Item #: SCP-2███

Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-2███ is to be contain in an enclosed area, with a minimum 3 meter distance to any structures, with the exception of the floor. No fixtures, and only one entrance should be installed in the cell. Materials used for the cell must be resistant to trauma and heat. For the preservation of instances of SCP-2███-2, full spectrum lights should be installed in the cell. No instances of SCP-2███-2 is to exit the containment cell. Maintenance of the cell should be conducted once every week; if an occurrence of SCP-2███-1 is observed, any personnel within the containment cell are to be evacuated immediately. Operation Eurydice should be carried out immediately, and all D-Class subjects assigned to the operation are to be assembled Operation Eurydice is now aborted; under no circumstances should any terrestrial objects be allowed to make contacts with SCP-2███ [See incident report: Operation Eurydice]. No personal is to enter the cell of SCP-2███ until the occurrence terminates. Integrity examination of the cell is to be carried out as soon as an occurrence of SCP-2███-1 terminates. Any instances emerged as a result of SCP-2███-1 is to be assigned codename SCP-2███-2-X in numeric order. Instances of SCP-2███-2 are to be watered per day, over their exoskeleton, with 100 ml of carbohydrate liquids each. All personnel entering the containment cell are to wear polarized glasses. Personnel inside the cell should not direct hostile actions towards instances of SCP-2███ unless provoked.

Description: SCP-2███ is an aluminum floor lamp of [REDACTED] made. The subject is 1.8 meters height (6 feet 2 inches), with a plastic base 60 cm in diameter. The socket designed to hold an E-17 light bulb shown extensive wear; 60 – 70% of the inner surface is heavily oxidized. Attempt at removing rusts from the socket yield initial success, with the majority or all oxide removed after each session. However, even with the application of antioxidants, the inner surface of the socket rapidly become oxidized after each attempt.

SCP-2███ exhibits spatial anomalous phenomena, hereafter referred to as SCP-2███-1. SCP-2███-1 occurs at seemingly random intervals, the longest time between two adjacent occurrences is ██ years. Each occurrence of SCP-2███-1 consists of three (3) stages. At stage one, SCP-2███ exhibits limited movements, usually in the form of omnidirectional vibrations centered on the subject. The intensity of the movement rapidly increases, until it reaches an undetermined point, at which SCP-2███-1 enters the second stage. At stage two, SCP-2███ suddenly ceases all motions, and become static from that point on regardless its physical coordination. An illumination of relative low intensity can now be observed, whose source is identified to be from the light bulb socket of SCP-2███. Through unknown process the illumination quickly engulfs SCP-2███, its intensity rapidly increases to obscure the physical presence of SCP-2███. After this point, SCP-2███-1 is to be considered in its third stage, one (1) or more instances of SCP-2XXX will begin to emerge from within the illumination, usually from the center of the light. SCP-2███-1 occurrence ceases shortly after all SCP-2███-2 instances have emerged. The length of this process varies between 20 minutes to 2 hours.

Upon fully emerged, SCP-2███-2 instances drop on the floor, and exhibits either exaggerated movement or complete stillness. Instances of SCP-2███-2 appears to have difficulty utilize their appendages upon emerging, and personnel observing these instances shortly after SCP-2███-1 terminates describes them to be “as if they were babies learning to crawl”.

Each instance of SCP-2███ is a roughly spherical object, around 60 cm in circumference, and about 40 cm in height. A crystallized exoskeleton covers its upper hemisphere, with the exception of the “front” portion of the shell, with curves slightly upwards to accommodate for what appears to be the object’s eye. The lower hemisphere of the object appears to soft tissues commonly found in terrestrial animals, and apart from four cylindrical rods, featureless. The aforementioned rods are attached to the “body” of the instances, and appear to function as appendages for locomotion. All instances of SCP-2███ shows very poor motor skills.

Instances ceases all biological activities 3 - 4 days after emerging. Reason of this phenomena is unknown. After multiple autopsies conducted on deceased instances of SCP-2███-2, under the crystallized exoskeletons are tissue containing organisms capable of limited photoheterotrophs. Their exoskeletons are also imperfect, with multiple cracks allows for liquids to be passed onto the tissues underneath. The tissues are capable of absorbing carbohydrate molecules for photoheterotrophic processes. The biological structure of the objects are insufficient: multiple internal organs found in SCP-2███-2 instances appears to serve no purpose, and some central organ are of abnormally small size (even in comparison to the size of the subject.) Despite their abnormal conditions, maximum survival time of SCP-2███-2 instances under proper nurture is so far undetermined.

It is unknown if SCP-2███ instances are sentient. In 19██, at 1910 hours, an occurrence of SCP-2███-1 resulted in the emergence of SCP-2███-2-6, SCP-2███-2-7, and SCP-2███-2-8. All three instances quickly formed a group with the SCP-2███-2-5, which was the only surviving instance of SCP-2███-2 in foundation custody prior to the occurrence. The four instances had been observed to “aid each other, often in the form of flipping over upside-down instances by repeatedly pushing against their trapped comrades on one side”, often continue to do so unless they succeed or a staff eventually come to their aid.

Instances of SCP-2███ appears docile, and are commonly found away from the cell entrance, in groups. However, the SCP-2███ instance with the most time spent with foundation personnel may occasionally approach staffs in the cell, seemingly seeking affection.

1. Dr. ███ speculated SCP-2███-█ emerged shortly before the termination of the SCP-2███-1 concurrence during the event. Dr. ███ believes there is no evidence that SCP-2███ showed any sign of sentience during the event.
