Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Safe

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in a standard storage locker in Site-██. SCP-XXXX is to be refilled using standard black ██████-brand ink cartridges at least once every 24 hours. Additional cartridges are to be stored alongside SCP-XXXX1.

Description: SCP-XXXX was recovered on █/██/██ from an abandoned warehouse belonging to ██████. An investigation into the circumstances of SCP-XXXX's creation is currently ongoing.

SCP-XXXX appears to be a standard ██████-brand printer. Attemps to connect SCP-XXXX to any computer have resulted in [REDACTED]. When a standard black ██████-brand ink cartridge is inserted into SCP-XXXX, the ink inside begins evaporating, taking approximately 24 hours to complete this process. Ink vapour is then expelled through SCP-XXXX's printing slots. By this time, if a new cartridge is not inserted, SCP-XXXX will become nonfunctional, not responding to electrical energy until refilled. SCP-XXXX does not appear to recognise other brands/colours of ink cartridge.

When connected to a source of electrical energy, SCP-XXXX activates, displaying a notification reading "[REDACTED], ready for artist's impression." for 5.5 seconds, before displaying the standard ██████-brand startup menu. This menu is nonfunctional, and attemps to operate it result in SCP-3454's display changing to a solid red screen for 2 seconds, before returning to the startup menu.

When activated, if a page of standard A4 paper is placed into SCP-XXXX, the printer will automatically print an image described as "a bunch of weird, colourful spirals". This image appears to be a slow-acting memetic hazard, causing massive amounts of ink to materialize within the bodies of the affected within approximately █ █████. Chemical analysis reveals this ink to be identical to the ink within ██████-brand cartridges.

If a hand-drawn picture on an A4 page is inserted into SCP-XXXX, the contents will be converted into a photo-realistic rendition of the subject, regardless of the quality of the original. Pictures drawn from imagination are converted into images described by the creators as perfect copies of the imagined product. SCP-XXXX has also been observed to work on descriptions of images. After a picture is converted, the original artist will experience a severe case of writer's block, the length of which depends on the detail of the picture. Rough sketches result in longer cases, observed to last 2 weeks at the longest, whereas more detailed pictures can result in cases as short as 24 hours2.

Test A - ██/██/██

Item: One (1) watercolour painting of [REDACTED], painted by Dr. F█████████.
Procedure: Page was inserted while SCP-XXXX was extremely low on ink.
Results: SCP-XXXX printed the first 45% without incident. SCP-XXXX then paused for 5
seconds, before proceeding to erase the remaining 55%.

Test B - ██/██/██

Item: One (1) copy of documentation for SCP-2140, printed on A4
Procedure: A robotic arm was used to lower page into SCP-XXXX's input slot.
Results: SCP-XXXX remained inactive for approximately 6 minutes, before producing a
perfect rendition of SCP-2140.

Addendum XXXX-A: Resarcher Note

Due to the results of Test B, it can be hypothesised that SCP-XXXX is capable of replicating
other image-based SCPs. Requesting permission for further tests.
