Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained inside a reinforced plexiglass airtight container at least 1x1x1 meters large. The inside temperature of the container must be kept at -5C or lower. All instances of SCP-XXXX-1 should be immediately frozen and have their piece of SCP-XXXX removed from the brain stem. This piece should then be placed next to SCP-XXXX in its container.

In the event of a containment breach all personnel helping with re containment will be required to wear an air tight suit with breathing equipment. The room containing SCP-XXXX should be sealed shut and have a coolant released into the room. Once in liquid state SCP-XXXX should be re contained in a airtight container and returned back to subzero temperatures.

Description: SCP-XXXX can be in three different states, depending on temperature. It can be either a gas, liquid, or solid.

In gas form SCP-XXXX is a fine red mist. When tested this gas is determined to be comprised of 50% air and 50% of an unknown chemical. This gas occupies an area of approximately 1 cubic meter. A quantified amount of gas could not be found due to SCP-XXXX's volatility in this state. Gas form is reached when SCP-XXXX reaches a temperature of 100C or higher. When left alone SCP-XXXX will reach this temperature by itself unless cooled below 10C, when it will return to liquid state. In gas form SCP-XXXX may move through anything permeable by air, including through vents and under doors. It floats at speeds up to 6.5kph. In gas form SCP-XXXX may create instances of SCP-XXXX-1 by absorbing through the skin. SCP-XXXX will search aggressively for all living creatures that contain blood. When a subject is found it will immediately attempt to enter the subject.

In liquid form SCP-XXXX is light red with splotches of black. The volume of liquid is 574L. When tested this liquid is determined to be comprised of 50% water and 50% of an unknown chemical. Liquid form is reached when SCP-XXXX's temperature drops below 100C which can occur when outside temperatures drop below 10C. If cooled below 0C SCP-XXXX will revert to solid state. In liquid form SCP-XXXX may move through anything permeable by water. It may flow across the ground at speeds up to 3kph. The liquid creates instances of SCP-XXXX-1 when subjects ingest it through the oral and nasal passages. SCP-XXXX will search for living creatures containing blood. It will do so in a slow and predictable way. When a subject is found it will flow up the body of the subject and attempt to enter them.

In solid form SCP-XXXX appears to be a stone roughly in the shape of a sphere with a diameter of 60cm. It weighs 1,123kg and is primarily black in color, but with splotches of red and blue. It is comprised of 50% stone and 50% of an unknown chemical. This state is reached when SCP-XXXX is cooled below 0C. When in solid state SCP-XXXX is incapable of movement and creating instances of SCP-XXXX-1.

Instances of SCP-XXXX-1 occur when a tendril of gas or liquid enters the subject's body. SCP-XXXX will then drain the subject of blood and increase its mass by 4-6%. It will leave a piece of itself in the brain stem of the subject, where it will then begin to control the subject. SCP-XXX-1s will act according to the temperature. Higher temperatures will result in aggression, while lower temperatures will result in slow movements and eventually a complete stop, where the piece of SCP-XXXX can be retrieved from the brain stem.

SCP-XXXX was discovered when an Arctic expedition was reported missing. The crew of 12 was found frozen and drained of blood behind SCP-XXXX. They were 110m away from the crew's ship.

Experiment XXXX 1

Protocol: SCP-XXXX was placed in a hydraulic press in solid state, then allowed back into liquid state, then refrozen.

Results: SCP-XXXX shattered when pressure was applied. SCP-XXXX melted into liquid form before reforming whole again.
