Predictable

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX must be kept contained in a 15" (L) x 10" (W) x 7" (H) plasma-sprayed tungsten container and stored in Site-19. The container must be quickly cleaned 2 times a day. Handling of the object requires a specialized handheld thermal-resistant mechanical power-claw.

No more than three(3) personnel are allowed in the chamber. No personnel under Level 2 Clearance are allowed. Any personnel entering the chamber are required to wear a class A class B anti-radiation suit with thermal paddings. No personnel should stay inside the container for more than one(1) hour.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a strong reinforced aluminum lock box with a size approximately 12" (L) x 9" (W) x 6.5" (H), just like any normal standard lock box. Physical appearance of the object is covered with thick mass of dirt and shows heavy signs of corrosion. It has three(3) combination locks each with four(4) digits. The combination on the locks, according to the site's researchers, changes after opening it. It can hold up to 1201 items and seems to ignore its actual physical size. The box appears to have items inside it that can weigh up to fifty(50) to one-hundred(100) kilograms and disappears after being opened, however, there is a two(2) to three(3) second delay in which the items inside SCP-XXXX disappear. Cracking the box is not recommended due to intense heat and high levels of radiation. The accurate age of the object is 8█ years old according to the radiocarbon dating test.

SCP-XXXX seems to produce high levels of radiation and an unidentified gas inside that can cause it or the chamber, if SCP-XXXX is left opened for a short period, to heat up in extremely high temperatures ranging up to ████°C (████°F), melting every metal above its melting point. It is still unknown how the box produces the gas. Any thermal imaging or recording devices presented within the "Broken Range"2 distance to SCP-XXXX's containment chamber will begin to function abnormally, possibly due to the devices' weak resistance in heat.

SCP-XXXX tests should be done3 between four(4) to six(6) PM as the object unlocks within the given time period, and can be opened without the use of any combination, therefore allowing researchers for a thorough examination on SCP-XXXX. Any tests or examinations performed on SCP-XXXX must already be done after thirty(30) minutes flat to prevent possible thermal decomposition and radiation.

Items randomly appearing inside the lock box are yet to be examined and carefully planned, as the items inside, disappear upon opening the box. The items inside seems to be unaffected by the gas emitted by SCP-XXXX.

Addendum-1 █/█/█: Professional researchers hypothesized that the two undetermined elements could be a corrosive, toxic or a combustible one. Dr.H████ conducted a spectroscopy test, which resulted in one of the following:

Addendum-2 █/█/█: SCP-XXXX initial temperature was at 60°(140°F) when it was buried. It seemed to show increase in temperature when it was brought to the Foundation for containment and examination. This could possibly due to a thermal runaway. Exposure of the box to the outside world possibly triggered the runaway. Items were not present during the initial recovery of SCP-XXXX, it somehow triggered a "security" response when it was brought to containment.

Recovery Log: SCP-XXXX was recovered in mid-2007, █,600 feet deep during Dr.H████'s and his speleology team on a caving expedition in █████, North America. The caving expedition was conducted due to a report of a field agent, who was near the area of a small abandoned remote town. The agent reported that the ground was hot to the touch and the water in the town was boiling. This phenomenon must be the cause of the town's abandonment. No volcanic activities were found in the said location. One of the Foundation's scientists, Dr.H████ took an interest in the field agent's report alongside with the Site's expert speleologists.

According to Dr.H████'s team, the mysterious cave's measured depth was █,110 meters deep, a █████ type, and the age seemed to be 11█ years old. Hot temperatures ranging up to 70°C(158°F) were already felt only a several meters upon entering the cave, thermal imaging device used by Dr.H████ failed to function shortly after arriving at 800 meters in depth. Visual contact with the gas was seen below 2,000 meters. Arriving below 3,500 meters proved to be fatal as the temperature was comparable to that of a lava. The origins of SCP-XXXX and why it was buried remains unknown.
