Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be watched over by Agent ██████. Agent ██████ is not to leave the premises of SCP-XXXX but it is unlikely that they would be able to do so anyway. Personnel aware of the existence of SCP-XXXX needn't fear an encounter with SCP-XXXX as the conditions for such an encounter are far too specific to be met by happenstance.
Description: SCP-XXXX was discovered accidentally by Agent ██████ while on a leisurely sailing expedition off the coast of ████████, Massachusetts. Before arriving at SCP-XXXX, Agent ██████ claims to have sailed into a dense fog bank. After maneuvering a full turn in the opposite direction of the fog bank they sailed back out to find themselves sailing toward SCP-XXXX.
SCP-XXXX takes the form of a sizable island located in an open part of an unknown ocean. SCP-XXXX sits at a low elevation and is home to a variety of tropical vegetation but hosts no forms of non-humanoid fauna to speak of. SCP-XXXX is populated entirely by children ranging from the ages of five to seventeen.
The children on SCP-XXXX were noted as being rather surprised to see Agent ██████ as they claimed that very few adults had every arrived at the island. When asked about any other adults the children had encountered the older members of the community explained that most adults are outsiders that only show a passing interest in the children before walking towards the center of the island. When asked what was at the center of the island the older members of the community simply replied with "The Box of Exile".
The "Box of Exile" hereon refereed to as SCP-XXXX-1, is a plain, windowless, concrete bunker that seems to have taken very little wear and tear from the environment on SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX-1 has no visible light sources on the inside and it has been noted that to stare directly into the entrance fills the observer with a sense of dread and paranoia. The anomalous effects of observing the entrance of SCP-XXXX-1 are lifted upon breaking eye contact with the entrance. SCP-XXXX-1 has never been explored by the children on the island, however, they claim that every five years a new adult of varying race and gender has been seen arriving on the shore, walking to SCP-XXXX-1, and entering the building without hesitation or any visible signs of fear. These adults allegedly do not appear to be in a trance of any sort.
The children living on SCP-XXXX seem to have developed a culture unique to themselves, complete with maturity rituals, literature, holidays, music, and board games, all unique to their "tribe" as they call themselves. What is most interesting about the children of SCP-XXXX is that they hold very little in common in terms of age, gender, or race, but they all seem to have their own stories of a bad home life. Every child claims to have desired to run away from home and was drawn to the ocean in some way. As such, most children on the island describe that they were either on vacation at the time of their departure from their families or they simply lived in a coastal town. Each story ends with them either swimming out to sea or sometimes stealing a boat.
When one tries to leave SCP-XXXX they are able to travel just far enough for the island to sink below the horizon before the island appears right above the horizon directly in front of them. There is no known way to escape SCP-XXXX.
The children on SCP-XXXX have been able to survive so well for so long do to a series of pipes throughout the island that produce food, drinks, and entertainment of any sort desired by the children of the island. The pipes run underground and emerge at specific points and curve over so as to face the ground. The diameter of a pipe's mouth measures to about 1.5 meters, or 5 feet. To receive an item, a person must only whisper what they want into a pipe's mouth and within a minute it will be dropped out from the mouth of the pipe. Interestingly, there are certain items that only adults are able receive from the pipes. Items that cannot be produced by the pipes when requested by children are all types of weapons, alcoholic beverages, drugs of any kind, and small vehicles. Agent ██████, however, was able to request a bottle of ███████ whisky, a handgun, and a cell phone. This cell phone is what they used to contact the foundation. It is not known how a cell signal is maintained on SCP-XXXX nor why it appears to be so strong.
Interestingly, when one looks into the pipes, the exact same sense of dread that can be felt when looking into the entrance of SCP-XXXX-1 manifests in the observer. It is with this observation that Agent ██████ believes the structures are linked.
Finally, the children on SCP-XXXX seem to have developed a unique maturity ritual in which, upon the eighteenth birthday of a member of the tribe, the children force that member into entering SCP-XXXX-1 against their will. This ritual has become so ingrained into the tribe that it is simply not questioned by the other members. When entering SCP-XXXX-1, the eighteen year old child begins to panic and plead for their exemption from the ritual. This process takes several hours before finally the pressure from the tribe forces them to step inside.
Upon entering SCP-XXXX-1, the child is likely to face a sense of overwhelming paranoia and dread, so much so that their speech may become slurred in panic. They may also experience diarrhea and other signs of gastric distress. This effect will be made fun of by the tribe until the will of the child entering SCP-XXXX-1 is broken and they walk into the building without hesitation. The child never returns after this point.
The Foundation has given many orders to Agent ██████ to enter SCP-XXXX-1 but no amount of force can convince them to enter. Agent ██████ has become accepted among the children despite their age and continues to report major events on the island.
