Item #: SCP-X

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-X is to be stored in SCP containment locker 161 located at Storage Site-14. Removal from Storage Site-14 for testing is not to occur without prior permission from at least two (2) Level-3 personnel. Personnel exposed to the effects of SCP-X are to be administered Class-B amnestics.

Description: SCP-X is a single, plastic 30cm x 60cm x 100cm garbage disposal bin manufactured by L███ Housing Supplies. Due to an incident during Test X-3, there is a 24cm long fracture along the rim of SCP-X. Further investigation into L███ Housing Supplies products and manufacturing has failed to reveal any other anomalous properties within L███ Housing Supplies' line of products.

SCP-X's anomalous traits manifest upon the placement of an object into SCP-X with the intention of disposing of the object. Objects meeting this criteria are designated SCP-X-1. Subjects disposing of items into SCP-X will immediately begin to display acute signs of generalized anxiety disorder. Within 3-6 hours of exposure to SCP-X subjects will express intense feelings of remorse over the disposal of SCP-X-1 and will actively attempt to locate and retrieve SCP-X-1. Failure to retrieve SCP-X-1 will result in increasingly aggressive behavior and violent outbursts. Successful retrieval of SCP-X-1 will immediately calm the subject, but will advance the effects of SCP-X.

Subjects who have managed to successfully retrieve SCP-X-1 display overt signs of obsessive-compulsive disorder, specifically in regard to the status of SCP-X-1. Subjects feel compelled to protect and maintain SCP-X-1 at all costs. Psycho-therapeutic analysis of subjects who have progressed to this stage has revealed the generation of false memories regarding their initial acquisition of SCP-X-1. Subjects often recount memories of having been gifted SCP-X-1 by a loved one or close friend, or of moments in which they attribute their success in a situation wholly to SCP-X-1.
