A device containing SCP-XXXX.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: One (1) instance of SCP-XXXX is to be contained in an isolated containment room at Site-██. SCP-XXXX is installed in a compatible smartphone, stored inside a small, secure vault made of steel, on top of a simple platform of any material. An electronic signal jammer is located outside and near the vault, capable of completely blocking out all frequencies used by modern cellular phones, which includes IEEE 802.11 (WiFi), NFC and IEEE 802.15.1 (Bluetooth). The jammer is to be kept operational at all times.

The device SCP-XXXX is in should never be charged, nor its airplane mode disabled, unless scheduled for testing.

Foundation agents and webcrawlers are assigned to search app repositories and websites for any suspected download links to instances of SCP-XXXX, as well as any knowledge pertaining to it. Such instances are to be immediately removed, and knowledge of them censored. A media blackout will be authorized if deemed necessary.

Instances of SCP-XXXX detected outside containment are to be considered containment breaches. Mobile Task Force Mu-4 "Debuggers" are to be deployed to locate, confiscate and destroy the instances by force, with Class-A amnestics induced to civilians aware of SCP-XXXX. Individuals afflicted by SCP-XXXX (hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-0) are to be put under Foundation surveillance and contained in standard isolated humanoid containment cells. SCP-XXXX-0 are to be put under strict suicide watch. Any request for termination is to be carried out after approval from senior research staff with at least Level 3 clearance. Personnel are to quickly note any new SCP-XXXX instances after a recorded death of an SCP-XXXX-0 instance. Under no circumstances should any personnel engage in conversation with SCP-XXXX-0.

Instances of SCP-XXXX are indistinguishable from other similar, non-anomalous apps. Precise containment is impossible due to the requirement of testing to ensure that the suspected instance is actually SCP-XXXX. Indiscriminate removal of similar apps in the same vein as SCP-XXXX has been authorized. After observation of numerous SCP-XXXX instances, a recognizable pattern has been discovered for detecting anomalous instances. See Addendum XXXX-A for details.

Individuals whose psychological profiles include sexual attraction to male humans are not to be allowed to interact with SCP-XXXX.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a mobile phone game application, currently appearing in containment as a game entitled, “Magical Messenger: Chat & Dating”. It should be noted that SCP-XXXX is capable changing its name and appearance, but its underlying properties are completely identical across instances.

SCP-XXXX is capable of installing itself on phones running either the [REDACTED] or [REDACTED] mobile operating systems. It cannot be removed without completely destroying the device. The operating system treats it as an important system application. Manually deleting its files from the storage media will cause the files to reappear again later. Factory resetting the phone has no effect.

When installed into a compatible device, it entices the user (hereafter referred to as the “Player”) to start playing through:

  • Displaying persistent notifications.
  • Creating an app shortcut icon of itself onto some free space on the user’s home screen, if any. Removing the icon will only make it appear again later.
  • Inserting itself randomly in the list of the phone’s recently opened applications.

Opening SCP-XXXX takes the Player to a splash screen. Afterwards, the Player is instructed to create an account using their [REDACTED] social network account. Attempts to circumvent the system by providing a fake, fabricated, and/or random [REDACTED] account will cause SCP-XXXX to reject it.

After account creation, the Player is sent into a short exposition explaining their role in the game. They are then dropped into an ongoing chat room with five other participants, designated as SCP-XXXX-1 to SCP-XXXX-5.

The chat room plays out in a manner similar to chat rooms in the real world. The Player is allowed to input anything into the chat room and all the other participants will respond accordingly. The other participants are capable of conversing in any known human language, however, they will most likely begin speaking in the Player’s native language or English.

All participants are procedurally generated in terms of names, appearances, and personalities. These are set at the initialization of SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-4, however, takes on an appearance, personality and name that the Player subjectively deems the most attractive.

At random points of the day, SCP-XXXX-1 to SCP-XXXX-5 will message the Player privately to engage them in conversation. SCP-XXXX-4 is noted to be the participant most likely to send the user private messages.

The Player will feel enamored towards SCP-XXXX-4 due to its perceived attractiveness and constant contact. This occurs after a period of approximately two days to two weeks. This may lead to the Player ignoring the other participants altogether. If not, SCP-XXXX-4 performs the following:

  • Attempt to convince the Player that SCP-XXXX-4 is all they need.
  • Deliver flirtatious and romantic gestures.
  • Intercept the conversations between the Player and the other participant, with SCP-XXXX-4 mimicking the other. When discovered, SCP-XXXX-4 will say that the other participant does not need the Player any longer. Questioning this statement leads to SCP-XXXX-4 sending a detailed photograph or video footage of the other participant being killed or committed suicide through various means, such as asphyxiation, exsanguination, and [DATA EXPUNGED]. No contact from the other participant is noted afterwards.

SCP-XXXX-4 is extremely obsessive, possessive and manipulative towards the Player. It learns the daily routines of the Player, and interrogates the Player whenever they stray away from routine. SCP-XXXX knows when the Player is in contact with other entities and attempts to coerce the Player to cease communications.

Continued attempts of the Player to communicate with other entities will cause SCP-XXXX-4 to:

  • Intercept electronic and written messages. Content of messages delivered to Player altered. Messages sent by Player either modified, or fail to reach recipient.
  • Induce auditory hallucinations within the Player to make them hear SCP-XXXX-4’s voice instead during vocal communication. The other party is unaware of this happening, and will often express confusion towards the Player’s answers.

If the Player still fails to cease any and all forms of communication with entities, individuals and creatures other than SCP-XXXX-4, SCP-XXXX-4 will threaten to terminate the other party. Non-compliance results in SCP-XXXX-4 sending an image or a video detailing the other party being killed or destroyed. This extends to the other party in reality: they will be terminated in the same manner as the image or video.

Continued defiance causes extreme traumatic emotional distress for the Player, and they either completely surrender themselves to SCP-XXXX-4 or commit suicide. Attempts of the Player to physically destroy the device will always fail. An external party can destroy the device in question, although, this does not remove the other effects of SCP-XXXX on the Player.

Player death causes SCP-XXXX to send messages to everyone in the Player’s friends list and contacts. These messages include download and installation links to SCP-XXXX. These links are always legitimate and created spontaneously by SCP-XXXX. This occurs regardless of the state of SCP-XXXX's device. If the device is still operational, SCP-XXXX “resets”, returning to its pristine, first-use state.

SCP-XXXX was first discovered when Foundation agents intercepted reports of strange suicides and murders in ████████, ███████, Japan on November 29, 20██. Victims were mutually connected to a certain Y███ ██████, a high-school girl ██ years of age, who committed suicide by slashing her wrists with a kitchen knife. Her phone was found in her left hand, with a private conversation with SCP-XXXX-4 active.
