Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is kept at site 13. During the day (6:30 AM to 9:30 PM), SCP-XXXX is allowed to freely roam the site, as long as it is accompanied by at least one (1) staff member at all times. Staff member's accompanying SCP-XXXX should let SCP-XXXX go as it chooses, and should not influence it's path.
At night (9:30 PM to 6:30 AM), SCP-XXXX should be contained in a 3x3x3 m padded room, as not to risk rupturing SCP-XXXX's foil surface. A 7 centimeter thick sheet of lead should be placed behind the walls to counteract static. SCP-XXXX's room should be kept at 21°C at all times. A security camera should be placed in one corner of the room, and should be checked every 30 minutes by any available night staff to assure SCP-XXXX's safety.
SCP-XXXX should be reinflated every two (2) weeks (or when otherwise requested) to maintain the capacity of .014m³ (this will not affect SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties, as various tests has shown that the properties are contained within the metallic material itself).
Description: SCP-XXXX is an 46cm (34cm x 34cm) round balloon. The surface of SCP-XXXX is yellow, with a generic smiling face on one side. SCP-XXXX has shown many similarities to a smiling yellow balloon produced by ████████. Because of this, SCP-XXXX is believed to be created by ████████. The fact that SCP-XXXX is exactly alike to the mass produced balloon (aside from it's anomalous properties) has lead us to assume that SCP-XXXX is simply a defect, most likely tampered with by outside forces during the manufacturing process. The metal SCP-XXXX is comprised of has been identified as Mylar.
SCP-XXXX is apparently sentient, and has demonstrated the ability to use the five (5) basic senses. In previous tests, SCP-XXXX has reacted to many different stimuli, including:
- Needles
- Steel poles of extreme temperatures (150°C and -45°C)
- Music of varying genres (requested by Dir. Spicoh)
- Sudden loud noise
- Extreme bright, and dark
- Different colors
SCP-XXXX was first reported by a Ms. ███████ on ██/██/2012. She had originally purchased SCP-XXXX from her local retail store with the intent of using it as a decoration for her son's birthday. Ms. ███████ first noticed SCP-XXXX acting strangely while several of the children at the party attempted to pop SCP-XXXX. Ms. ███████ reported that SCP-XXXX "floated around the room, like it was avoiding the kids. I knew it wasn't the wind, since all of the windows and doors were shut.". Upon report, a member of staff was dispatched to retrieve SCP-XXXX, as well as reimburse Ms. ███████.
SCP-XXXX is capable of moving anywhere it chooses on the XYZ axis when fully inflated, as well as being able to tilt itself to any angle it chooses. At half inflation, SCP-XXXX has shown signs of what appears to be a form of fatigue. SCP-XXXX has expressed discomfort when not entirely inflated.
SCP-XXXX has shown signs of being playful and friendly in nature, as well as having preferences and opinions on different things. SCP-XXXX has learned 27 words in the English language, including:
- Come
- Go
- Stay
- Up
- Down
- Good
- Bad
- Left
- Right
SCP-XXXX has developed a basic means of communication. Learning this "language" is now a requirement for all staff members at site 13.
