Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-3506 is to be kept at Site-19 using standard operating procedures for containing Safe-class book-manuscript-type SCPs (see Document 241-05-3H), and are to be contained together on a bookshelf in the on-site library and are not to be removed unless it's for testing purposes.

Description: SCP-3506 is a collection of three book portraying the three different parts of Dante Alighieri’s ‘divine comedy’ designated SCP-3506-1 ‘Inferno’, SCP-3506-2 ‘Purgatorio’, and SCP-3506-3 ‘Paradiso’. When a person reads an instance of SCP-3506, they will show signs of being affected by what they are reading, see document-3506-a for more details. Subjects also show emotions that would be considered normal if what they are perceiving is to be true such as anxiety for SCP-3506-1 when crossing the river Styx, fear for SCP-3506-2 when the reach the second terrace of purgatory where people's eyes are sewn shut, and awe with SCP-3506-3 when they reach the 8th heaven.

Discovery: The foundation became aware of SCP-3506 when a student at ██████████ ██████ university in ████████, Connecticut’s apartment complex was burnt to the ground by a fire that was started by unknown means. Her body was charred and unrecognizable and SCP-3950-1 was found next to her body appearing brand new despite being engulfed by the fire only a day ago. SCP-3506-3 was discovered shortly afterwards after a student at the same university had gone blind after reading SCP-3506-3 for an assignment and, in a later interview said that “It was the Brightest thing I’ve ever seen!”. In the same interview, he stated that he was on Canto XXX before he couldn't see anymore. SCP-3506-2 was acquired at the same university after the decomposing body of a student at the university was found with SCP-3506-2 in his hand while lying face down. A later autopsy showed that he had died of dehydration, despite a glass of water being found only two meters away from the body. The book was opened on Canto XIX where the souls are forced to lie face down and are unable to move.

Addendum: Request to switch the number classifications of SCP-3506-2 ‘Paradiso’ and SCP-3506-3 ‘Purgatorio’ to “Order them correctly” approved by O5-██. Notes: Why did this need my approval, why couldn’t it just be switched after we found Purgatorio? -O5-██.

Addendum-3506-ab: Two D-class personnel were assigned to read SCP-3506-1 and SCP-3506-3. The D-class assigned to read SCP-3506-1 was shown to be much more anxious than normal when reading SCP-3506-1 and when coming to Canto X he spontaneously combusted and died shortly afterwards due to severe burns. The other D-class, assigned to SCP-3506-3, was blinded and was observed to shout things such as “I HAVE SEEN THE FACE OF GOD I AM NOT WORTHY” and ████████████████████████. The D-class was terminated after attempting to escape the facility. All further tests involving SCP-3506 are required to have O5 approval to commence.
