SCP-XXXX: True Colors

Item #: SCP-XXXX: True Colors.

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a 5x4x5 meter cell with no more than 2 personnel entering at one time if eye contact has to be made. Only one person should look at SCP-XXXX at a time. Personnel should not maintain visual contact with SCP-XXXX for no longer than 30 seconds to ensure personnel safety. A psychiatrist must be present whenever Foundation Personnel or D-Class enter SCP-XXXX's chamber.

When not being observed or used for testing, SCP-XXXX must be covered with a large white cloth approximately 3 meters (9 feet) in length. A black tile line is to be marked 3 feet away from SCP-XXXX to mark the estimated distance SCP-XXXX-1's can travel. This line is to be rigged with motion sensors so that the Foundation will be alerted if SCP-XXXX-1's cross the line.

Should an SCP-XXXX-1 step beyond the tile line without clearance from Foundation personnel, all other SCPs within 10 meters of SCP-XXXX should be locked in their proper Chambers, and a Strike Force will be sent in with specialized Anti-[REDACTED] equipment to terminate the SCP-XXXX-1 in question.

Description: SCP-XXXX is an old antique mirror approximately 2.4 meters (7 feet) in length, 0.5 meters (1.5 feet) in diameter. The border is similar to Victorian-era style mirrors with a golden color, with many grooves that resemble flower petals and silky cloth. The mirror itself seems to show the sky over ■■■■,■■■■■

When viewed by a sapient entity, an entity resembling the subject appears in the mirror. The entity shown seems to correspond to the subject's "true nature", as SCP-XXXX has previously stated. Exposure lasting ■ hours or more results in hallucinatory visions of the entity shown. The object is also capable of communicating with the subject through telepathy. In addition, there is a 1/ 3 chance that the subject will obsess over the object, eventually worshipping it and wanting to be "accepted" by it.

SCP-XXXX also has a ■ ■% chance to release an anonymous black, humanoid entity, which is believed to be derived from one's [DATA EXPUNGED]. These are labeled as SCP-XXXX-1's. Attempts to extract material from SCP-XXXX-1's have been unsuccessful since they appear to be mostly incorporeal, but it is believed that SCP-XXXX-1's may be composed of [REDACTED], a rare form of dark matter. SCP-XXXX-1's vary widely in shape and nature, as they are based upon the nature of their corresponding subject, and also take on abilities based off of their subject's [DATA EXPUNGED].

When SCP-XXXX shows a subject it's "true nature", only the subject is able to see it. Anyone else that looks at SCP-XXXX while it is occupied will only see that subject's regular reflection, thus proving that SCP-XXXX can only focus on 1 subject at a time. In addition, the chances of an SCP-XXXX-1 are significantly lowered (but not completely) if the subject is not in complete view of SCP-XXXX.

Notes: SCP-XXXX was found in a local museum in ■■■■■■■, after reports of people being attacked by "shadow men" while near SCP-XXXX. The SCP Foundation was quickly contacted and containment was successful.

SCP-XXXX has the demeanor of a young adolescent, around ■ ■ years old. SCP-XXXX acts differently to those it does and doesn't like. To those it likes, SCP-XXXX is friendly, warm, and a loveable friend. To those it despises, SCP-XXXX is cold and harsh, often saying how "disgusting" it finds them. Further research is to be conducted to see how this affects SCP-XXXX-1s, as well as other subjects.

Addendum XXXX-1: Experiment XXXX-A

Experiment Log XXXX-1

Foreword: Dr. [REDACTED] attempts to ascertain how instances of SCP-XXXX-1's are manifested and if/how SCP-XXXX affects the SCP-XXXX-1's behavior, as well as test subjects. D-2703 is a Caucasian female approximately ■ ■ years of age. D-2703 was sent in for this experiment after being promised [DATA EXPUNGED].

Dr. [REDACTED]: D-2703, please enter SCP-XXXX's containment chamber.

*D-2703 enters the contaiment chamber of SCP-XXXX
D-2703: Okay….. now what?

Dr. [REDACTED]: D-2703, please stand where SCP-XXXX cannot reflect you.

D-2703: This is stupid. I get called in to hide from a stupid-

Dr. [REDACTED]: D-2703, follow my instructions or you will be terminated.

*D-2703 sighs before standing near a corner*
D-2703: Okay….. now what?

*SCP-XXXX emits a faint humming sound as D-2703 stares at it, as if she were listening to it*
D-2703: *snickers*

Dr. [REDACTED]: What are you laughing at?

D-2703: This thing can't freaking find me
.
*An instance of SCP-XXXX-1 starts to slowly come out of the mirror, peeking it's head out*
D-2703: HOLY CRAP!

Dr. [REDACTED]: D-2703, remain behind the line.

D-2703: [DATA EXPUNGED]

Dr. [REDACTED]: D-2703, respond!

*The instance of SCP-XXXX-1 emerges, revealing to be a humanoid comprised of many different species of insects, the head resembling that of the parasite [DATA EXPUNGED]. It looks at D-2703 as D-2703 starts to panic and bang on the exit door repeatedly*
D-2703: LET ME OUT!!!!

*D-2703 turns to SCP-XXXX and scowls at it*
D-2703: What do you mean 'This is what I created'?! YOU'RE the one doing this, you sick freak!

*The humming sound from SCP-XXXX begins to slowly grow louder as the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 presses itself against an invisible barrer where the 3 ft line is*
D-2703: WELL, SCREW YOU TOO!
I didn't ask for this: ANY of this!! And yet here I am: What gives YOU the right to torment us like you are now! That…… THING…… Is not me! I left that part of myself behind me, so I don't need you bringing it back into my life!

*The humming sound coming from SCP-XXXX grows even louder as the instance of SCP-XXXX-1 reaches it's arm past the line, which falls off and becomes different small insects that slowly crawl towards D-2703*
D-2703: No….. No! I'm sorry! I'M SORRY!!!

*Dr. [REDACTED] calls in a strike team as the smaller instances of SCP-XXXX-1 corner D-2703 and crawl up to her*
D-2703: I'm sorry for what I did! Please don't kill me: I'll do anything! ANYTHING!!!

*A strike team arrives with anti-[REDACTED] equipment and neutralize all instances of SCP-XXXX-1. A loud dying screech was heard throughout the chamber as the humming from SCP-XXXX ceased*
Dr. [REDACTED]: D-2703, please exit the chamber.
<End Log>

Closing Thoughts: After Experiment XXXX-1, D-2703 was brought in for psychiatric evaluation, which revealed that SCP-XXXX communicated with her via telepathy. Object Class changed to Euclid. Containment Procedures are being reevaluated.

Interview XXXX-1 Log XXXX-1

Foreword: Dr. Glass interviews SCP-XXXX to determine how instances of SCP-XXXX-1's are made.

Glass: Hello, SCP-XXXX.

SCP-XXXX: Hello! You must be Dr. Glass. Heheheh…

Glass: Yes I am. And I can see you find my name amusing. *sighs*

SCP-XXXX: No no! I just find the IRONY of it so amusing.
Anywho, where do we start?

Glass: Well, first of all, tell me about your powers.

SCP-XXXX: Oh! You mean my "gift"! Right….. Um, its tough to explain,
but basically I can look into the █ of people, scavenge through their █ , and based
on what I find, I show them what I think they are. Sometimes, though,
these reflections come to life….. quite literally.

Glass: Hmm… And what does it feel like when you look into their █ ?

SCP-XXXX: Quite odd, really. Like I'm floating in an empty void while being flung at
lightspeed in different directions. A heck of a thrill, but not for the faint of heart.

Glass: Hmm… And how do you show them your images?

SCP-XXXX: Simple. I show it as a reflection to them.
And only they can see it unless I concentrate really hard.

Glass: I see. And why do you show them these images?

SCP-XXXX: Because in all of my days of being….. well, me,
I've seen too many people lose sight of themselves, whether it be through politics,
drugs, or even losing sanity. So I've decided that I should remind them of what they really are.
You understand, right?

Glass: Yes I do: people can get blinded by the simplest things.

So that means you are not really much of a danger, only to those that deserve it.

SCP-XXXX: I'm not the danger: What I make is the danger.
I can only minorly control what they do, and they can only go a
certain distance away from me…… I believe the farthest I've counted was 3 feet.

Glass: Hmm… Well, is there any way of stopping the shadows?

SCP-XXXX: Not if they're really motivated. At least, not that I know of.
You're the experts here: I know next to nothing more than the average
Joe would. They can't go through solid matter, that much I know.

Glass: Hmm… Well nice to know we can contain them.
Do you know where you came from?

SCP-XXXX: Not a clue. Though I have vague memories of places around the world.

Glass: Hm. Well if you want you can tell me something about you.

SCP-XXXX: Um….. There isn't really much to say, sadly.
I don't know who I am, or if I even WAS someone, I've been around the
world and back for some reason, and my freak gift.

SCP-XXXX: Anyways, I think you should get going since
I know that you're probably busy. Feel free to stop by anytime, sir!

Glass: Hmm. Nice meeting you, XXXX, and I will be happy to visit.
<End Log>

Closing Thoughts: SCP-XXXX has disclosed valuable information for containment. Further research is to be conducted.
