Mount Zloyrog seen from below.

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid Keter

Special Containment Procedures: The 10x10 kilometre radius along the base of the mountain, referred to as Section-2, is to be lined with secure chain link fence, repaired and surveyed at least once per week, and manned by no fewer than 50 fifty Foundation guards who are to be stationed at regular tower intervals.

Further up the mountain, the area referred to as Section-1, which spans 3.5x3.5 kilometres, must be equipped with similar security measures, though with a total increased to that of 80 personnel. Any unauthorised individuals attempting to gain access to either Section-2 or Section-1 are to be immediately executed, regardless of whether or not they are counted among foundation personnel. All non-foundation air traffic is to be redirected.

Should SCP-XXXX begin to display any anomalous properties, an area-wide alarm should be triggered and preparations for evacuation or immediate combat made. Research staff should also be notified. Furthermore, should SCP-XXXX begin producing a low, booming sound comparable to that of a brass instrument, all personnel of Section-1, regardless of position, are to evacuate to Section-2 until the event concludes.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a dimensional rift situated above Mount Zloyrog in K███████, ███████, Russia. Upon receiving word of anomalous entities within the region (later confirmed to be products of SCP-XXXX) as well as mysterious chromatic phenomena, the Foundation was called in to investigate on █/██/████ by the Russian Government.

Following the discovery of SCP-XXXX-2, the efforts of the Foundation in the area were ceased, believing they had discovered the source of the anomalies. Later, following initial reports of SCP-XXXX-3 as well as the discovery of SCP-XXXX itself, the Foundation returned and established a permanent presence within the area. K███████ was evacuated and its citizens memories retrofitted. Following this, K███████ was converted into a forward base for operations on the mountain.

SCP-XXXX in an active state, seen from the base of Mount Zloyrog.

SCP-XXXX itself is a gateway, located in Earth’s lower atmosphere. On most occasions, SCP-XXXX is not visible and displays no anomalous properties (referred to as 'inactivity'), however numerous recorded incidents have shown SCP-XXXX to periodically ‘open’. When this occurs, immediate gravitational disruptions can be observed, as lighter objects (those beneath 0.5lb) will begin to rise towards SCP-XXXX. SCP-XXXX also produces large amounts of light, such that direct eye contact may cause permanent damage.

Typically, SCP-XXXX’s anomalous properties conclude here, however on multiple occasions entities of varying description and aggression have emerged from SCP-XXXX. Some of these entities are sentient, highly intelligent, defy the known laws of physics and are capable of performing extreme psychic phenomena.

  • SCP-XXXX-2 (Emergence Date Unknown, Discovered ██/██/████): A large gastropod-like creature, measured to be 10.4 metres in length and 3.2 metres in height, has a pale green colouration. The pores on SCP-XXXX’s body excrete a mildly-toxic mucus, which has been found to cause inflammation and irritation. At the front of SCP-XXXX-2’s body is an orifice capable of extending anywhere from 0.5 centimeters to 3.1 metres. SCP-XXXX-2 uses this orifice to swallow its prey, which range from small birds to humans and larger animals. SCP-XXXX-2 was discovered by Foundation agents during their initial examination of the area. Following the deaths of 3 personnel, SCP-XXXX-2 was captured and placed in a secure facility. Examinations of the sedated creature revealed the liquidated remains of Foundation personnel, as well as other missing individuals and animals, within its hollow body. Despite the organs of liquidated individuals having been completely destroyed, signs of unusual brain activity were detected within the remaining mass. SCP-XXXX-2 was found to have no identifiable organs.
  • SCP-XXXX-3 (Emergence Date ██/██/████): A luminescent worm, measured to be 5.1 metres in length and 30 cm in height, emits a white-blue glow. SCP-XXXX-3 has no corporeal form, despite its inability to pass through solid objects. SCP-XXXX's method of movement consists of 'swimming' through the air in a manner similar to that of an eel. Behaviourally, SCP-XXXX-3 seems curious regarding its environment, even following Foundation personnel around, making containment a relatively simple process. Personnel describe an understanding of SCP-XXXX-3’s emotions, despite its lack of audible communication. However, prolonged exposure to SXP-XXXX-3 has caused numerous cases of insanity, thought to originate from its telepathic abilities, with many claiming to have ‘seen into the unseeable’ and bore witness to 'that which presides over all'.
  • SCP-XXXX-4 (Emergence Date █/██/████): A lizard-like creature, measured to be 2.5 metres in height, has black coloured scales. SCP-XXXX-4 is an intelligent entity which is able to communicate, however the frequency of its speech has been found to be damaging to the cerebral cortex. This is believed to be linked to SCP-XXXX-4’s psychic capabilities which allow to manipulate the environment in unusual ways. It has a head similar to that of a human, though with an approximate total of 23 exoskeletal limbs growing from within its mouth. See Addendum-XXXX-a.
  • SCP-XXXX-5 (Emergence Date ~9000 BC, Discovered ██/██/████): Believed to be similar to a crustacean, exact size currently unknown, Foundation research personnel are still attempting to discern appearance. SCP-XXXX-5 is the fossilised remains of an entity unlike any found on Earth, with current theories and carbon dating suggesting that it emerged from SCP-XXXX some 11,000 years ago. SCP-XXXX-5 was discovered in a riverbed running through Section-2 and is now stored within Site-66.
  • SCP-XXXX-6 (Emergence Date ██/██/████): A mysterious, intelligent, humanoid entity, 3.3 metres in height, has grey skin. SCP-XXXX-6 is a highly unusual being, having several limbs, six of which are used as arms (with coiling insect-like tarsus in the place of hands), and five sets of wings resembling those from the order Lepidoptera. SCP-XXXX-6’s head is dominated by a large orifice that appears to extend further back than the width of SCP-XXXX-6’s head would allow. SCP-XXXX-6 is completely sexless, and has instruments resembling flutes fused to three of its hands, with a fourth hand fused to a transparent orb. See Addendum-XXXX-c.
  • SCP-XXXX-7 (Emergence Date █/██/████): [DATA EXPUNGED]

Addendum-XXXX-a: Incident-XXXX-1
On █/██/████, SCP-XXXX began displaying anomalous behaviour and, within one hour, the entity known as SCP-XXXX-4 had emerged from the rift. Dr. Martin, accompanied by a squad of ten Foundation agents, intercepted SCP-XXXX-4 at the near the peak of the mountain and began recording the incident. Irrelevant and sensitive information has been omitted.

Upon arrival of a backup squadron, SCP-XXXX-4 was unable to be located. Autopsies of the bodies of Dr. Martin and his guards suggest they died of critical cranial trauma and internal bleeding.

Addendum-XXXX-b: Following Incident-XXXX-1, Dr. Keen has been assigned as the head of research and investigation for the project. His request to reclassify SCP-XXXX as a Keter has been accepted by the O5 Council.

Addendum-XXXX-c: Incident-XXXX-2
On █/██/████, following a prolonged period of inactivity, SCP-XXXX began displaying anomalous behaviour leading to the emergence of SCP-XXXX-6. Upon arrival, SCP-XXXX-6’s instruments began to play as it proceeded down the mountain, eventually coming into contact with the perimeter of Sector-1. Upon approach by Foundation agents, it extended a black tendril (1.5 metres long) from its head orifice which it promptly used to lacerate nearby personnel. Following the deaths of thirteen individuals, SCP-XXXX-6 was successfully subdued and sent to containment.

Addendum-XXXX-d: Incident-XXXX-3
Within one ████ of Incident-XXXX-2, a second display of anomalous properties from SCP-XXXX began. Unlike previous instances of activity, SCP-XXXX’s reopening was accompanied by low, booming sounds described as ‘thunderous’ by Section-2 personnel. At the beginning of the event, Dr. ██ (who was filling in temporarily for Dr. Keen) began recording. Irrelevant and sensitive information has been omitted.

After Section-2 received no communications from Section-1 during the event, a squadron was sent up to investigate. They discovered all facilities within Section-1 completely abandoned, all personnel seeming to have moved up the mountain. At the peak, the naked bodies of Section-1’s entire staff were discovered, lying in a circle around the epicentre of the now-dormant SCP-XXXX. Autopsies performed on the bodies discovered that their heels had been damaged, with injuries similar to those potentially incurred by repeated dancing. The eyes of each body had been removed, most likely a self-inflicted injury, as evidenced by the bloodstains on the fingers. Furthermore, their brains had been completely destroyed by a searing heat which was also found to have heavily scarred their faces.

Addendum-XXXX-e: Interview-XXXX-1
Following Incident-XXXX-3, and evidence of SCP-XXXX-6’s ability to comprehend and speak english, Dr. Keen requested to interview SCP-XXXX-6 regarding the events of the ███ prior.
