Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: A small cassette tape with a recording of SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a locked containment unit. Any other devices with SCP-XXXX recorded on it are to be incinerated.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a thirty-two (32) second-long loop of music created by an unknown composer. The song does not fit in with any known genre of music and doesn't follow any known scale. SCP-XXXX automatically loops back to the beginning upon ending, even on devices that should be incapable of this.

When played at a volume of 10 dB or louder, SCP-XXXX induces a number of symptoms on human subjects. These symptoms gradually set in over time and are consistent between tests. Stopping SCP-XXXX or muffling the device playing ceases all effects.

One minute: Slight nausea, inability to stand up.
Five-seven minutes: Subjects hallucinate small, black tendrils manifesting in their peripheral vision, which vanish if viewed directly.
Ten-fifteen minutes: Subjects begin to imagine tendrils originating from their body. In some cases these tendrils are reported to attempt strangling the subject.

At thirty minutes, subjects invariably enter an extremely panicked state where they attempt to destroy the object playing SCP-XXXX, becoming incapable of focusing on anything besides its cessation. If the subject successfully listens to SCP-XXXX for one hour, all devices playing it instantly shut down, followed by a disembodied baritone voice telling the subject [REDACTED]. Subjects who have completed this event become incapable of hearing SCP-XXXX at any volume afterwards, though no other permanent effects have been observed.

Subjects who have heard SCP-XXXX for one hour tend to congregate and engage in lengthy discussions about it, even if neither subject has been told the other accomplished this as well. These conversations are held in an unknown language, thus rendering them indecipherable. When interviewed about the language and discussions, subjects universally claim to be unaware of changes in their own behavior.
