SCP-XXXX just prior to a SCARLET MOON event on ██/██/2010

Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: Containment of SCP-XXXX is currently being maintained by a joint effort between the SCP Foundation and the Global Occult Coalition, with liaisons from the Vatican Holy Office for Secrets and Prophecy acting in an advisory role. All personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX in a combat role are to be practicing Christians of any denomination. SCP-XXXX-A is to be fenced off and restricted to civilians under the cover of unexploded WWII ordnance, and all known access points to SCP-XXXX-B are to be monitored by automatic surveillance equipment for signs of impending SCARLET MOON events.

Should a SCARLET MOON event appear to be imminent, MTF Omega-5 "Night Watch" is to be activated and joined by comparable GOC military assets in securing all access points into SCP-XXXX-B. Humans exiting SCP-XXXX-B are to be immediately detained and sent to Site-78. Non-human entities are to be terminated using all available force, up to and including the use of nuclear assets. Any assets within SCP-XXXX-B upon completion of the event are to be considered lost.

Description: SCP XXXX is the collective designation given to two distinct anomalies, referred to as SCP-XXXX-A and B, affecting ████████████ Forest, located in the state of Lower Saxony, Germany. SCP-XXXX-A, which comprises the forest itself, is both the most prominent and the least dangerous of the two anomalies, and is known to alternate between periods of activity and dormancy. In it's "active" state, anywhere from █ to ██ animals are compelled to enter SCP-XXXX-A. Animals selected by this compulsion effect are always household pets or other types of domesticated animals, while wild animals in and around SCP-XXXX-A are unaffected. Upon entering the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A, compelled animals will disappear the moment they are no longer being observed. Anywhere from 5 hours to 1 week after a disappearance, the remains of the animal will reappear at a random location within SCP-XXXX-A. Injuries sustained by the animals are always extreme and inconsistent with normal predation, and it is not uncommon for the remains to be strewn across a large area. Due to the unpredictable timing of such compulsion events and the small number of affected animals, it has been difficult to determine the exact range of the phenomenon, but it appears to be no more than █km from the boundaries of SCP-XXXX-A.

Outside of SCARLET MOON events, SCP-XXXX-A poses no known danger to humans. However, many individuals who enter SCP-XXXX-A typically develop feelings of paranoia and fear, with varying degrees of intensity. Such feelings are often accompanied by an acute sense of "being watched".

Information regarding SCP-XXXX-B and SCARLET MOON events is restricted to personnel with level 4/XXXX clearance or higher.
