priority in research involving SCP-XXXX.

Addendum: Following the result of the containment breach at site 8, SCP-XXXX managed to escape it's chamber into nearby ███████ River after it's containment chamber was opened remotely. It is presumed that SCP-XXXX is somewhere in the ████████ Ocean, making it impossible to track or contain currently. While planning takes place for a method of both tracking and capturing SCP-XXXX, a team of researchers is to be assigned to trying to identify it's hunting grounds by calculating the location of wrecked and abandoned ships in the ████████ ocean. Missing persons cases along the coasts may also be taken into consideration for this task. Any reports of opaque water are to be immediately responded to via a containment vessel armed with five liters of class-A sedatives.
