SCP-XXXX as first discovered.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained in a primary 3 m x 3 m room with an observation room equipped with a floor to ceiling, wall to wall observation window on one side of SCP-XXXX’s habitation, for studying convenience. It’s room should otherwise replicate that of a normal house’s living room, equipped with carpeting and wallpaper. The entrance to SCP-XXXX’s containment cell is to be a two door airlock system between its main room and the observation room. SCP-XXXX’s primary habitation room is to be attached to a 1 m x 1 m room with a remotely controlled sliding door dividing the two rooms. This secondary room is to be used as a temporary storage unit for SCP-XXXX while daily maintenance is done in its normal habitation zone.

SCP-XXXX is to be provided with the necessary accommodations and nutrition warranted by a 4 to 6 week old kitten. SCP-XXXX's habitations should be maintained similarly.

SCP-XXXX’s room should be accessed only for experiments and the scheduled maintenance of its accommodations. At its scheduled maintenance times AM, 1:00 PM, and 6:00 PM, SCP-XXXX is to be lured into it’s 1 m x 1 m side room via a laser pointer through the observation window. The sliding door should then be remotely closed, and personnel are then permitted to enter the main room via the airlock system.

Description: SCP-XXXX, through all non-direct visual identification1, appears to be a four to six week old calico kitten, with all normal abilities of kittens at said age. It behaves non anomalously, and has shown repeated interest in interacting with on site researchers and staff, indicating that it has had experience with human beings before its time at the Foundation.

SCP-XXXX’s anomalous nature is only observable upon direct visual contact. Upon entering the room that SCP-XXXX currently resides in, subjects report feelings of unease and revulsion before establishing a visual of SCP-XXXX. Upon establishing a direct visual, subjects report feelings of utter fear, revulsion, and disgust, and refuse to approach or interact with it whatsoever.

If subjects find themselves closer than 2 m to SCP-XXXX, they devolve into hysteria while trying to escape the room. Subjects forced within 1 m of SCP-XXXX experience nausea and may vomit or evacuate their bowels, similarly to victims of near death experiences. Subjects forced to touch SCP-XXXX for any amount of time become unconscious, unresponsive, or may even experience cardiac arrest if they have a history of heart conditions.

Despite repeated attempts, no description of SCP-XXXX can be made through direct visual observation, as subjects seem incapable of commenting on anything besides their own fear and revulsion of it. Due to this, it is assumed that SCP-XXXX’s true form is not what is viewed through video, photograph, or glass. Infrared viewings have been attempted and show the usual body temperature and shape of a kitten. These findings have been unsatisfactory, as all video evidence of SCP-XXXX is assumed to be compromised or otherwise non indicative of its true nature.

To this date, SCP-XXXX has contributed to 2 fatalities among D Class personnel, through means of cardiac arrest in D-47039 and D-60022.

After exiting a room containing SCP-XXXX, subjects are capable of remembering the fear and disgust they felt in its presence. However, subjects are unable to say with any certainty why they reacted this way, or if the SCP looked or acted differently than how they originally observed it.

Experiment Log XXXX-1

Dr. Daley leads SCP-XXXX into its temporary containment room via laser pointer, then enters the main room and places five [5] kittens of a relatively similar age inside, hereby deemed K1, K2, K3, K4, and K5. It is noteworthy that while SCP-XXXX appears as a calico cat, K1-5 used in the experiment have significantly different markings and are easily distinguishable from SCP-XXXX. Dr. Daley then exits and remotely opens the door to SCP-XXXX’s temporary containment room, effectively releasing it to K1-5.

Video and indirect visual notes made by on site researchers show K1-5 exhibiting normal behavior towards SCP-XXXX, including play fighting and wrestling, as well as napping next to and grooming each other. Researchers have found no trace of aggression or fear in the body language of any of K1-5. This may indicate that SCP-XXXX’s ability to induce fear and revulsion is reserved for (or only applicable to) humans and other sapient creatures.

After several hours of non anomalous behavior, the experiment is called off and SCP-XXXX is led back to its temporary containment room via laser pointer (while K1-5 are distracted by multiple other lasers pointers). However, upon retrieval of K1-5, researchers are only able to find K1, K3, K4, and K5.

K2, a brown tabby, despite being clearly present on video footage for the experiment’s duration, leaves the sight of the camera and does not return. Upon investigation, K2 is no longer in the room and appears to have been part of the compromised observations of indirect visual contact with SCP-XXXX for an indefinite amount of time during the testing.

Several theories have been made as to what happened to K2 during the experiment, but none can be proved conclusive as no indirect evidence can be consulted. Whether K2 was eaten by SCP-XXXX or otherwise transported elsewhere cannot be determined.
