Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a storage locker. At least one non-perishable object from SCP-XXXX-1 is to be left inside SCP-XXXX, as this negates its anomalous properties. Objects recovered from SCP-XXXX-1 are to be scanned for anomalies, and distributed accordingly if deemed safe.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a metal shopping cart. SCP-XXXX does not display anomalous properties until it comes into contact with a human subject. The anomalous effects of SCP-XXXX cannot be activated if more than one human is in contact with it. If SCP-XXXX and the human subject are not in direct line of sight of another human, and the above parameters are met, both will disappear. Indirect viewing, such as through cameras, does not seem to affect SCP-XXXX.

The subject and SCP-XXXX are both transported to an unknown location bearing resemblance to the interior of a ███████ brand grocery store (designated SCP-XXXX-1). The store is stocked with all of the items one would expect in such an establishment, excluding store brand or store exclusive items. Labels indicating prices are not present for any items. SCP-XXXX-1's only exit is an automated sliding door located at the front of the store. Viewing through the glass of the sliding door is not possible, presumed to be because of tinted glass. The subject is free to move about SCP-XXXX-1, and can place any items from SCP-XXXX-1 into SCP-XXXX. The subject can place up to 30 items into SCP-XXXX. After 30 items have been placed into SCP-XXXX, an invisible barrier forms on top of SCP-XXXX, preventing further items from being placed inside.

The only entity observed within SCP-XXXX-1 is a Caucasian male human, designated SCP-XXXX-2. Based on their clothing and behavior they appear to act as a clerk/employee of the store. He has been observed to be capable of conversation, but will not speak to or acknowledge the subject until they bring items for checkout. SCP-XXXX-2 has been observed both eating and reading, but has never been observed in excess of 10 meters from Checkout 3. Once the human subject brings SCP-XXXX to Checkout 3, SCP-XXXX-2 will aid the subject in bagging their items. He responds coherently to all questions and comments made by the human subject while he is aiding in checkout. Once all items have been bagged and loaded back into SCP-XXXX, SCP-XXXX-2 will tell the subject to "Have a fantastic day!" and gesture to the front exit. Attempts to communicate with SCP-XXXX-2 after he has said this phrase are ignored.

Once SCP-XXXX is within 2 meters of the store's exit, and a 'purchase' has been made, the sliding doors will open, revealing the point where SCP-XXXX and the human subject disappeared. Once SCP-XXXX and the subject have fully exited the store, the sliding doors will close and SCP-XXXX will become visible again, along with the human subject. These doors have not been observed prior to SCP-XXXX re-appearing, SCP-XXXX simply re-appears where it had previously vanished in all documented incidents.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties are inert until all items are removed from the cart. Once SCP-XXXX is empty, and outside of SCP-XXXX-1, it's teleportation properties can be activated as per usual. No anomalous or abnormal properties have been observed in any items from SCP-XXXX-1.

Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered in Tickfaw, Louisiana outside a ███████ brand grocery store on 12/1/2017. Foundation personnel followed up on reports of teleportation and spontaneous disappearances. This coincided with reports of confusion and a string of shoplifting attempts. Approximately 17 individuals disappeared while inside ███████ over the course of two weeks. Individuals whom had entered SCP-XXXX-1 were issued mild amnestics and SCP-XXXX was recovered without incident.

Exploration Logs A & B:
SCP-XXXX-1 is suspected to be a pocket dimension of some kind by Foundation personnel. Exploration was requested on 1/3/2018 by Dr. Espil.

Addendum 1: Due to the unforeseen nature of SCP-XXXX, and the implication of containment breach on a national scale, all ███████ locations are to be investigated for further instances of SCP-XXXX.
