SCP-4000-A at the onset of a SCARLET MOON event on ██/██/2010.

Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP-XXXX is currently being maintained between the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition under Joint-Operation Silent Hymn, with liaisons from the Vatican Holy Office for Secrets and Prophecies acting in an advisory role. SCP-XXXX-A is to be fenced off and restricted to civilians under the cover of unexploded World War II ordnance, and the only known access point to SCP-XXXX-B is to be monitored by automatic surveillance equipment for signs of impending SCARLET MOON events.

All personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX in a combat role are to be practicing members of any of the three main Abrahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), with the specific sect within these three branches being irrelevant. Personnel are to be trained in counter-demonic warfare. Due to the effects that SCP-XXXX-A and B have on the human psyche, personnel must score no lower than the upper 10th percentile in tests involving emotional control.

Should a SCARLET MOON event appear to be imminent, MTF Omega-5 "Hell's Wardens" is to be activated and joined by GOC Strike Team 1989 "Last Crusade" in securing the access point into SCP-XXXX-B. Non-essential personnel are to be evacuated to Site-78 and will remain there for the duration of the event. Humans exiting SCP-XXXX-B are to be immediately detained and sent to Site-78. Non-human entities are to be terminated using all available force, up to and including the use of nuclear assets if deemed necessary. Any assets within SCP-XXXX-B upon completion of the event are to be considered lost.

Any rediscovered text written prior to 1151 AD is to be located and examined by Foundation agents. Should the text contain any reference to SCP-XXXX-B, it is to be taken to Site-78 for further analysis and replaced with an altered copy removing any mention of SCP-XXXX-B. Any individuals who have had access to the text outside of Foundation, GOC, or Vatican personnel prior to acquisition are to be administered Class-B amnestics.

Description: SCP XXXX is the collective designation given to two distinct anomalies, referred to as SCP-XXXX-A and B, affecting ████████████ Forest, located in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. SCP-XXXX-A, which comprises the forest itself, is both the most prominent and the least dangerous of the two anomalies, and is known to alternate between periods of activity and dormancy.

In it's "active" state, animals in the surrounding area will be compelled to enter SCP-XXXX-A. Animals selected by this compulsion effect are always household pets or other types of domesticated animals, while wild animals in and around SCP-XXXX-A are unaffected. Upon entering the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A, compelled animals will disappear the moment they are no longer being observed. Anywhere from 5 hours to 1 week after a disappearance, the remains of the animal will reappear at a random location within SCP-XXXX-A. Injuries sustained by the animals are always extreme and inconsistent with normal predation, and it is not uncommon for the remains to be strewn across a large area. Due to the unpredictable timing of such compulsion events and the small number of affected animals, it has been difficult to determine the exact range of the phenomenon, but it appears to be no more than █km from the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A.

Outside of SCARLET MOON events, SCP-XXXX-A poses no known physical danger to humans. However, subjects who enter SCP-XXXX-A may develop feelings of apprehension and paranoia, with varying degrees of intensity. Though unpleasant, these feelings typically do not interfere with a subject's normal behavior, and they may continue deeper into SCP-XXXX-A or leave its boundaries should they choose. In very rare cases, however, subjects may become so overwhelmed with fear that they will attempt to escape the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A as fast as they are able. Subjects affected this way typically must be restrained, and they will resist any attempt to bring them back into SCP-XXXX-A, even if threatened with lethal force. Regardless of emotional response, all subjects claimed to have experienced acute feelings of scopaesthesia1 while within the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A, even when no other individuals were present.

SCP-XXXX-B is the city of ████████████, once one of the most populous and influential cities in the Holy Roman Empire before its ejection from baseline reality on 11/05/1151. Due to the efforts of the Catholic Church, almost all records relating to the city of ████████████ have been destroyed or altered in a concentrated effort spanning several centuries. As a result, little information regarding SCP-XXXX-B has survived outside of the few texts that have been preserved in the Vatican Library. SCP-XXXX-B is normally contained in its own dimension cut off from baseline reality, but it is known to partially manifest in our reality during SCARLET MOON events.

Twelve hours before manifestation, at exactly 12 PM local time, the interior of SCP-XXXX-A will undergo significant changes. A thick fog will manifest, drastically reducing visibility, and the ambient temperature will steadily raise or drop (Depending on the current temperature), stabilizing at 4°C. It should be noted that these changes only occur within the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A; meteorological conditions in the surrounding area will remain unchanged. In the event that the local conditions are already similar to those that manifest before a SCARLET MOON event2, personnel can determine it's true nature by attempting to disperse the fog within SCP-XXXX-A. Natural fog will disperse as normal, while the anomalous fog will be immune to all attempts at dispersal and remain omnipresent.
