Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is currently kept in a Faraday cage at site 16 which is subject to inspections twice weekly. During inspection, the cage should not be disabled and all electronic equipment must authorized by a senior staff member of level 4 clearance or higher.

Description: SCP-XXXX is a small WI-FI modem manufactured by HUAWEI as model HB4F1. SCP-XXXX can not be turned off and constantly emits a short range WI-FI signal of an approximate ten(10) meter radius in any direction, which is detected by devices under the name of 'pocketwifi-6876'.

SCP-XXXX's anomalous properties become manifest when a device capable of wireless connectivity enters it's signal range. Any such devices will automatically connect with the SCP-XXXX's signal regardless of wireless connectivity setting. The device will be incapable ceasing connection once exposed to SCP-XXXX's signal, even if the device leaves its signal area. Such devices are classified as instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

Devices classified as SCP-XXXX-1 no longer shows dependency on battery power and will operate at an mildly increased performance rate for the first six hours of connection. During this time it has been noted that SCP-XXXX's signal grants internet connection of approximately 1.5 MB per second download and .5MB upload. The new instance of SCP-XXXX-1 will also begin transmitting SCP-XXXX's signal on a ten(10) meter radius around itself, creating the risk of a chain reaction to other devices.

Proceeding six hours since first connection, SCP-XXXX-1 will become unresponsive to any user input and will begin to perform seemingly random actions1 displayed on the device's screen. While in this state, the device will not dim, shut off its display or perform any user input actions for the next two(2) hours. In this state, SCP-XXXX-1's signal broadcast range will slowly increase from ten(10) meters to twenty(20) meters, and it becomes increasingly resistant to the containment effects of a Faraday cage.

After eight hours since connection SCP-XXXX-1 will appear to completely cease functionality and will begin emitting SCP-XXXX's WI-FI signal around itself on a, now increased, twenty meter radius. It has been noted that the only reliable method of interrupting SCP-XXXX-1 from broadcasting it's signal at this stage is to completely destroy the device. Devices that are taken apart show that each component broadcasts SCP-XXXX's WI-Fi signal individually. It is not yet know how components normally incapable of wireless transmission are able to broadcast this signal, this has proven to be true for all electronic components with the exception of ███████ brand of power supplies.

SCP-XXXX’s signal is proven vulnerable to basic signal disruptions such as that of a Faraday cage, which decreases SCP-XXXX's broadcast range from twenty(20) meters to two(2) meters. It is, however, important to note that disrupting SCP-XXXX’s signal shows no sign of affecting any existing instances of SCP-XXXX-1 which will continue to broadcast the signal. So far there is no known method to disrupt or otherwise interfere with a signal originating from an SCP-XXXX-1 instance, therefore such instances must be terminated at the end of each test session.

SCP-XXXX was acquired by the foundation on 03/12/20██ and to this date (07/02/2015) it has shown no signs that would indicate its battery will ever deplete. [I'm going to add more information on the origin eventually.]

Addendum 1: [will be adding some tests conducted on this SCP]
