SCP-xxxx

Object class-Keter

Containment procedures
SCP-xxxx is kept 200m below ground in a sealed chamber made of concrete and [redacted]. All gas that could, in any way, allow for SCP-xxxx's transmission is pumped from the chamber. Surveillance system monitoring SCP-xxxx does not emit sound. Staff conducting experiments involving direct contact with SCP-xxxx must have clearance by vote of the 05 Council and will be overseen by a level four (4) clearance operative or higher. Air will only be allowed to enter the compartment while experimental procedures and maintenance occurs. Any level one (1) personnel or higher must use A-grade hearing protection devices (HPDs). While not mandatory, Dr. [redacted], head scientist of SCP-xxxx, suggests any staff entering the chamber carry suicide pills.

Description
SCP-xxxx, a 2 x 4 meter insect larva made of an extremely durable organic material of unknown origin, seems inert. However, time-lapse video surveillance reveals that SCP-xxxx vibrates and slowly moves around its cell. SCP-xxxx emits a constant high-pitch tone when air is present in the chamber. This tone is difficult for the untrained person to notice unless they have been briefed. Once any subject hears the tone produced by SCP-xxxx, they become a host.

Hosts will continue hearing the tone, however far from SCP-xxxx. Brain scans conducted at this stage show increased neurological activity in the sensory centers of the brain and chemical production of endorphins in the host; shown in subjects as continuous and usually very loud complaints about a noise in the back of their ear as well as grade D status, cameras, and other personnel in the area. This suggests a general upsurge in paranoid behavior. By the end of stage one (1), approximately two (2) hours after contact with SCP-xxxx all hosts have noticed the high pitch tone emitted in the back of their ear.

Stage two (2) begins with hosts hunching downward due to what appears to be a tumor on the upper back. At this stage, hosts will show extremely volatile personality changes. This usually consists of switches from manic happiness to rage. hosts' movements will also become more sporadic and rapid. These movements have been compared to those of rhithrogena germanica, or standard mayfly. This stage will last until subjects enter sleep.

Stage three (3) begins as hosts sleeps. In this stage hosts will go through biological changes including: the rapid growth of the eyes to encompass approximately half of the face, the emergence of four (4) to eight (8) wings from the upper back, and the growth of [redacted] in the respiratory and digestive systems. Other changes that have been known to occur in random cases are antenna, multiple limbs and [redacted]. At the end of this stage, hosts will be known as SCP-xxxx-1. SCp-xxxx-1 have been shown to be extremely hostile and dangerous, using their advanced speed and wing propulsion to surprise their pray and break it's sternum with their now unnaturally overgrown head. After the death of prey, SCP-xxxx-1 will devour its entire body, including bone and hair. SCP-xxxx-1 identifies prey entirely through the sight of movement. When prey is found, SCP-xxxx-1 will release a loud screaming noise while charging forward. SCP-xxxx-1 has shown no evidence of higher brain function and when sighted should be immediately terminated by flamethrowers given to all staff at site [redacted].

Stage three will end when an SCP-xxxx-1 has consumed more then 800kg of organic matter. At this time, stage four (4) begins with SCP-xxxx-1 regurgitating an organic material identical to that surrounding SCP-xxxx. SCP-xxxx-1 will try to build a cocoon around itself with this substance. This stage has only been reached by one host, which staff on hand immediately terminated. Hosts must not be allowed to reach this stage under any circumstances.

SCP-xxxx was first discovered after the sudden break down of a lumber mill Brazil near the town of [REDACTED] . Local authorities also disappeared while investigating the mill along with multiple undercover SCP agents. Typed messages from the agent’s cell phones alerted the foundation of SCP-xxxxs anomalous properties. Task force Eta-10 was able to capture SCP-xxxx with minimal casualties. further exploration into the lumber mill found the bodies of all agents involved in SCP-xxxx's initial discovery dead. deaths were caused by SCP-xxxx-1 or self inflicted bullet wounds.
