Item #: SCP-XXXX

Object Class: Euclid

Special Containment Procedures:
SCP-XXXX is to be kept in a ten (10) by ten (10) meter concrete room.
SCP-XXXX is to be placed in a glass box of is at least three (3) centimeters thick, this box is to be placed on a pedestal at least nine (9) meter off the ground. These have to be checked for corrosion on a weekly basis, and repared if necessary.

SCP-XXXX must kept at least nine (9) meter from any surfaces or objects, with the exception of it's pedestal and containment box, this perimeter must be clearly marked within the contaiment area.
At least one (1) camera and one (1) thermal detector must be present and working outside the nine (9) meter red-zone.

When reparing SCP-XXXXs containment area there must be atleast three (3) members of personnel assingned to this task, as well as two (2) class-D personnel on standby.

Update: Due to a apparent 'preference' SCP-XXXX has shown to a select number of personnel Agent B█████ and D-8073 are no longer allowed to come within SCP-XXXXs red-zone.

Should SCP-XXXX become active during the repare of it's contaiment area all non class-D personnel must vacate the area and the assigned class-D personnel must take over.
The repare phase is the only time outside of authorized testing that any objects or personnel may enter SCP-XXXXs red-zone.

Description:
SCP-XXXX is a severed tongue of adult human size with small rough barbs on the upper side of the organ and one (1) saliva-gland on the bottom right.

DNA testing has been unable to identify the owner of SCP-XXXX, however it has been confirmed to have belonged to a male with bloodtype B negative.

SCP-XXXX becomes active in intervals of three (3) hours to eight (8) days, during wich it will begin to spasm rapidly and produces large amounts of saliva, which contains high amounts of █████ as a corrosive agent. This active phase last from fifteen (15) minutes to two (2) hours.

Any objects or surfaces within a eight (8) meter radius will gain small patches of liquid and/or corrosion over the span of it's activity, living subjects report similar effects ranging from light touches and liquid running over them to rough scraping and the feeling of acid burning through skin.

SCP-XXXX will corrode anything though it's effectiveness varies depending on the material. Living organic material recieves damage at the fastest rate, most commonly in the form of scraping, followed by non-living organic material wich is most often found to be corroded by SCP-XXXXs saliva. Non-organic materials are least affected by SCP-XXXXs corrosive properties and show no patterns in their corrosion.

The length of SCP-XXXXs active phase appears to be parly dictated to both the amount of corrosion within the last active state and the length of it's inactive phase, the more corrosion it inflicted the longer it will stay inactive and in turn after a longer inactive phase SCP-XXXX will spend more time active.

Addendum:
Experiments have shown that SCP-XXXX has functional gustatory cells which respond to the 'taste' of the objects it affects though which components they respond to is unknown. These cells seem unable to perceive the same tastes as human gustatory cells, they do however respond negatively to both capsaicin and menthol dispite this.
