Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Keter

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be contained inside a locker within the boundaries of Site-██. Under no circumstances should flags be brought in close proximity to the SCP. Testing is strictly prohibited.

Description: SCP-XXXX appears to be a filtered picture depicting a dog with human dentures. The picture itself shows no anomalous effect, although viewing the image has been known to cause uneasiness and a general feeling of dread in people. The picture's anomalous effects manifest when a country's flag is brought in a proximity of 10 or so meters. When this happens, the dog in the picture, who from here on now will be referred to as SCP-XXXX-1, "jumps" (how it does this is currently unknown) and attaches itself to the insignia on the flag. After SCP-XXXX-1 has already attached itself to one flag of a designated country, the entity is able to easily replicate it's effects by appearing on every flag of said country he started possessing, regardless of whether the flags are in close proximity to the first flag he possessed (hereby referred to as the "Alpha" flag).

SCP-XXXX-1's secondary effects are memetic in nature, where the inhabitants of said country instantly believe they are under the control of an all-loving ruler who seems to bear a resemblance to the dog in the picture. When the residents of said country are questioned about this, they see nothing unnatural about a dog leading a country. Along with that, every resident now tries their best to please their "ruler", which include a number of inhumane events such as human sacrifice to appease their leader in places as broad as city centres, broadcasting Satanic rituals to every TV in said country and even introducing school subjects about summoning otherworldly creatures as early as the 3rd grade. The only known way to stop it's effect on a nation after it's effected said flags is to destroy the "Alpha" Flag, at which point the dog returns back to it's original picture while also removing itself from any other flags it managed to reach out to while attaching itself to the original flag. The memories of said inhabitants also seem to erase on their own after SCP-XXXX-1 leaves a flag, indicating no need for Class A amnesiacs.
