Item #: SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe Euclid
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a secured soundproof storage room with at least 1 guard on duty at all times. In addition, live security cameras and sound recorders are to monitor SCP-XXXX for any activity at all times. It is also vital that any children under the age of 13 must be kept off site and away from the object at all times. If SCP-XXXX is found to have breached containment, a search of any nearby schools and residences with small children within a 10 mile radius is authorised. To minimise this risk, SCP-XXXX should be kept away from urban areas at all times.
Description: SCP- XXXX resembles a wheeled toy telephone produced by the Fisher Price company as part of its Chatter series produced in the 1960s, and appears similar to other toys of its brand and make.
SCP-XXXXs anomalous properties become apparent when a child under the age of thirteen who has lost a close family member is exposed to it. The object then emits a sound similar to the ring tone of a normal telephone. It should be noted that normal Chatter telephones are unable to do this. If the child is permitted to answer then the speaker will claim to be the close dead relative of the child and converse with them. This conversation when uninterrupted typically takes 20-25 minutes, with the speaker often claiming to be ‘out of time’.
SCP-XXXX was recovered from the ████████ Orphanage in Wales, after a deep cover agent investigated rumours of a “magic phone” when several children displayed heightened emotional stress after one child was found dead under mysterious circumstances.
Incident XXXX-1:
After approximately 2 weeks since testing, SCP-XXXX began to ring louder than previously recorded at 116 decibels, and despite being separated from the site’s day care facility by several levels of soundproof building material, several children and agents present were noted to have heard the ringing. Post incident, background checks on the children revealed all had lost close family members prior to the event, many while working for the Foundation. Security footage shows SCP-XXXX moving counterclockwise around the room, before attempting to ram the door to its chamber multiple times. It should be noted that prior to this incident, SCP-XXXX was not known to be capable of any kind of sentient movement.
Incident XXXX-2:
2 days since last incident, SCP-XXXX disappeared from containment to reappear in the site’s day care center with no adult supervision at the time. How this occurred is unknown, as video footage produced static at the time of breach. The search took 23 minutes before researchers checked the daycare wing, and discovered the 9 children present using SCP-XXXX. It should be noted that while many of the children displayed a positive mental state, two of the children appeared to be severely psychologically disturbed. Questioning is currently underway, and the use of Class C amnestics has been authorised upon their completion. Object class changed to Euclid.
