SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2, and SCP-XXXX-3 in the wild, shortly before capture.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2, and SCP-XXXX-3 are to be kept separated at all costs. Any captured instances of SCP-XXXX are to be contained in 30 x 30m cells. These cells must be at least 400m away from each other. Any personnel needing to enter a cell for feeding, research, or cleaning purposes must wear a police-grade canine attack suit to protect themselves from being bitten.

Description: SCP-XXXX is the collective designation for an anomalous breed of canine. It's appearance consists of a wolf-like figure, albeit smaller, with a brown and black fur pattern. Three currently exist in Foundation containment, known as SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2, and SCP-XXXX-3, and it has been approximated that close to 200 individuals still reside in the wild. Its only known habitat is regions of █████ ███████ located above the Arctic Circle.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous behavior is triggered when an individual targets a self-aware organism, usually a human being or another sentient anomalous creature, as its next prey. Once a target is decided, the canine will begin stalking it. While stalking, SCP-XXXX inflicts a muffling effect on its prey. The target will be completely deafened, rendering it impossible for it to hear SCP-XXXX's footsteps or approach. The target will never be aware of this effect, despite the complete loss of hearing. It is unknown how this effect is achieved, and a request has been made to allow the termination and dissection of one of the instances of SCP-XXXX in Foundation containment to learn whether this is achieved through telepathy or some other method. Once SCP-XXXX is within 20m of the target, it will rush and attack the target.

SCP-XXXX will leave a single bite on the victim, usually in the upper calf or thigh if the victim is human, and retreat. The immediate effect of this bite includes intense burning pain, but an unusual lack of blood visible in the wound. It is not known yet whether the bite's next effect is caused by either some sort of venom or telepathy. The bitten victim will become amnesic 10 seconds after the bite is delivered, removing all memory of the attack. Bitten victims will then continue about their day, as if nothing happened. When questioned about the bite, affected victims will deny it is there.

Thirty-six hours after the initial bite, the victim will begin undergoing a drastic transformation. The victim will painfully sprout fur, and will morph into the shape of an SCP-XXXX creature, becoming one themselves. The newly created canine will proceed to locate the nearest SCP-XXXX pack and join it. If the newly created SCP-XXXX is prevented from joining a pack, it will expire 5 minutes after transformation. Its corpse will revert back to its original form.

An instance of SCP-XXXX is only capable of delivering these anomalous effects if it is within 300m of another member of the same species. As such, SCP-XXXX-1, SCP-XXXX-2, and SCP-XXXX-3 are not to be kept within 300m of each other in containment unless authorized to do so for experimentation.

There is no known way of reverting a transformed individual back to its original state while keeping it alive. A request has been made to use SCP-500 on one of the canines currently in containment.
