Item #:SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Safe
Special Containment Procedures: SCP-XXXX is to be stored in an airtight plastic container at least 6 cm in surface area larger than SCP-XXXX in a dark area. Due to the condition and effects of SCP-XXXX, it is only to be handled by Class C personnel or higher with proper care except for testing.
Update: No testing is to be carried out for any reason.
Update: Any personnel with level 4 clearance or higher may use SCP objects to assist translation of SCP-XXXX
Description: SCP-XXXX is a deteriorating book dated at 2020 years of age. The pages are specifically made of papyrus, while the cover is made of a rigid unidentified material and depicts Arabic letters, translated to 'One Thousand Mara'. The writing on the inside is written in classical Naskh Arabic, and tells each of the stories from the One Thousand and One Nights. However, halfway through, it reads an untranslatable a blend of ancient Mongolian, Sumerian, and Indian languages respectively.
The anomalous properties of SCP-XXXX manifest in a cognitohazard that affects any sapient entity that reads it. These effects last an upwards of 1 minute. The effects have been categorized into 3 phases. All readers are categorized as the current instance of SCP-XXXX-1. No more than 2 instances may exist at one time. The symptoms are as follows:
1. 1-4 seconds; the neurological state of the brain is quickly changed. SCP-XXXX-1 is temporarily confused and put in a state where all primary senses cease to function properly. During this time, subjects have reported seeing a blood red color in place of their ordinary vision, and hearing incomprehensible whispering
2. approx. 5- 40 seconds; SCP-XXXX-1 ceases all higher-level thinking, and starts chanting "The devil, the mother within." Over and over until forty seconds have passed. Subject does not breathe or maintain a pulse during this time.
3. 41-60 seconds; SCP-XXXX-1 starts returning to their original neurological functions. Subject has complete memory of this event, and typically rushes into a panicked state if they were not aware of the effects beforehand.
After the event has concluded, SCP-XXXX's anomalous abilities will no longer affect SCP-XXXX-1. The effects will, however, transfer to any new readers, causing the listed symptoms. The physical symptoms however, may include migraines, aneurisms in various locations, intracranial hemorrhages, seizures, and shock.
Discovery: SCP-XXXX was discovered in a library in the city Jeddah, Saudi Arabia on 2/15/1989. Local reports claimed that various people started acting strange in a specific portion of the facility. The following week, a member of Foundation personnel disguised as a common patron investigated the entire section over the course of several months as the Foundation was not aware which book was causing the anomaly. After 7 months of searching, SCP-XXXX was finally discovered, and the rest of the publications were returned.
Date: 3/29/20██
Objective: Test for possible side effects of SCP-XXXX
Test Taken By: Dr. █████████
Tested: D-6162. D-6162 was tested seeing that she was mentally healthy, and did not show any major signs of complications prior to testing. D-6162 was not warned of the effects of opening the object prior to test
Note: SCP-XXXX was covered in a plastic covering prior to testing to prevent possible destruction of object.
D-6162: Okay, doc. Let me get this straight, you want me to read an old book? Why does it look like crap?
Dr. █████████: Continue with the experiment.
D-6162: Alright, Alright, I'll read your damn book.
-D-6162 opens the book as requested, and experiences the known effects as predicted, then immediately panics-
D-6162: What the fuck was that! What did you guys do to me?
Dr. █████████: Don't panic, please. Tell me what you saw during that, but please calm down first.
D-6162: Excuse me? … Okay, okay, I think I saw a very dark red-
Dr. █████████: Explain what you mean by 'very dark red'.
D-6162: I don't know how to explain it further than that, uh, I guess… You know how when you shine a light at your eyes and close them? You know what I'm talking about?
Dr. █████████: I suppose. Continue.
D-6162: Okay… and I was hearing voices during all of that.
Dr. █████████: Please, elaborate.
D-6162: With the voices? or…?
Dr. █████████: The voices.
D-6162: Alright, well, I couldn't tell what they were saying, but they were whispering to me, I dunno if you were talking to me, but I couldn't hear nothing.
Dr. █████████: Anything else?
D-6162: Uh, well I do have a headache, it's pretty bad…
Dr. █████████: Anything else?
D-6162: No, I don't think so, nothing I can feel other than this headache.
Dr. █████████: Okay, that will conclude this test.
Conclusion: D-6162 was treated with Class A amnesties immediately after testing. As expected, she experienced minor headaches the following days. However, these persisted for weeks, and it was discovered that D-6162 was suffering from 2 increasingly worsening cerebellar aneurisms, and died the following week from rupture.

Objective: Test for possible side effects of SCP-XXXX-A
Test Taken By: Dr. ████
Tested: D-5162. D-5162 was tested due to the fact that he has had a history of epileptic seizures and manic fits, as well as engaging in a physical altercation with D-████, who was identified as the aggressor and terminated afterwards. This test is primarily for the side effects of the possibly mentally ill. Subject was not informed of the effects of SCP-XXXX-A
Dr. ████: Good morning, D-5162, how are you?
D-5162: Just fine, got in a scuffle today with D-████ if you didn't hear, I hear they died too.
Dr. ████: Yes, I did, and that's why we're here today. I want you to open and start reading the book right in front of you.
D-5162: Okay, why?
Dr. ████: Please do what I asked.
D-5162: Okay, okay.
"D-5162 immediately opens SCP-XXXX and soon after, as expected displayed the symptoms of SCP-XXXX, and soon after doesn't respond
Dr. ████: D-5162, what happened?
D-5162: "silence"
Dr. ████: D-5162, answer me, now.
D-5162: "silence"
"Dr. ████, immediately enters, and finds that D-5162 is completely incapable of movement, even with exterior force. Subject is claimed to alive during this time by Dr. ████."
Conclusion: D-5162, while subject did experience the effects of SCP-XXXX, was rendered immobile afterwards. Subject died the day after from ventricular hemorrhage. Autopsy reports show that subject's muscle was completely calcified, with the exception of cardiac muscles, and those in the abdomen, allowing subject to breathe. Cause of hemorrhage is largely unknown, but thought to be from tearing of muscle tissue.
Note from Dr. ████: I would request no more testing of SCP-XXXX, judging from that harrowing experience, let's not send more D-Class needlessly to their deaths, especially to test something we already know.

[Requesting the use of several SCP objects to translate SCP-XXXX]
[Approved]
-Report written by Dr. ██████-
Report: 2/15/2███
From: Dr. ██████
About: Full translation of SCP-XXXX
21.1268° N, 11.4021° W
After about 3 years of work, and several SCP objects, we have finally fully translated all of the second half of SCP-XXXX. While most if it isn't exactly notable, we have found coordinates for the location I have attached.
I request the complete investigation of this object and it's properties. Additionally, if possible, requesting investigation of the Richat Structure.
re: Report: 2/15/2███
From: Site Director
About: Request denied.
Dr. ██████,
Thank you for your work on SCP-XXXX. Due to unanimous decision, your request for the 'complete investigation of this object and it's properties' and 'investigation of the Richat Structure' has been denied. You will be reassigned on to another project. Thank you for your work, Dr. ██████.
Note: This is document V2, which details information about SCP-XXXX-B. Please check document V1 for information regarding SCP-XXXX-A
Item #:SCP-XXXX
Object Class: Keter *See Document for individual designation of members*
Special Containment Procedures: each instance of SCP-XXXX-B will be stored in holding cells, approx. 3x5x8 meters each. These cells are to have basic no access to water and lighting, and have no more than 1 bed. Any attempts at escape or insubordination should be dealt with force or execution.
As the subjects possess the ability to manipulate an unknown force to attack personnel, electromagnets are able to slow down this process, and thus should be used in cells and carried by all personnel assigned to SCP-XXXX-B. No Class B or higher personnel may be allowed to directly interact with any instance of SCP-XXXX-B due to the properties of said instances.
No member of SCP-XXXX-B is allowed to have a cell within 100 meters of each other, and must be separated during times where they may be released for any reason.
(for management of SCP-XXXX-A, check document V1)
(Check document SCP-XXXX-B-A for list of terminated members)
Description: SCP-XXXX-B refers to a cult-like society containing 8 (formerly 12) members, 6 male, 2 female, originally located under the Richat Structure . Each have traces of Sumerian and Indian decent, and appear to be inbred. SCP-XXXX-B as a whole does, however, suffer the common effects associated with inbreeding, albeit at a smaller scale than typical humans. As such, they have a small gene pool, and 3 have reported diseases related to inbreeding.
Each instance, referred to as SCP-XXXX-B-1 through SCP-XXXX-B-8, have the ability to use an unknown force to use what has been described by personnel as 'magic'. As this has the ability to affect nearby matter, whether living or not, handing of each instance is to be handled by trained, armed guards with Level 3 clearance. These abilities normally manifest themselves as spontaneous combustion of nearby matter, rapid mutation or decay of specific living cells, and the apparent manipulation of a foreign object's kinetic energy. This has caused at least ██ Foundation employee deaths and █ deaths of external staff.
[For a complete list of effects, see Document SCP-XXXX-B A]
It is not known how each instance of SCP-XXXX-B is able to manipulate matter and energy in this way. However, it is possible for the effects of SCP-XXXX-B to be circumvented by electromagnets running at 50 Watts.
Members of SCP-XXXX-B do not appear to show any ability to communicate and coordinate, allowing easy containment and disbandment in the event of a breach.
Culturally, SCP-XXXX-B practices a previously unknown religion, worshipping a single, unnamed goddess. This goddess seemingly has the ability to alter it's appearance in various ways, according to hieroglyphs inside the room SCP-XXXX-B was discovered. In the room SCP-XXXX-B was discovered, (see Discovery of SCP-XXXX-B) a large steel figure is shown, approximately 20 meters off the ground. This takes the form of an unknown make and architecture resembling a woman with a third eye and lack of a nose, as well as cutting off at the knee. In each hand this figure is carrying an item identified as a Vajra in the left hand, and a Kīla in the right hand. Surrounding this statue are various 'tubes' branching off into the wall. They appear to have no actual practical application and are purely aesthetic.
Discovery: The room SCP-XXXX-B was inhabiting was found in a rock outcropping inside the Richat Structure. Following clues from SCP-XXXX-A, the Foundation was interested in the Richat Structure. However, this was considered initially a hoax, as the Foundation has not found any other evidence that an anomaly was occurring in the Richat Structure. After reports of missing persons around the Sahara desert, members of the O5 council requested Field Researchers [REDACTED] and Mobile Task Force Pi-3.14 (Eyes of the Desert) to search the Richat Structure for signs of missing persons.
The Task Force was able to locate the current Site-241 inside the Richat Structure. Inside the 'room' that SCP-XXXX-B was apparently living in, was each of the missing persons corpses, with numerous injuries and tumors on them. As the Task Force explored, they encountered SCP-XXXX-B, and proceeded to open fire as SCP-XXXX-B as a whole attacked the Task Force. █ members of Mobile Task Force Pi-3.14 was KIA, and 4 members of SCP-XXXX-B was killed as well. Each remaining member was apprehended and contained at Site-███
Note from Dr. █████: SCP-XXXX is far too dangerous for the foundation to contain. I don't think we can learn anything from studying these subjects, and we can't understand their language. They are constantly attempting to escape us, and it's far too difficult to contain them. I request we terminate each member, as it will be easier on foundation and our resources.
[DENIED, DUE TO DECISION BY ETHICS COMMUNITY]

Aftermath: SCP-XXXX-B members [DATA EXPUNGED] were terminated, and up to ██ foundation personnel were killed in the aftermath of Event 1/3/20██.
What happened on this event was inexcusable on our parts, as members of the Overseer council. We will not make any excuses as to why this event happened; we take full responsibility on the event between 1/3/20██ and 6/3/20██. We will, of course compensate for all foundation members lost. We will reconsider the termination of each member of SCP-XXXX-B, as they have clearly shown to be extraordinarily dangerous for even the foundation. -O5-7
Interviewer: Senior Reasearcher Dr. ███████
Interviewee: SCP-XXXX-B-4.
Date:2/1/20██
Foreword Taken in light of both Event 1/3/20██ and the discovery that SCP-XXXX-B-4 is indeed D-Class D-5162. Referred to as SCP-XXXX-B-4 to prevent confusion.
[Start Log]
Dr. ███████: Thank you for coming, SCP-XXXX-B-4.
SCP-XXXX-B-4: I didn't have a choice.
Dr. ███████: I know. Now, I am aware you are a former D-Class used for testing on SCP-XXXX-A.
SCP-XXXX-B-4: Yes, I am.
Dr. ███████: Now, do you have any memory of that [pause] life?
SCP-XXXX-B-4: Yes, I remember being turned into stone. I remember my seizures. I remember everything as clearly now as I did when I [pause] died.
Dr. ███████: Okay, please calm down. Now, what happened after you died?
SCP-XXXX-B-4: I was born to who I believe was named SCP-XXXX-B-3, I remember growing up to them, they treated me as a family. More than you could have.
Dr. ███████: I understand. You should know more than anyone how dangerous SCP-XXXX-B was. I'm sorry we had to do that, it was honestly a tough decision.
SCP-XXXX-B-4: You just care about how many anomalies you can contain. Duh, you had to kill them "Because they were an issue," but why? Why kill my family and not any other skip?
Dr. ███████: That is classified.
SCP-XXXX-B-4: Right, what isn't here?
Dr. ███████: Let's move on. Did your [pause] family ever mention escaping containment.
SCP-XXXX-B-4: I don't know.
There is a short pause
Dr. ███████: What do you mean, 'you don't know'?
SCP-XXXX-B-4: I can't understand them.
Dr. ███████: Excuse me?
SCP-XXXx-B-4: I told you, I don't know. I can't understand them.
Dr. ███████: So you can't understand their language, and yet you treat them as family.
SCP-XXXX-B-4: But, they [pause] did they love me? I-I don't know.
Suddenly, a power outage occurs, there was no breach occurring at the time, and there were no issues with generators at Site-███.

Special Containment Procedures: Due to the properties of SCP-XXXX-C, Site-313 should be supplied with 50 guards, each trained for preparing for unknown contingencies. Site-313 will be supplied with a Boeing AH-64 Apache and 20 gallons of strong corrosive acid. Site-313 will have proper living quarters for guards who are assisting containment of SCP-XXXX-C-2, including sufficient nourishment, room and any additional necessities. Under limited circumstances should Site-313 be undersupplied with the aforementioned supplies.
A disinformation campaign will be issued to nations inside and bordering the Sahara Desert, claiming that a military base has been set up due to political and military issues with nations such as Saudi Arabia and Iraq.
In the event that SCP-XXXX-C escapes containment, Procedure-XXXX-Yama will be carried out.
Procedure-XXXX-Yama.
In the event of a full breach, where SCP-XXXX-C is freely roaming across the Sahara Desert, actions will be carried out depending on the level of the situation identified by three different colors, as well as black.
Code Cyan -In the event where SCP-XXXX-C-2 is freely roaming the Sahara Desert, however not a confirmed threat to civilians and actively avoiding nearby civilization, MTF Pi-3.14 ("Eyes of the Desert") will be dispatched to eliminate the target.
Code Yellow -In the event where SCP-XXXX-C-2 is actively moving toward Site-298, however is a potential threat to civilians and actively moving toward civilization, MTF Pi-3.14 ("Eyes of the Desert") or the onsite Boeing AH-64 Apache will be dispatched
Code Magenta -In the event where SCP-XXXX-C-2 has breached Site-298, MTF Epsilon-11 ("Nine-Tailed Fox") will be dispatched inside the facility to terminate SCP-XXXX-C.
- Code Black (Classified)
- O5 Login Credentials Required
- -In the event where SCP-XXXX-C-2 has successfully completely evaded search teams, a disinformation campaign will be used for all nearby countries, and last seen form of SCP-XXXX-C will be searched for using any method necessary.
In the weekly event that SCP-XXXX-C-2 undergoes an "incarnation," several procedures have been created to counter this, and will be acted on depending on the judgment of the current Site Administrator.
Description: SCP-XXXX-C-1 refers to a room found under the Richat Structure in the Sahara Desert. It has been designated Site-313, and is currently secured with a Mobile Task Force and 50 Foundation guards.
