Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe/Thaumiel

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be assigned to the staff member specified on the agenda. That staff member must be reminded to hug the bear all night for its effects to take place or else their lives may be at stake.

Description: Currently being moved around various sites and locations. SCP-XXXX's appearance resembles a teddy bear however the maker is unknown. When SCP-XXXX is cared for correctly it has the ability to protect the person caring for it between 6:30pm and 7:00am from any harm. This incredible ability allows researchers to get closer to SCPs and study them without the risk of being harmed. SCP-XXXX (aka Teddy) is currently being transported to various sites to allow researchers to study certain SCPs in more detail than they could ever have done before however Teddy only accepts one person per night and that person must hug the bear for the whole night for full effectiveness.

Even though SCP-XXXX is an extremely useful tool if the user stops hugging the bear during the night then Teddy starts becoming dangerous. When someone stops hugging Teddy during the night the bear observes what you are doing to protect yourself from danger and hinders you from protecting yourself. An example of this would be if you were running away from an SCP. Teddy would notice what you were doing and uses its favourite ability of emitting a tranquillising effect to slow you down making you exceptionally tired until you can eventually walk no further. You will simply collapse to the ground and Teddy will withdraw at this point to stop you from falling asleep because all he wants to see is the horror on your face before you die. If you manage to get to a door of a containment room before collapsing of exhaustion then Teddy enjoys jamming doors so that you cannot exit.

The full extent of Teddy's abilities are unknown but researchers have found that when Teddy is protecting a person it can make them more awake and give them more energy. It also seems as though Teddy can open doors to allow its user to escape and close the door quickly behind them. Researchers believe that Teddy is partially sentient with an alter ego. Teddy primarily wants to protect people from harm and enjoys doing so. However when a person stops hugging, Teddy enjoys watching that person suffer. These positive and negative effects only affect the person who started hugging Teddy for the night. If Teddy doesn't have anyone hugging it as soon as 6:30pm then it will be inactive for the duration of that night.
