SCP-whatevs

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is effectively self-containing, as a memetic phenomenon pervades any attempt to document the city by humans outside of Foundation personal. Any traveler immediately forgets the existence of the city upon travelling over one kilometer away, and the relative isolation within the desert makes stumbling across the entity a rare occurrence. Satellite imaging yields no pictures of the entity, instead mapping nonexistent sand dunes in the anomaly’s place. Redundum: In addition to the already present Foundation personal stationed within SCP-XXXX, MTF Zeta-9 (“Mole Rats”) is to be on call per any changes in the anomaly.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a seemingly abandoned city, lying within the █████████ desert. The city covers an area of approximately 3 km2, with walls surrounding all remains of the city, any adjacent land being lost to the desert. The walls vary in height, and at the tallest portions stand at roughly twelve meters high, an architectural achievement at the time considering the shifting sands on which it was built. The city has only one entrance, which serves as the location of Basecamp-Alpha, a Foundation operated on-site monitoring facility.

Within the city are an array of buildings, none of which appear to be anomalous (See Addendum A). Most appear to be dwellings or apartment complexes, with a bazaar and temple district being identified as well.

Notable structures/monuments that have been identified include:

  • - A magnificent temple, towering at approximately 24 meters at in height. The entrance, two iron doors, are locked, preventing entry. (See Addendum A)
  • - A palace, entirely inaccessible to research teams thus far. A smaller set of walls protects the palace, at the front of which is a series of wrought iron gates, an invention not seen until the 19th century CE, barring any attempt at entrance to the palace.
  • - An acropolis, upon which sits what appears to be a gallery of art and literature.
  • - A black obelisk, the meaning of which remains unknown.

Considering the unseen architectural technology of the time, and the memetic aura over the city preventing any historical documentation, the Foundation has dispatched a research team, consisting of six (6) scientists, a surveyor, and three (3) Foundation-trained escorts. To prevent loss of information once the team leaves the premises, a Foundation facility was constructed a kilometer out who documents the team via video and audio surveillance.

The methods by which the entity was discovered is restricted to Level 4 Clearance. Any violation or intentional leak of information will result in immediate arrest and termination.
