SCP-3004: The Torso
SCP-3100.jpg

Item #: SCP-3004

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Strict security measures have been taken to make sure that SCP-3004 is properly contained. Since staff can contract SCP-3004-1 by catching a glimpse or looking at SCP-3004, heavily-tinted windows have been put in place to greatly weaken the exposure. However, this only increases the exposure time needed to contract SCP-3004-1 and does not stop it entirely. The container has been lined with carbon steel and enveloped in a proton field to keep SCP-3004 at bay.

Description: Sightings of SCP-3004 first happened in ███████, Ireland, when a group of miners found one of the crew members lying on the earth floor, deathly thin as if he had not eaten in months. ███████ █'███, 29, was immediately rushed to the closest hospital. The doctors there said that they've never seen any case like this before, and that ███████ █'███ was lucky enough to even be alive. He appeared to be suffering from anorexic-like symptoms, they said. He was put in Intensive Care, closely monitored by a group of doctors.

When his crew ask him what happened, he replied, "I'm… not sure. The only thing I remember was seeing a human ribcage and spine floating around in the distance. Next thing I know, my stomach was on fire and I felt like I was dying of starvation." Not one member returned to the mine after the incident. Weeks later, ███████ █'███ was discharged from the hospital after being fed enough food to regain a sustainable body weight and nourishment.

Local police said that there was no way someone could walk in someplace healthy and come out rail thin minutes later. They concluded that this incident involved supernatural elements. To keep the public from going into a state of panic, no news article was ever published. The SCP foundation was called in to investigate the mine one day later. SCP-3004 had been contained by Mobile Task Force Beta-7 and miners could finally return to their work.

The question is, how did SCP-3004 manifest? A lot of study and research had gone into effect and staff discovered that SCP-3004 had died of starvation. Another discovery found that SCP-3004 is over 200 years old. Only one question could be asked. Was this a victim of the Great Irish Famine of the mid 1800's? When billions of crops were plagued with a disease commonly known as potato blight? This was the only logical answer.

Behavioral studies have proven that SCP-3004 does not pay any mind to the presence of living beings. However, as stated earlier, those who have seen SCP-3004 clearly were stricken with SCP-3004-1, an illness that, if not treated immediately, can kill the host. Symptoms include sudden weakness, severe stomach pains, rapid anorexic weight loss and light-headedness. All staff must wear protective goggles when making sure the container is not leaking or cracking. Since people can only be affected by SCP-3004 just by looking at it clearly, a large area is not required.

To this day, SCP-3004's goal and purpose is still unknown.

Addendum: Retrieval: SCP-3004 was found and contained on 8/16/20██, No further happenings have occurred in the area it was found at. A team was dispatched to the mine to make sure everything was normal.

Addendum: 10/6/20██

Research on SCP-3004 has been halted until reinstated by administration. All staff are required to wear protective goggles to prevent exposure to SCP-3004-1.
