Item #: SCP-YYYY

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-YYYY is to be held in Evidence Locker 51 in Site-17 when not undergoing testing. Testing with SCP-YYYY must only be performed by doctors who have been trained on how to counteract the effects of Harrison-Lokhorst Spontaneous Memetic Macrohazards (Null-Engram, or any equivalent merit) on individuals who have been clearly informed of the potential hazards of testing and have explicitly given their consent. When testing, it is forbidden to set the frequency to 126, anything higher than 5000, or any negative values.

Following testing, SCP-YYYY is to be promptly removed from its host. Armed operatives are to supervise SCP-YYYY-a during testing, and, if it exhibits any aggressive behavior, should euthanize the instance, taking care not to damage SCP-YYYY.

It has been proven that SCP-YYYY retains standard functionality; therefore, in theory, should an instance of SCP-YYYY-a breach containment, SCP-YYYY's auto-destructive capabilities would both enable termination of SCP-YYYY-a and prevent any further instances generating. This is to be used only as a last resort.

Description: SCP-YYYY is a heavily modified standard issue 3rd iteration SCRAMBLE implant, previously in the possession of Michelle Klempner, the former leader of MTF Eta-10 ("See No Evil"). While investigating a localized spatio-temporal manifestation, Klempner was caught inside its radius of effect, and was separated from the rest of her team. After approximately two hours, her corpse was discovered within the Site-17 morgue, bearing SCP-YYYY.

Any individual who is fitted with SCP-YYYY will experience periods of totally synchronous anomalous neuronal activity in their brains, resulting in near-instant death, unless they possess one of a number of mental or genetic disorders. These include, but are not limited to: severe autism, Alzheimer's disease, schizophrenia, depression, and bipolar disorder. Subjects with one or more of these conditions are able to wear SCP-YYYY without instantly perishing, though the longest recorded time a patient has been able to wear it without severe neural damage is 14 minutes.

SCP-YYYY shares several functions with an unmodified SCRAMBLE implant, most notably that it is still able to passively filter out memetic hazards (see testing logs). Instead of the device possessing an 'active' state, in which all text is censored such that all potential threats are filtered out, SCP-YYYY may be set to a variety of frequencies. A complete list of all responsive frequencies can be found below.

SCP-YYYY-a refers to the the human who is currently wearing SCP-YYYY. Instances of SCP-YYYY-a have a minor increase in strength and endurance, though they are still able to be overpowered by trained operatives.
