SCP ####'s Dormant State

Item #: SCP-####

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-#### is kept in Storage Sector 23. Following Incident ####-1, a comatose D-Class personnel is to be kept on life support in its cell, with SCP-#### directly next to the bed. This D-Class personnel is to be designated as a dedicated host for SCP-#### during any times SCP-#### is not undergoing testing.

The vital signs of the the D-Class personnel assigned to SCP-#### are to be monitored at all times, ensuring that they are kept alive. If the D-Class personnel assigned to SCP-#### leaves its coma for any reason, SCP-#### is to be assigned a new comatose D-Class personnel within 48 hours.

Description: SCP-#### appears as an emaciated corpse one (1) meter in height assuming a huddled position. SCP-#### is capable of moving its head upon becoming active, but otherwise appears incapable of movement.

Upon being brought within twenty (20) meters of an unconscious sapient creature, SCP-#### becomes active and bonded to the subject. Upon moving to its active state, SCP-####'s head turns to look at the subject with which it has bonded, continuously turning its head to align with the subject's center-mass. This effect persists when SCP-####'s vision is blocked to the subject.

MRI scans of SCP-#### while active have shown brain activity consistent with sensory input and dream state, despite its brain appearing dried and withered while dormant. This, combined with the results of Experiment ####-3, have lead to the conclusion that SCP-#### is aware of its surroundings while active and bonded to a subject. Subsequent testing has also indicated that the only language SCP-#### is able to understand is English.

Moving SCP-#### and its subject more than twenty (20) meters apart will cause the connection to sever. SCP-####'s head will return to the position of its dormant state and all brain activity will immediately cease. SCP-#### is, during this time, unaware of its surroundings (see Experiment Log ####-3).

Subjects bonded to SCP-#### report experiencing mild sleep paralysis and vivid dreams. Attempts to wake the subject are difficult, requiring concentrated effort.

Subjects bonded to SCP-#### report that their dreams often proceed as normal, until emotions reach a peak. At this point, SCP-####-1 will make its presence known. SCP-####-1 is an entity that appears to the subject within the dream. While subject reports have varied in the details, there are a few things that appear to be constant about SCP-####-1's appearance:

► SCP-####-1 appears to be approximately one (1) meter tall.
► SCP-####-1 is always reported to appear male.
► SCP-####-1's face is always reported to be immobile and smiling: “Mask-like”.1

SCP-####-1's appearance appears to vary beyond these three rules from subject to subject, and subsequent sightings of the entity by the same subject report the same shape. Subject reports consistently state that once a high level of emotion is reached, SCP-####-1 will appear to crawl out from empty space and turn its gaze to them, head turning to follow them whenever they move.

SCP-####-1 appears to enhance emotional reactions, as subjects have reported that any feelings they had were amplified to an extreme degree. Subject reports have indicated that SCP-####-1 does not seem malicious, and that it does not leave, even if the strong emotions that summoned it initially subside. The entity appears unable or unwilling to communicate with subjects beyond basic gestures.

When a subject bonded with SCP-#### awakens, they report mild muscle-stiffness and fatigue. These symptoms clear fairly quickly, however, and no side effects appear to persist beyond thirty (30) minutes. Subject reports are also very detailed, reporting a near-perfect memory of everything that happened from the moment SCP-####-1 appeared.
