Item #: SCP-###

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-### is to be kept in a lock box, partially filled with non-translucent suspension foam, guarded by no less than three security officers. SCP-### must be placed partially submerged within the foam solution in order to visually conceal the bit portion. Under no circumstance is the bit to be exposed without permission of Class-B personnel.

Any personnel exposed to SCP-### via skin contact, or gazing upon the bit end must be immediately quarantined and monitored, taking on the classification of SCP-###-x, where 'x' is their assigned number. Any mention by these personnel of a 'box' or the name Jaben must be documented. No personnel below Class-B status is permitted to converse with these subjects. For safety reasons, you should also refrain from speaking to an SCP-###-x if you suffer insecurities, family problems, past or present, or any other sensitive or exploitable anxiety.

Description: SCP-### appears to be a gold plated key, formatted with an intricate head, designed to looked both mechanical and organic. A simplified carving of a fox head rests at the center of the bow-crest, the shaft stemming from its mouth. The shaft itself is segmented, constructed of various interlinking parts, and [DATA EXPUNGED].

SCP-###'s discovery came during Class-D personnel intake on ██/██/████ when, while in line for physical inspection, ████ █████, to be hereby labeled SCP-###-A, attempted to flee the facility. SCP-###-A was capable of anticipating the aimed shots of the security guards on duty, and navigating the facility without prior knowledge, and was only captured utilizing weight-based security barriers, leaving SCP-###-A without an escape route. Upon physical examination of a scar on SCP-###-A's leg, a metal key (SCP-###) was discovered and removed. Later testing of SCP-###-A's physical and intellectual ability revealed that the removal of SCP-### returned him to a manageable state. Questioning SCP-###-A about the key yielded no results, and he later committed suicide in his cell at ██:██ on ██/██/████.

Initial examination of SCP-### was carried out by Researcher Manuel █████████. [referred to as SCP-###-B in Addendum A] Dr. █████████'s initial statements on SCP-### were that he found it well preserved for its perceived age and "quite beautiful." Breaking traditional protocol, Dr. █████████ made physical contact with SCP-###, and after retaining this contact noted that SCP-### seemed to exhibit no immediate danger to its bearer. Since the breach of protocol, Dr.

Emily ██ has been assigned to assist and monitor Dr. █████████'s behavior.
For full testing records of SCP-### please read Testing Log: ###-01-10 and Testing Log: ###-11-14. Results from all tests carried out by Class D personnel in high security environments show that contact with SCP-### grants the bearer increased physiokinetic and psychokinetic ability, being able not only to predict the physical intentions and trajectories of other people and objects, but deduce the previous actions of a subject they have just met, accurate up to 24 hours.

Addendum A: Reports from Dr. ██, (detailed below), make note of Dr. █████████'s increased infatuation with SCP-###. In light if these reports, Dr. █████████ has been decommissioned and labeled SCP-###-B under Class-E status. During his apprehension, he spoke briefly of a "box" and the need to open it. In addition to arresting SCP-###-B, all Class-D personnel previously involved in the testing of SCP-### have been terminated.

A-A Revision01: Because of frequent bragging and rumor-spreading by various security personnel, it needs to be noted that SCP-###-B was not in possession of SCP-### during his arrest, and no form of "body slam" was needed nor executed during the course of the event.

Addendum B: After the suspension of initial testing, both Dr. ██ and SCP-###-B have been subjected to psychological testing on ██/██/████. The former has been recommissioned, and is currently assigned to division ██-█, SCP-###-B is currently under observation. No contact with SCP-### is permitted. Based on the behavior of SCP-###-B, it can be deduced that the subject does not have to maintain direct contact to be influenced by SCP-###. Since his containment, SCP-###-B has taken on a secretive, and soft spoken personality, dissimilar to his usually open demeanor. Dr. ██ suggests that since making contact with SCP-###, SCP-###-B has been 'mimicking' his previous self, to appear unaffected. The implications suggest that SCP-###-B was responsible for incident I-###14, disabling the door system mid-test.

Addendum C: On ██/██/████ a record was submitted by Junior Professor Richie ██████ detailing the psychological state and physical activities of SCP-###-B. (See Below)

Testing Log: ###-01-10

  • 01: Class-D subject ###01 was given the opportunity to make skin contact with SCP-###, while being shot at to test the subject's ability to both perceive intention of the guard and react. The subject attempted to pry SCP-### from its secure position, while avoiding harm. After a few minutes, the subject stopped evading, resulting it his death. When the fatal shot was administered, it's important to note that the subject was making contact with the key.
  • 02-05: Further testing was applied on four more Class-D personnel in hopes to find variances in reaction based on race, gender, and physical ability. All tests resulted in lethargy of the subject, followed immediately by fatal gunshots. It is possible that SCP-### has been drained of its effect.
  • 06-08: After review of the previous tests, it was recommended to seek out a subject who showed notable discomfort in the notion of being shot. The idea was that a more motivated subject might react as the first had. Orders were given not to execute subject ###06, even if he struggled during escort to the testing chamber. Once inside the subject was forced at gunpoint to make contact with SCP-###. Subject did so with fearful enthusiasm. Once touching SCP-### subject ###06 immediately lost all desire to flee, or evade the immediate fire, resulting in death. A similar test was run two more times with the same results. It is important to note that before death, subject ###08 spoke the phrase "Do you understand yet?"
  • 09: The next test, in order to glean more information about the meaning behind ###08's words, the test did not involve firearms. Dr. ██, overseeing the current tests was present. A transcript was recorded of the resulting exchange.

Interviewed: SCP-###-B
Interviewer: Dr. Emily ██
<Begin Log, ██:██>
Dr. ██: Do you feel any different?
###09: No guns this time. You want to know?
<NOTE: The subject was not made aware of any previous tests.>
Dr. ██: Who are you? Am I speaking to SCP-###?
###09: I have a name.
Dr. ██: Tell me that name.
###09 *Responds only with a smile.*
Dr. ██: In the first test, you, or the subject contacting you, was adamant to escape injury. Since that first test, there has been no attempt to evade. Why?
###09: I do not like being bolted down.
Dr. ██: And you would cooperate if you were released from your fastenings?
###09 *Refuses to answer, and removes his hand from SCP-###.*
<End Log, ██:██

By authority of Dr. █████████, Class-D subject ###09 was not terminated at the end of testing, but instead returned to his cell for observation, despite disobedience when ordered to make contact with the key again.

  • 10: The next test involved two subjects at once, both making contact with SCP-###. The vocal questioning has since been removed from file, as it contained questionable information, about ███████. Upon questioning, it was deduced that both subjects responded to questioning in sync with each other, while maintaining contact with SCP-###, as if possessed by it.

Testing Log: ###-11-14

  • 11: It was suggested by Dr. █████████ that he carry out remaining tests, in hopes to further acquire knowledge about the physical attributes gained via contact. Unlike Class-D personnel, who made contact with SCP-###, Dr. █████████ suffered no possessive effect in any way similar to that seen in the previous tests. During reactive trials, overseen by Dr. ██, Dr. █████████ displayed both a mental and physical increase in reaction and coordination. It is important to note that the enhancements did not allow the doctor to perform feats above his own physical limit, but instead increased his efficiency within said boundary, utilizing cognitive anticipation, along with skillful reaction to dodge and maneuver based on responding to actions in effect, and predicting actions which would require a quicker response. When asked about his mental state, he claimed to feel "Amazing, and in control." He stated his desire for Dr. ██ to experience the effects of SCP-### first hand, a request that was promptly denied.
  • 12-13: By the insistence of Dr. ██, her partner was excluded from participating in the remaining tests, allowed only when she agreed to allow Dr. █████████ to question all subjects after testing. The next two tests involved, allowing subject ###12, and ###13 to hold SCP-### without the use of a restraint to fixate either in place. Instead, the room was emptied of all but SCP-### and the subject, and sealed, negating the possibility of escape. Subject ###12 performed five acrobatic flips, before resting. She then proceeded to tell Dr. █████████, who was watching from behind a two way mirror, what he had for breakfast that morning, while there was nothing relevant or shocking about the information, it was impossible for the subject to have acquired it. During the second test of the same type, ###13 proceeded to do the exact same five flips, and exposition of Dr. █████████'s breakfast. It is important to note that ###13 was chosen because of his IQ of 63. Before testing, it was ordered that the security guard shoot him in the leg.
  • 14: [I-##14]During experiment fourteen, the chamber door deactivated mid-test, allowing subject ###14 to escape the immediate holding, with SCP-### in its possession. After killing a security guard, ###14 armed itself, and attempted to escape the facility. While loose subject-###14 was responsible for the deaths of ██ security guards. No additional injuries were recorded. Subject ###14 was incapacitated when trapped by an electrical array, before willfully jumping into it, resulting in their death. During investigation of the incident, Dr.█████████ noted that it could have been the result of a system glitch. Dr. ██ made no initial comment, but was quick to submit a full report of all tests, along with her personal observations of Dr.█████████.

Evaluation 27A Submitted by Professor Richie ██████ - ██/██/████ to ██/██/████:

██/██/████: SCP-###-B Has requested to make contact with SCP-###. Request was denied.

██/██/████: SCP-### Requests magazines from his room for reading purposes. Request was granted.

██/██/████: At ██:██ PM guard complained that SCP-###-B "Insulted [his] father, and put his manhood into question." Guard has since been reassigned, and placed into supportive therapy.

██/██/████: Once more, a guard was reassigned, prompted by "Superstitious panic." Guards have since been warned not to converse with SCP-###-B.

██/██/████: During a routine cell inspection, SCP-###-B was caught slipping an unknown item onto the person of security officer █████ ███. The item was found to be a replica of the lower half of SCP-###, constructed of magazine and [DATA EXPUNGED]. While the replica seems to have no possessive value, question as to what SCP-###-B's intention was in releasing it from the cell warrants inquiry. In comparing the bit end of SCP-### with the replica, a 99% similarity was found. The replica has since been disposed of.

██/██/████: Questioning of SCP-###-B begins about the attempt to smuggle a replica of SCP-### out of his cell. SCP-###-B requested to be referred to by the name "Jaben". During conversation SCP-###-B stated that it was for a friend. When told that all other personnel who made contact with the key had been terminated, SCP-###-B grinned and made no further comment.

Information about a possible SCP-###-C occupying the facility has been sent to a select few. All notified personnel are to keep aware of suspicious behavior or changes of demeanor.

██/██/████: Further questioning of SCP-###-B attempted. SCP-###-B's mention of a "box" was brought to attention. "The key would not exist were it's purpose not to open Jaben." SCP-###-B was then asked if 'Jaben' was the Box or the key. Assuming the response was truthful, it is the box, or something within the box. Other questions were asked, such as the location of the box, and whether or not any other key could open the box, such as SCP-005. The resulting answers were mixed, and worded in a manner presumably meant to confuse and evade the intent of the question.

██/██/████: A database sweep of all current box-like SCP's took place, finding over ██ initial possible matches. In the end, no SCP seemed to correspond.

██/██/████: A replica bit of SCP-### was discovered in the Level-B break room, under the possession of security officer ████ █████. The replica was comprised of wood, and claimed to be self constructed by officer █████ who claims he did not know of SCP-### or SCP-###-B and had simply felt like whittling. Security footage shows he had been to the cell of SCP-###-B though no visual confirmation could be made of anything being passed from SCP-###-B to the guard. Officer █████ has since been placed under observation.

██/██/████: Questioning of SCP-###-B begins about the exchange between him and officer █████. SCP-###-B stated there was no exchange, but showed a level of excitement, asking "The bit is beautiful, is it not? The crest is intricate, yes, but the bit… hypnotic!"

It is the opinion of Professor Richie ██████ that the majority of SCP-###-B's statements are false, and meant to mislead and spread paranoia. Despite these statements, visual representations of SCP-###'s bit have been censored for security purposes, and is to be regarded as cognitohazardous. Further testing to validate or discount the claim behind this decision is scheduled to start on ██/██/████.

Questions on whether a replica can be used to open the Box have been asked with no clear answer.

A request, submitted by Dr. ██ on ██/██/████ to destroy SCP-### has been submitted. The submission was met with negativity by Professor ██████ as well as █ others, under the premise that the box, if the true source of manipulation, might only be located with the use of SCP-###.

██████ requests an opportunity to find a safe method by which SCP-### can be either harnessed or studied as a means of discovering the location of a potentially more dangerous SCP.
