SCP-3346

Item #: 3346

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3346 is housed in site-06-3 ██████████ wing kept in a 7x7x4 concrete room containing 4 large Ultra Violet lights on the ceiling and 4 UV florescent tubes, one on each of the 4 walls. The room is to be kept at a constant 23 to 24 degrees Celsius. Feeding is to take place once a week by placing the corpse of a recently deceased deer (preferred) in the containment chamber via Sanitary Heated Airlock. Hydration is to be supplied by a humidifier keeping the rooms humidity at 97-100 % constantly

Description: SCP-3346 is a sentient humanoid figure that shows signs of intelligence, is unclothed and estimated to be 1.7 meters tall. Due to its hunched back, it currently stands at approximately 1.2 meters. It seems to have over time fixed its spine into a position where it is angled forward, causing this change in height. This adaptation was presumably made to be more comfortable for the various species of mushrooms growing along its back, shoulders, and head. Almost all of SCP-3346's head is entirely covered in mushrooms. The most common species of Mushrooms found on SCP-3346 so far are Shitake, Enoki, Amanita phalloides, Morel, and Copelandia Cyanescens. One unknown species of fungus grows on the head of SCP-3346 and the properties of this fungus are also unknown. This fungus is classified as SCP-3346-1

Its method of digestion is unknown, but SCP-3346 consumes food through the mouth and is capable of excreting fecal matter. SCP-3346 can commonly be seen spreading fecal matter along its back, shoulders and head in various ways. This fertilizes the mushrooms on its back. SCP-3346 can commonly be seen releasing spores onto dead bodies so that a variety of fungus can thrive upon it after SCP-3346 is finished eating. SCP-3346 seems to be able to survive off of the mushrooms of its back if it is unable to eat anything else, but is unable to sustain itself off this method fro more than a week as it will eventually run out of food. But this seems to be the main purpose of the variety of species that inhabit SCP-3346

SCP-3346 is capable of releasing mushroom spores into the air in any given direction. This is used for basic reproduction as well as self defence. When threatened, both poisonous and hallucinogenic mushroom spores are spread into the air, often killing its targets in less that a minute. It as well has razor sharp claws that can easily rip through human flesh, though it seems unable to move faster than an average walking speed, making it so that injury is easily avoidable. No personnel have yet been able to get close to SCP-3346 without facing permanent injury or in a few cases, death.

SCP-3346's major concerns are surviving and is mostly non-hostile. Though it seems to be distressed at its inability to roam as it can be seen clawing at the walls and door of its cell. Since its first capture it seems to have built a natural resistance to most forms of tranquilizer and dosages, making these sedatives have a limited effectiveness. It also seems to anticipate feeding patterns, displaying erratic behavior and unrest when the scheduled feeding time approaches. and when it is being watched via security camera. (possibly due to the blinking light) It seems to also be aware that it should be in good behavior, as the last time it tried to break the security camera mounted in its cell it was met with a room temperature increase and it hasn't made an attempt since. It can commonly be seen swinging its upper torso left and right repeatedly. This is most likely either distress or a form of entertainment. The only sound heard from SCP-3346 so far has been moans. Again, this could be distress. SCP-3346 has recently expressed new sounds. Nothing formulating words, but instead singular syllables at a time.

History: SCP-3346 was found on █/██/████ in ██████ forest outside █████ cave by two (presumed) hikers who reported their finding to the police. SCP Foundation officials arrived, tranquilized the suspect and contained it temporarily until transported to a SCP facility. In the cave near the location SCP-3346 was discovered were dead bodies of deer, wolves, humans, and bears all covered in a variety of fungus. The cave has a constant downward slope that was presumably made artificially by mud. The cave has yet to be explored by SCP Foundation officials. The original finders of SCP-3346 were given Class D Amnestics and the event is in no public record.

Addendum 3346-1: Two Class D personnel were sent into SCP-3346's cell to test its behavior around humans, and possibly test fro a defense mechanism. SCP-3346 quickly released spores into the air and the Class D personnel inhaled them. After showing symptoms of major alterations in perception caused by psilocybin mushrooms they showed no sign of living and were presumed dead. SCP-3346 denied the bodies as a food source but instead turned their bodies over face down. Approximately 13 hours later spores began growing on both Class D personnel's backs and both personnel began breathing. Dr.███ presumed this as reproduction and increased the rooms temperature to 90 degrees Fahrenheit until the spores on the Class D personnel appeared dead. But this did not kill SCP-3346 as the exposure time was apparently not enough to kill it. SCP-3346 then used the Class D personnel as a food source, eating the corpse whole just as it did with the deer.

Addendum 3346-2: Dr.███ has requested to send one (1) class D personnel into SCP-3346's cell to collect samples of SCP-3346-1. The request was accepted and a Class D personnel was sent in with a hazmat suit (to protect from spore reproduction) an oxygen tank and a tranquilizer pistol. The class D personnel was successful in shooting a dart at SCP-3346, but this did not phase SCP-3346. The Class D personnel was attacked and used for a food source. SCP-3346 seems to have adapted to tranquilizing chemicals.

Incident 3346-1: Dr.███ requested to use one (1) pill of SCP-500 on SCP-3346 as he believed the mushrooms growing on SCP-3346 was caused by SCP-3346-1 in spore form attaching to a humans brain via inhalation. This request is still pending. This request has been denied, as this would probably neutralize SCP-3346 This request was recently accepted due to SCP-3346 attempting a breach and since all attempts to analyze SCP-3346's biological makeup were unsuccessful. The personnel in charge of feeding SCP-3346 were instructed to cut open the carcass of a deer and put 1 singular pill of SCP-500 inside. SCP-3346 ate the carcass, but managed to separate the pill from the carcass and SCP-3346 now keeps SCP-500 in its possession. Dr.███ is planning to get the pill back somehow, but we've yet to find a solution with no drawbacks on SCP-3346.

Failure to create successful test results has lead to 2 new agents being assigned to SCP-3346. Awaiting further disclosure.
