Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a standard SCP-storage case, in a standard SCP-storage room.
Requests for testing regarding SCP-XXXX are to be delivered to assigned Level-3 personnel.

As of incident I-XXXX-a, these containment procedures are to be executed.

SCP-XXXX shall be stored in a lead-based safe measuring exactly 50cm on each side, with a thickness of exactly 5cm. The safe shall be locked with an electronic locking mechanism, and the combination shall be changed to a new 5-number password, randomly determined by a program in Site Director's ██████'s office computer, every morning at 0500 hours. In case of a site power failure, the locking mechanism is to seal itself completely at 0500 hours if it doesn't receive a new password, to be unsealed only when it receives a password at the designated time of day.

All staff of site ███ shall remove all jewelry resembling a ring-shape in any conceivable way before reaching a 500m radius of site ███.

Any testing requested regarding SCP-XXXX is to be submitted to Site Director ██████ at least a week in advance, so that all testing containment procedures can be prepared in time.

All tests regarding SCP-XXXX are to be enacted within the designated testing facility, within a room exactly 5 meters on each side, and any furniture and equipment within the room is to be represented with duplicates symmetrically on both the Y- and X-axis of the room. Any furniture and equipment placed inside the testing facility is to be bolted down, in order to prevent asymmetrical positioning to occur.

Observers and researchers shall be stationed in the control room positioned 5 meters away, and are to only observe through monitors and give commands through the speaker system installed in the testing facility.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a simple silver ring with a single small diamond encrusted on the outer rim of the ring. It has no other details, apart from the letters RNG being etched out in the same position as the gem on the inside of the ring, in letters small enough to be overlooked.

As of Incident I-XXXX-a, SCP-XXXX has taken a different form. It appears to be a plain golden ring, the band of the ring with a 'woven' appearance for a stylised effect. The only other detail about it are the letters RNG etched on the inside of the ring, in letters small enough to be overlooked.

SCP-XXXX constantly emits an as-of-now unknown type of radiation, with a reading of less than 3J of power when observed, without ever having failed in this emission or needed some kind of recharge since discovery and containment █ years ago. This radiation remains at the same strength in a 5m radius from the ring. The cause of, purpose and effect of this radiation is unknown. Extreme care shall be taken by researchers to avoid being affected by SCP-XXXX's radiation, as its effects are unknown.

However, this emission appears to be lessened when kept or stored within parameters containing a multiple or division of 50cm in any way (5cm, 50cm, 500cm), as well as completely suspended when a 5cm plating of lead is positioned as the material for these parameters. Therefore, it is of utmost importance to contain SCP-XXXX within safety parameters of this kind until the purpose or effect of its radiation has been determined.

This radiation remains at the same strength in a 5m radius from the ring. The cause of, purpose and effect of this radiation is currently unknown, but research has shown some evidence that it acts opposite to known radiation, as it seems to draw ambient energy from its surroundings instead of transmitting energy.

There is no reason for concern, as the radiation has no effect on anything in its radius other than the wearer.
