Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures: Mannequins, dolls, statues, and other human-shaped simulacra or parts thereof may not be brought into the room containing SCP-XXXX except under experimental conditions. Inorganic humanoid SCPs are not permitted within 80 meters of the building without Level 3 authorization.

Under experimental conditions the room must be cleared, except by personnel placing or removing experimental material. During transport into and out of the room containing SCP-XXXX, experimental material must be securely bound with nylon rope with a minimum tensile strength of 680 kg. A removable stage measuring 6.0m x 6.0m, constructed from two layers of 2.5 cm-thick transparent plastic and supported by aluminum legs, must be secured over the gap in the floor. Experimental material should be unbound and placed as nearly as possible in the center of the plastic stage (marked with an 'X'). The window and surveillance monitors from the adjacent room may be utilized for observation.

One conductive energy device (TASER or equivalent) must be kept in a three-digit code-locked case in the room adjacent to SCP-XXXX, set to 5-5-6. Personnel are required to learn the code upon arrival on site.

Description: SCP-XXXX describes a collection of symbols from an unidentified magical or religious tradition, arranged in a radial pattern with a 1.7 m radius and set in the earth below the floor of the southwest room of the building at ████████████ in █████████████, ██. They are composed of glass with a 97% silica content and extend between 2.5 cm and 4.25 cm into the soil. An approximately rectangular 5.5m x 5.5m area of the center of the floor has been removed by Foundation personnel, exposing SCP-XXXX.

Human-shaped simulacra in the presence of SCP-XXXX may be targeted by an anomalous event that transmutes the subject into a living organic analog of its shape: an aggressively expansive, self-catalyzing matter replacement effect manifests inside the subject; it then spreads erratically through the subject volume, substituting original material for organic tissue based on a symbolic and spatial reference to an implied archetype of human anatomy. The resulting tissue is hereafter referred to as SCP-XXXX-1.

Organs and other structures that would be expected to be present in SCP-XXXX-1, such as skin, muscle, bone and blood, are replicated during transmutation. Though these structures are often replicated with a high degree of accuracy, experimentation usually produces partial specimens with a detrimental impact similar to mechanical damage. Experimentation to determine optimal conditions for the process is ongoing (see Addendum A). Interim tests have yielded incomplete portions of living bodies, often coherent structures such as arms, legs and heads, that have lived for a maximum of eight seconds before succumbing to insufficiency of life-sustaining systems. Experimentation has not yet succeeded in transmuting a complete human simulacrum into a living human. Dead tissue undergoes rigor mortis and decomposition as expected.

Addendum A, Test Log:

Date: 08/09/2011
Subject: Woman's articulated mannequin, solid plastic with metal fittings.
Observations: SCP-XXXX-1 began growing inside the subject's left arm.

  • 2:10: The upper half of the left arm has been transmuted into SCP-XXXX-1, but the effect has failed to move across the shoulder joint.
  • 3:00: The arm spasms. SCP-XXXX-1 falls apart from the plastic torso and hand. The ulna suffers a hairline fracture in the fall.

Analysis: Transmutation is unable to traverse gaps.

Date: 08/10/2011
Subject: Head and torso from previous test mannequin. Remaining limbs and joint structures removed.
Observations: SCP-XXXX-1 began growing inside the subject's chin.

  • 0.20: Face fully formed but inert. Eyes closed.
  • 2:28: Eyes open, unfocused.
  • 10:09: Front of chest formed. SCP-XXXX-1 gasps and chokes. Eyes focus but track erratically, focusing alternately on the observation window and a corner of the plastic stage.
  • 16:01: Almost all original material replaced. The eyes shut tightly and SCP-XXXX-1 screams a syllable three times: "LUH".
  • 16:19: Convulses and dies.

Analysis: Systems are capable of a high degree of interoperability even in an incomplete transmutation.

Date: 08/16/2011
Subject: Miniature statuette of a girl, porcelain, donated from an agent's personal collection, 22.5 cm tall.

  • 0:20: SCP-XXXX-1 bursts outward, expanding into an undulating, spherical mass of tissue with approximately 1000% more volume than the subject.
  • 0:40-0:52: Three primitive articulated limbs sprout from SCP-XXXX-1.
  • 1:20: Two of the limbs display muscular contractions sufficient to slide SCP-XXXX-1 around the floor as if by swimming. It continues to do so for the remainder of the experiment.
  • 1:46: A sphincter-like orifice opens in SCP-XXXX-1, followed by a persistent soft keening sound.
  • 2:20: Keening sound becomes a loud screech, audible from observation room without electronic amplification.
  • 3:10: SCP-XXXX-1 has approximately doubled in volume since 0:20. It appears to die, but twitches with post-mortem muscular spasms for the next twenty minutes.

Analysis: Accurate replication of human anatomy may require the subject to be of a similar volume as its organic referent.

Date: 09/04/2011
Subject: Life-size statue of a woman, bronze, requisitioned from Storage D at Site 22.
Observations: SCP-XXXX-1 manifested inside the subject's torso. It progressed in an unusually symmetrical pattern throughout the experiment.

  • 2:00: Tissue is visible at the surface of the abdomen and on each shoulder.
  • 18:01: Body below the neck is fully formed.
  • 21:00: Head is fully formed. Eyes open and focus. SCP-XXXX-1 appears to be a healthy woman of 18-22 years of age. It supports its own weight and is breathing normally.
  • 21:23: SCP-XXXX-1 looks over the room, pausing at the observation window. Eye contact is made with Agent ███████, Agent Sorensen, and Doctor McLaren.
  • 21:40: Eye contact returns to Agent ███████. It says, "love you. Serve you", and smiles.
  • 21:50: SCP-XXXX-1 collapses into disassociated semi-liquid matter.

Analysis: Pending; please contact Doctor McLaren.

Addendum B, Discovery:

On 07/15/2010, the █████████████ Police Department was notified of a mannequin bearing a woman’s severed head on display in the window of █████████████ Designs, located on the current site of SCP-XXXX. Agent Milton interested himself in the case when, hours into their investigation, police were surprised by the discovery of a bleeding torso lying in a secured area of the shop.

Milton researched the site and found records of a previous tenant, Mr. L. Smythe, who had been executed in June 1952 after a number of human heads were discovered hidden in his hat shop. Mr. Smythe professed innocence until his death, that he'd found the heads and had been too frightened to report it. Another tenant, Mrs. G. Hafferman, was involved in an investigation three decade earlier into the death of a maimed, disabled transient found in her dress shop. Milton invoked Procedure 16 and the site was seized by the Foundation.
